Go-Go Bars are popular and visited by just about everyone at some time in their whoring life. There are three main Go-Go areas in Bangkok: 1. Soi Cowboy (most popular) 2. NEP ..(2nd most popular) & ..3. Patpong , an unworthy 3rd (nowadays).

This is where you find young lithe young hooker bodies moving around on stage in skimpy bikinis, or semi nude. Full nudity is very much the exception nowadays. The atmosphere at NEP is commercial but less so than Patpong , where they can be very pushy (Patpong). Soi Cowboy (Notes further on) is a little more relaxed and laid back compared to NEP and Patpong. Note - It never gets that relaxed and laid back that your not paying : )

In recent times, when it comes to drinks , NEP has become a little more expensive than Soi Cowboy and maybe even Patpong. However , unless your on an extremely tight budget , the differences in prices will not be a major problem for you.

OVERALL ..... In recent times Soi Cowboy (info further on , down below) has become more popular than NEP , leaving Patpong languishing a deserved last. Hardly anyone talks about Patpongs GoGo Bars anymore. 

You might like sitting out the front of the entrance to NEP , early in the night , say 6 - 8pm eg at Big Dog Bar , on the railing , watching the dancers arrive in regular dress. If they look good in full dress take a note of their face or better still  , call out , and ask them which bar they work in and what’s their name, then check them out on the dance floor (in the near nothing) and if to your liking , move in for the kill. Big Dog Bar at the entrance to NEP is ideal for this kind of observation , and many other observations. If your a people watcher , you'll enjoy the view. Sit right on the railing for full 'control tower' status ... best view and access to passing babes , if need be. 

Note - YD/Your Drink : Baht 150 (or more) , less some places. LD/Ladies Drink Baht 100/150 (or more). This might be out of date now , I dont buy GoGo girls LD's so dont know the score there. Prices are more likely to go up than down. Hard keeping track of price changes. Use these prices as a rough guide only. Drinks are the cheapest part of your whoring anyway : )

NEP ... details : 

 

Location : Soi.4. A few short metres ( 1 min ) from the corner of Soi.4 and Sukhumvit Road. There is a huge sign over the entrance which says "Nana Entertainment Plaza" in both English and Thai.

Floor numbers are as per UK , Viz Ground Floor UK is 1st Floor if your American and so on.

Two stories high (U.K. , ie Ground Floor and then two more floors) and in a horseshoe shape. Handy to most of the recommended Hotels and other popular spots including Nana Hotels Disco across the road and Beer Garden , not far away. You should not go to the actual GoGo's before 8pm. NEP used to be the most popular go go scene in Bangkok , Soi Cowboy undercut it with prices and NEP hired too many Katoeys (transvestites) = Soi Cowboy rose to prominence. I dont think there is much difference to Cowboy and NEP prices nowadays , but the Katoeys are stil there (NEP) and the damage has been done.In times of yore NEP is where it was full on , groping, blow jobs, lesbian sex shows, beautiful nude dancers and katoeys, all in the one complex. But nowadays the govts clean up drive continues unabated. Expect to only see bikini girls shuffling their feet (meat inspection) , and then if you see more ... a bonus. Make sure your entering a girlie place and not a katoey place  : )

Beer Bars :
 

DEMOLISHED ..... There were beer bars on the ground floor. Became very dormant in recent years , now demolished and area largely left empty for the time being. There are nine or more GoGo Bars on the outer circle of the ground floor horseshoe (USA called 1st Floor).

