GUIDE only :

Use the information below as a broad guide only.

It will be helpful in getting you started.

I personally visit Philippines as much as possible , and then update the info below.

UPDATES : Reviewed January 2012

"Reviewed" means info re-read and adjusted where necessary.

Angeles (AC)  is the the go-go/show place city of the Phils. Friendly and better attitudes too : ) A 'meat inspectors' paradise .. skimpy dressed hooker girls everywhere. You will be flat out fulfilling your inspection duties here, there are just too many bodies to check out. I dont think anyone has done a head count of the number of bars/show places in Angeles... it must be 100 or more , who knows. Simply put , too many for any one person to check out on a short vacation , thats for sure. And most sex venues conveniently located next to each other , especially in Fields Avenue. You can walk from one to the other all night long.

Some places have a hundred or more girls employed , others less. Big places , small places and others in between.

All the activity is located in Balibago. Angeles itself is 2km away. But we always refer to the action area (balibago) as 'Angeles' . I doubt if there is a town of this size , anywhere in the world, that has so much temptation in so small an area.

When to go :  Answer : In short , best time (my opinion) .... Any of the months ... November to March.

Exception : December ... few days before Xmas day and few days after New Year. During this festive season significant number of girls , especially the successful ones, ie , pretty ones , take the opportunity to return home to their village and their all important family , loaded with cash donated by guys like you and me : )

So , mid January , all of Feb and March would  ideally be the most exciting time to be there , but depends on so many factors. Use the previous info as a reliable guide only.

Worst time : Possibly June and July when its wet , low season , and possibly the same successful girls mentioned above , might be absent , having a mid year break. Wet season can extend to September.

Feb to April its dry and hot.

MAP : Check : acmap.com ......... or ask for the free Angeles entertainment map at a place like Kokomo's Travel Office , or at Hotels.

Taxi or Bus - to Angeles :

Even though it's a grubby town (mud pit in wet season) , if your a Go-Go/Show Place phile , I'm confident you will say Angeles is worth the effort . You can travel direct to Angeles from the Manila International Airport by taxi , arranged Angeles pick up service , or Swagman bus service. Or ex Manila itself via similar services. See below specific info.

Air to Angeles itself :

Cebu Pacific Air (CPA) fly in from Phil domestic airports (and even Bangkok) to nearby Clark airport.   [CPA from Cebu to AC ... only Mond Wed Frid , to and from  ].

Ex Bangkok they currently fly : Thurs , Sundays and Tuesdays , arriving early hours of the morning (AC). Purchase tickets within Phils at local Phil ticket Office , online , or standby at Bangkok Airport. But CPA have been known to cancel international (eg Bangkok) flights to Angeles (Clark Airport) etc. Rumour has it , they do not normally accept credit card payments either. I always buy at CPA Office or Travel Agent in Phils , never online.

From the local Clark airport you can ...............

1. Catch the nearby air con Jeepneys , P30/50 per passenger.  ,  to Clark gate and/or SM Mall. Prob with this 1. Driver waits until Jeepney fills up and if you have got lots of bags and there are lots of passengers , you might have a problem : ) 2. After being dropped off you might have to hire a motor bike taxi (trike) for P50/100 to