Note - It is hard to quote accurate prices , especially with drinks , as management changes prices often. Take the following as a rough guide only :

YD (Your Drink) GoGo Bars .. Baht150 or more  , less some places. As you can see , higher than beer bars. Ladies Drinks most probably Bt150 or more , always varying , usually upwards : ) Before ordering Ladies Drink ask "how much" beforehand. Beware of 'double' ladies drinks = double stated price. Best rule .. ask "how much" before each and every transaction in Thailand (and Philippines : )

Some have happy hour prices to 8/9pm. Same gals on display and better choice if your in the Bar Fine mood , plus you save some 'peanuts' : )

BF/Bar Fine (GoGo Girls) : Baht 600. Asking - ST/Short Time : Baht 1500/2000 (more likely ask for the latter , especially if one of the top girls). LT/Long Time : Baht 2000/3000. Can ask for more , but  they can be had for Bt2000. Note : many girls do not stay all night , do a runner. Better to hire ST. Bargain politely but firmly and you should be able to get them at the lower prices , especially if your on the right side of 40yrs : ) Note : if you Bar Fine LT early in the night , a top girl will most likely do a runner , returning to the same Go-Go in the hopes of more BF's. That is ST you. So , as usual , make the 'terms of engagement' clear , right from the outset before placing BF money on the bar , preferably in front of the Mama-san/Manager. Even that wont save you sometimes. One of many reasons why NEP is not so popular nowadays : ) If me , I would barfine ST (short time) , and if I got along very well with the lady , return another time and barfine LT (long time). 
 

COMMENTS ON THE NEP GO-GO's :
 

Disclaimer ... I only visit GoGo's enough to keep this info 'honest'. GoGo's are not my cup of tea , but are popular with a lot of mongers , cause you see more of the body etc. For sure , the following info will get you started. Whatever you do , make sure you visit Rainbow and Angels Witch GoGo's at NEP.

Ground Floor UK [First Floor if your American] -

The building is a horse shoe shape , with ground floor and above that 1st and 2nd Floors. The centre of ground floor is currently empty , with GoGo Bars all around the outer circle of the ground floor  horseshoe shape.

NOTE: It is a 'sea of change' in the sex industry , whether talking about GoGo's or whatever. Names and locations below might have changed , management changed etc etc. Take the following as a guide only. Walk around and just pop your head inside the door and if you like what you see , enter.

First on your right as you enter , should be the highly regarded Rainbow .1. then Playskool , Hollywood Rock , and finally Rainbow.2. ........... "Obsession" is another one in NEP which employs katoeys (ladyboys/trannies) exclusively.  

Playskool , half way down , is a little bit smallish but with about 100 attractive girls on tap , it is popular and busy. The best girls are bar fined early, so make sure you are there by 10pm at the latest.

Rainbow.2. located in the far right hand corner, as you enter the NEP building, is popular. Heaps of girls, including good lookers (usually). Anything from twelve to twenty five 'dancing' (shuffling feet) at any one time on the stage. Sound system good, smoke free, air con good. Only problem - ST mentality & a Japanese clientele that increases prices. Also they might employ some katoeys there nowadays too. Note : the attractive Waitresses can be bar fined. Rainbow has more GoGo's upstairs (hard keeping track : ) where the most popular Rainbow 4 resides.  Possibly four Rainbow GoGo's in all (NEP) nowadays  , but make sure your not looking at a Katoey , especially when upstairs : )

Entering the left side of the horseshoe (from Soi.4 end) you will firstly come across Lollipop which is possibly inhabited with 50% Lady Boys these days , then Red Lips, Pretty Lady (formerly Bottoms Up) and finally Voodoo in the left hand corner , possibly with a small number of katoeys nowadays. Names change etc with the wind.

How to identify a Ladyboy (Katoey) down below. Presence of so many Katoeys is one of the major reasons for NEP's decline with regular mongers. 
 

First Floor (UK) [2nd Flr if your American] -

No Beer Bars in the centre of the horseshoe, of course. Space only/open to the heavens above. About 15 Go-Gos and x 1 Restaurant/Pool/Meeting Place in all (1st Floor).

Stay on the alert for Katoeys/Transvestites who are in the employ of some Go-Go’s. eg Casanova’s Bar on this lst Floor (UK). See at end of these Go-Go notes for info on how to identify katoeys. Cascade , wherever it is , is also a katoey bar.

Coming from Soi.4. end , to your right and up the steps/escalator :

Straight ahead as you reach the top of the escalator and up the stairs is Mandarin.  Popular. Note : Tallest girls are most probably men , ie , Katoeys/Transvestites. You have been warned : )

As you walk along the right hand side of the 'shoe' : Silver Dragon ; then Fantasia ; Spiders Web ; Rosemary's and then finally G. Spot.

Fantasia - is the first popular and well known Go Go you come across (on right side) ; next Spiders Web (good for BJ's).

Rosemarys Go-Go - is famous for its Public BJ’s and groping. BJ Bt 500.

G. Spot Go-Go - in the far right hand corner is a big place with three stages. Feeling the effects of the authorities crackdowns , and thus not as well catered for as it has been in the past. It's fortunes might have changed for the better by the time you visit.

Left side -

Continuing on past G. Spot and walking along the bottom of the horseshoe you will find Casanova's in the corner. Katoey country. Only he/she's in residence , incl. post operatives minus a penis plus boobs : ) These types are enthusiastic/aggressive re Ladies Drinks etc.

The popular Rainbow 4 is apparently next door to G. Spot nowadays. Must visit. Some think its the best GoGo at NEP. 

Continuing the swing, after you pass Casanova's , and heading in the direction of Soi.4 you will come across:

DC -10 & Sexy Nights (not sure if still there nowadays).

Then "Angel Witch" : A well known place that varies as to quality of girls and 'boldness' of shows (authorities permitting). Can be pushy and more expensive re Ladies Drinks and ST at 1500/2000 , LT at 3000/4000. A talked about place that possibly you should visit at least once ? Worth at least a peep inside the door : )

Spankies next to Angel Witch has shows too , worth a beer and check out.

Followed by : Hollywood Stars ; Hogs Breath ; Three Roses ; Rainbow.3. Maybe Rainbow 3 and 4 are more popular nowadays than the ground level Rainbow GoGo's. Next Titty Twister (not the prettiest of ladies but cheaper Beer). Some of these businesses might have changed their name or gone out of biz by time you get there. Use names as a guide only. Regardless of the name , they all do much the same thing : )

Note : Hollywood this , Hollywood that. Name changes , as does the wind : )

No beer bars . Some big Go-Go Bars , eg Hollywood Carousel ; Hollywood Two ; Carnival (and they all have ‘shows’ , that's if authorities are not clamping down at the time of your visit). If 'shows' still 'muted' , then expect smaller crowds in attendance. Update : Ground level and 1st floor (uk) are the most popular floors , not this floor. 

Right side :

Carnival Go-Go - Coming from Soi.4. end your first Go-Go on the right is "Carnival" (big area) .

Taboo ST Hotel - is next on your right, near the corner. Baht 300 standard room ; Baht 350 Deluxe (with bath tub) , two hours. (supposedly clean and modern). Note : This might have changed its name to NanaPlaza ST Hotel (?) Update ... might not be there now. See bottom of page , Other Nightlife notes for best Short Time Hotel info.

Left side :

Hollywood .2. Go-Go : Following on past Taboo and continuing the swoop left , around and ‘out’, you first come across Hollywood.2.. Big area/go-go. (The Ground Floor one is called Hollywood Rock , I hope , unless they have changed that to Hollywood ............. ? ).

Hollywood Carousel : which last time had girls boxing etc. anything goes, for entertainment. Only about a total of 2/3 Go-Go's this left side. Some have 'shower shows' etc , depends on authorities 'mood' at the time of your visit.

Apparently there is a ST 'Hotel' on this left side too. Dont know , never seen it. Only seen and checked the one on right side : ) Update : The NEP girls will take you to the one they feel comfortable with. Apparently two ST places in NEP nowadays and either , Bt300 for a room.

Reference to 'nudity' and 'shows' below , may be affected by the Thai government making a concerted effort to soften the sex image of Thailand , viz banning sex shows and nudity of any kind.

OVERALL ..... In recent times Soi Cowboy has become more popular than NEP , and leaving Patpong languishing last. But , cause its in Lonely Planet nowadays , its becoming a bit touristy and the girls can sometimes treat Mongers like tourist suckers , ie price. Before Lonely Planet it was tucked away in an alley the tourists did not know existed , not any more. Still considered better than NEP though. 

Starts around 8pm , finishes around 2am or a bit after. 
 

History of Soi Cowboy  :

There are different versions as to how the place came to be known as 'Cowboy'. Here is the one I like : )

An African American by the name of Edwards was one of the first , if not the first to open a bar in this area , an off shoot of Vietnam R & R I suspect , cause Soi Cowboy was there , up and running in 1978 when I first visited Bangkok/Thailand. His nickname was 'Cowboy' cause he wore cowboy gear and actually rode a horse in and out from that street. The popularity of his bar , attracted other punters (bar owners) to the Soi which people then called 'Cowboy'.

Where is this man today , he deserves a drink , for services rendered. Auto' entrance to Whorist Heaven for that gent !
 

Location :

Have a look at the freebie map you got at the Airport , it might or might not show Soi Cowboy. See Map info , Page/link.1. , for better more detailed maps.

It's South - East of Soi.4 and the NEP Go-Go's. More East than Sth. (EE-S) . Soi Cowboy runs between Soi.23 and Soi 21 , not far from the corner of Asoke and Sukhumvit Roads. 

It's a fairly long walk from the corner of Soi.4 and Sukhumvit Rd (NEP area). Possibly 20 mins walk.Bt 40/50 taxi ride from the same area (odds side of Sukhumvit Rd). Alternatively catch a Skytrain at No. 2 (Nana E3 Station) (evens or odd side of Sukhumvit Rd)  to Asok E4 Station. Exit train station on same side as odds side of Sukhumvit Rd. Vehicular traffic is heading in same direction as train was ,  then your on the correct (Soi Cowboy) side of train station when you hit ground floor level.

At ground level you will be looking at a very big intersection. Sukhumvit Road runs under the Skytrain tracks. The main road running left , at right angles to Sukhumvit Rd is Soi 21 (Asok) . Cross that main road , turn left on the other side of the traffic lights (footpath) , and walk along footpath running alongside Soi.21 (Asok). Just ask any Thais around to confirm your heading towards Soi Cowboy (Street Cowboy).

Once across Asok/Soi21 and on the other side , its a short walk , say 3/5 mins and the first Soi/Alley on your right , where you will come across a blast of Neon lights.  Thats Soi Cowboy. 

Enter and exit the same end of the Soi and the same side of the railway station every time. Other end/side (Soi 23) can be a bit dicey (street hustlers/crims) , especially late at night. 1am onwards best to catch a taxi back to Soi3/4 area , muggings/robbery possible (katoeys) around Asok Station that time onwards. But try and avoid the standby taxis , who have 'rip off' on their mind/s. Walk a little away from Soi Cowboy and stop a passing taxi , is best. Because of one way traffic he might have to take the long way to your destination , but better than risking being mugged (early hours of morning at that intersection). 
 

General Overview :

Soi Cowboy continues to be popular. Rising prices at NEP and the likelihood of seeing some form of nudity (subject to Authorities endeavours) , possibly tips the scales in Cowboys favour. Also less katoey confusion at Cowboy. Unlike Patpong , where there are tourist vendors stalls everywhere , the Soi Cowboy strip is hidden away from the run of the mill tourists. You'll be in the company of elite whorists here , and not have to worry about the 'lowly' tourists incl. mums and dads : ) Although the growing popularity of Soi Cowboy means more tourists go there to have a geek. Not the mums and dads though. Not my experience anyway. Update : More tourist types are invading this area. Husbands and wives gawking etc , but Mongers far out number them. Books like Lonely Planet are driving tourist types to Soi Cowboy nowadays. 

Semi 'nudity' and 'shows' at Cowboy can be on or off , depending on whether the police are enforcing the governments on-going 'clean up' campaign. On my last visit and at some bars , full nudity was 'on'. 

Be wary of katoeys (lady boys) patrolling up and down Soi 23 and close to Sukhumvit Road , in particular. Cowboy bars are largely free of the Katoey pests , which have invaded NEP. One of the reasons for NEP's decline , methinks.

Coyote Girls : 

A new and dreaded phenomenon , influenced by the influx of Korean and Japanese clientele ... Coyotes.

Employed in some Soi Cowboy bars now. Katoeys killed NEP , the Coyotes might kill Soi Cowboy.

These girls are usually very pretty , take ladies drinks (be careful they do not order a 'double' ladies drink) , but do not barfine/fuck.

Ask waitress or Mama-san how to identify Coyotes in each GoGo you visit , sometimes they wear the same uniform. If Mama says "We dont have them" , Reply : "Good , I dont like them" = discourage the growth of this new Japanese/Korean phenomenon. 
 

Average prices - Note :

It is hard keeping track of the ever changing drinks and bar fine prices. Use the following as a rough guide : YD (Your Drink) 100/150 (lower prices during happy hours) . LD (Ladies Drink) ... Baht150 on average for a single. Make sure they are not bringing you a double for double price. Coyotes (see below) most probably press for doubles , watch out. BF (BarFine) Baht600 ST (Short Time) Baht 1500/2000 , lower price certainly feasible. Baht 1000 possible , just before closing (1.30/2am) ,  for the 'crumbs' (girls) left over. LT Baht2000/3000  , maybe ask for more , '3' is more than sufficient. But many girls do not stay long time , so pay for ST. This LT 'runner' problem is all over GoGo's nowadays. My advice : Do not pay for LT , pay for ST.  High season = lots of punters/mongers , so they tend to stick to the higher prices quoted above.

Midnite Bar - Walking down from Soi.21 end , it is about the fifth Bar on your right. This Bar has been popular for a long time now. It's a household name in Soi Cowboy. Not necessarily the best , but certainly one of the most popular ones. If the police are happy (bribes) full nudity at Midnite Bar. Possibility of Coyote girls here , they are pretty , but they do not barfine (fuck). Ask waitress how to identify the Coyotes , sometimes got a uniform. A Japanese/korean trend that stuffs up who you can and can not fuck at a bar. Katoeys (transvestites) : Maybe they have katoeys too , beware. 

Dollhouse - It's on the left hand side. Established successful player in Pattaya and now with a branch in Soi Cowboy. Possibility of total nudity on the upstairs dance floor. Be on Coyote alert , not sure. Still popular with some. 

Afterskool - Also on left hand side , before Tilac. Drinks can be cheap but girls , even on entry , have a repuation of being pushy (drinks/barfine etc). Blow job in the Naughty Corner (public) for 500/700bt , but make sure its not a hand job for Baht 500. There could be a Baht 200 ST Room charge on top of the Baht 500/700 , if you want privacy, otherwise she might want to do it in the 'sin bin' (special 'Naughty Boy' corner of the Bar for this purpose). Check out the 'terms of engagement' beforehand : ). Smallish bar , not all that popular nowadays , most prob cause of pressure to 'buy' (something). 

Right hand side : Suzie Wong is another player. Some distance down on right hand side. 

Left hand side : Tilac. Coming from Soi.21 end it is about twelve down on the right hand side. One of the more popular ones. Subjective , peek in door will do no harm. ST Bt1500 plus Bt350 for ST room on same premises , possible. Convenient. Coyotes apparently in employ here. 

Right  hand side :

Long Gun. Coming from Soi.21 end it is one of the early ones on right hand side. This place is not pushy. Some lookers , with good attitude, dancing in the semi nude/nude (hopefully so , when you call) and no Katoeys to worry about (hopefully). On most occasions they also have 'Fashion/Strip Tease Shows' and group choreographed shows (subject to Authorities 'enforcements'). These shows have in the past created a lot of interest, but with regular persistent government crackdowns they are not so special any more (bit tame). However , a must visit if your in the Soi Cowboy area. Even so , places like Midnite etc more popular nowadays. 

Shark GoGo - Left side. Big sign , you can not miss it. One of the more popular ones right now. Lookers (subjective)

Deja Vu .... Popular , Coyotes , and maybe some Katoeys too. 

Spice Girls ... Popular , and employs Coyotes.

Kiss ..... Popular , and employs Coyotes. 

UPDATE : The governments 'clean up' campaign continues. You can not be guaranteed there will be nudity or 'shows' when you call. It's a lucky dip , on and off like a tap. Depends on the mood of the boys in brown (police) , and their need for money (bribes) , at the time of your visit. For sure currently girs are wearing short dresses with no panties , see thru dresses etc in some bars. More raunchy , and exciting than NEP anyway.

Forget this area : 1. Not enough info for me to have up to date info 2. Lost its popularity for good reasons 3. Inconvenient to get to and find. 

NOTE : I would not recommend this place to anyone currently , especially newbie/beginners. Hit NEP and Soi Cowboy GoGo Bars first. They are more than enough , and better. Add to that , on my last visit to Patpong the area seems to be undergoing re development viz large areas demolished for new construction. Forget for time being.

Patpong is the area between Silom & Suriwong Sts. Some kilometres of NEP & Soi Cowboy Go-Go Bars.

Transport to : Taxi from Soi.4. , 20/25 mins (60 Baht ?). If traffic heavy , it will take longer and cost more. 

Alternatively ,catch the Sky Train to Sala Daeng S2 Station. BTS (Sky Train) Route Maps are available at any station. 

Presuming you are coming from Siam Central BTS Station and when you exit the train at Sala Daeng S2 , you are facing the direction the train was heading , you exit Sala Daeng Station on the right hand side (North - Nth West side) , exit .1. Being a Sky Train , you have to walk down to ground level. Immediately at the bottom of the steps turn left onto Silom Rd footpath ,ie, continue heading in same direction train was heading when you alighted it (West-South) , and work your way along the footpath through the maze of tourists and street vendors selling all and sundry . Patpong 1 entrance : If you count the little alleyways (Soi's) starting at the bottom of the steps , Patpong 1 Soi should be the fourth Soi up on your right hand side. You will see a big Archway over the Soi.

UPDATE : Last trip , I entered under the archway and could NOT find the big area of GoGo Bars. The whole area seemed to have been bulldozed , demolished for some kind of development. Whether its more GoGo Bars or what , I do not know. My guess is "not gogo bars" and thus confirming the continuing decline of Patpong as a GoGo area. If you go there after this comment and find it different , please write in , eg Forum. 

Note - the Sky Train stops functioning at 12 midnight.

Leaving Patpong , late at night : Walking back towards Sala Daeng Stn , there is Convent Road on the right hand side of Silom Road. Experienced practitioners catch their returning taxi there and not outside Patpong itself. The taxis parked outside Patpong do not use their meter , and charge a rip off tourist Baht 1/200 to take you back to Soi.4 area. If these guys approach you say "Sorry I am not a tourist , I am a whorist" : ) Convent Road is a good spot for regular metred non rip off taxis (provided you make sure they use their meter). I always try and avoid 'stand by' (parked) taxis regardless of the country I am in. They are generally lazy rip off artists , preying on the unsuspecting.Try and always catch a taxi that is passing by , not one that is on 'stand by'/parked.

NOTE : Last trip , Patpong looked like it had been decimated with demolition work and bulldozers. I would NOT visit Patpong until this area has settled down again. Waste of time. Only reason to visit would be Star of Light blow job bar (see below).

Patpong is a very pushy area : "give me LD" ; "give me tip" ; "you take me" etc. Also , you will be lucky to get your change back voluntarily etc. Not my scene : )

No. of Bars - there are approx 27 Go-Go and 10 Beer Bars in Patpong. Last trip I did NOT see 27 GoGo Bars , more likeiy 7 ! (demolition work) , but maybe they were there , didnt spend much time there (not interested).  

Before demolition and last trip , I wrote : 

"The area is crowded with stalls and gaping tourists. The girls at Soi Cowboy are as good or better without this kind of ‘crush’. Even so , Patpong is a must stop , at least once , later on in your whoring career when you have experience. When your looking at Patpong your looking at the Mother of Bangkok Go-Go's , the one that gave birth to all the other Go-Go's. Fortunately her 'children' (NEP & Cowboy) are not so 'pushy' : )

Touts abound in this area. Note - do not go with them to some other spot , as it will result in a waste of time and pos. a rip off. Preferably , do not enter Bars in small alleyways , between Patpong 1 & 2 , or bars with no names posted outside.Always a possibility of a rip-off in such places. Do not enter upstairs places for same reason. Upstairs ones are the worse with many stories of P3000 bills/chits for one beer , big goons there to make sure you pay etc. 

History - Patpong as an entertainment area started after the second world war catering for the staff of the many airline companies which set up office in the area. The first Massage Parlour for foreigners (Japanese initially) in Bangkok was set up in Patpong in the 1950’s. Then in the late 60’s servicemen on r&r from Vietnam kick started the go go scene. In 1978 yours truly, arrived at Patpong with the Touts gently whispering in my ear - ‘girl pingpong’. Not so gentle nowadays and more than pingpong balls coming out of the girls fannies too. Note - Nowadays this 'lewd' form of entertainment has been curtailed and/or stopped by cruscading governments. Never was interested in such activity anyway : )

Generally the go go ‘s are on the ground floor and above some of them, rip-off sex shows (above go go’s ie same building ). More on the sex shows later. Not to be confused with upstairs bj bars. Katoeys are mixed with the regular dancers in some places. Go go’s that do not employ katoey dancers are clarified by me best I can , although there will always be some confusion/debate regarding this as some katoeys are very hard to pick and thus a place you would swear has only regular girls, might also have one or two Katoeys. Not my kind of scene : )

Average Prices :

Note - It is hard to keep track of the ever changing prices. Use the following as a rough guide only : YD Baht100/150 , LD Baht150 , BF Baht600 , ST 1500/2000 (more likely the latter), LT 2500/3000. Few girls will go LT , they make more money selling LD’s and doing ST’s. No doubt the elderly tourists, buying kitsch in the same streets wander in from time to time, see the lithe young bodies and offer ridiculous amounts of money for the young things and thus spoil it for regular practitioners like you and me. Places like NEP and Soi Cowboy do not have a heavy tourist traffic passing by their door like Patpong does. Bring adequate change with you as the cheeky sods are reluctant to give you change. Tip only someone worth tipping , not just because they ask for a tip. Remember - others will follow in your footsteps , dont make it any harder for them. Be firm but fair.

Patpong.1. & 2 is where it all happens. Patpong .1. is the most popular. See UPDATE and NOTE above (demolition work).

Note - keep an eye on your bills, those little bits of paper being popped in the cup in front of you and do not offer large notes for small bills/invoices , otherwise the bar girl might make a ‘mistake’ and give you change for a smaller note . Once the ‘mistake’ has been made it can not be undone cause she will lose ‘face’ and lose your money in the process : ) And keep in mind , unlikely (but still pos.) to have the same kind of trouble in the Kings Go Go’s recommended herein (depends if you have got 'newbie' written all over your face : ). Keep this piece of advice in mind wherever you are. Large notes $ are an invitation for an unpleasant and costly experience which will sour your night.

It's gotta be the most talked about BJ Bar in Thailand. But do not expect nice environs or beauty queens. The ones I saw sitting out front were anything but. But I was early. More attractive ones , whether its BJ , Massage , Freelancer whatever , quite often do not arrive early for 'work'. SOL seems to be the most popular , or lets say , most talked about , BJ Bar in Bangkok and/or Thailand , but not convenient location for those staying in Soi3/4 area. Lolita's BJ Bar  is convenient for those guys (see Other Sex Venues info for Lolita's)  , but "Star of Light" seems to be the star. Best vacuum service around , they say. Never indulged myself ... girls not attractive enough. I can get attractive girls to suck my cock in my room for no extra  , so why bother with less attractive girls who are doing nothing but sucking cocks all day long  : ) Dont forget : 1. Hard to find (SOL)  2. Bit of a grotty building , and very small 3. Girls are not lookers , but they are reputably the best cock suckers in Thailand. Practice makes perfect   : )

How to find SOL :

Arrive at Dala Saeng station , take Exit.1. on right hand side of station , at bottom of stairs head straight , walking past 1. KFC , then 2. a narrow laneway , then 3. Soi 4 (also narrow) to the next Soi which has an "Electric Blue" neon sign up high on wall. 4. Turn right into this 'electric blue' Soi (alleyway) , and you will see handbags for sale to the left and right of ya as you walk along. 5. You come to end of this little laneway ,  where you veer left , noticing Electric Blue place on  your right as you pass by. Further on you find 6. Foodland supermarket on your right also. See overhead a red "French Kiss" sign and 6. down below to right is a small open air bar with stools all around it called "Cleo". Cleo sign on one of its pillars , small sign , not big. From Cleo's if you look around you will see a Star of Light neon sign or just be patient and you will see Star of Light painted on a wall nearby. Usually  3/5 SOL girls sitting out front of the place. Enter if your game : )

When I tracked down S of L , I thought most of the girls, but not all ,  looked pretty old and terrible , but all this kind of stuff is subjective , so check it out for yourself. I was early , attractive ones do not start early. I did not go inside (too shy : ) but I believe the following will greet you : Your Beer Bt80/100. BJ in public/bar area and/or in partitioned area at end of bar , Baht700. This partitioned area is within the toilet area , not so savoury eh ? : ) Ladies take is around Bt450 so tip if satisfied. To take Lady away from bar for ST there is Bar Fine of Bt400 , then Bt3/500 to nearby ST Hotel (Lady knows). These take out prices most prob have gone up in recent times. But no need to take lady out , you can fuck her there and then on the premises and in front of others , if you like. Believe fucking fee is Bt1000. Negotiate all prices beforehand. 

Lady said to me , open 10am till late x 7 days a week. Suggest arrive 11am to be sure its open when you call. One could presume that the best Ladies do not front up until later on , say 7pm onwards. Presumably the ones who are not earning much money = not popular , front early and the big earners and most attractive vacuum cleaners , out of a relatively ordinary looking bunch , arrive later in the day , at a guess , 7pm onwards : ) 

You could prop at Cleo's bar , 7/10mtrs away and watch them arrive for work , pounce on anything respectable looking. Maybe she will give you a blow job , out in the open at Cleos. Put a hat on the ground passers by might drop you a tip  : )

Myself ? No , wouldnt bother with all the hassles of getting to and finding the place. Lolita's (see Other Nightlife page) BJ Bar  is much more convenient and good reports coming in about Lolita's nowadays too. Better building , furnishings etc (Lolita's) , lot better. Surroundings are important you know. But if your a Slease Heaven exponent , only SOL will satisfy. Lolita's is too sophisticated by comparison : )

Warning ... Upstairs Sex Shows (eg : Ping Pong) not recommended. Once you step inside you will not leave without being presented with a big rip-off bill which you have to pay as 'heavies' (goons) man the exit doors. Bills can run into the thousands of Baht , even though you may have had only one drink.

Tourist Police : Walk straight up Silom Road past the Sala Daeng Station until you come to the corner of Ratchadamri and Rama 1V Roads by Lumphini Park. Look to your right you will see the Police Station in Rama 1V Rd. Head to them if you fall prey to a Patpong scam. If police are not showing much enthusiasm to your plight (one of many they hear about) you might have to offer them a share of the booty (incentive) to get your money back from scam artists. You'd think with the thousands of mum and dad tourists shopping for kitsch in this same area they would have foot patrol police walking up and down. I didnt see any.

Taxis - Walk away from the area otherwise the ones parked at patpong will treat you like a tourist mug and ask for Baht 1/200 minimum (no meter) when the real fare is in the vicinity of Baht 70 to Soi 4 area. More detailed info on this under 'Transport to' , above.

Skytrain - stops at 12 midnight , as indicated above also.
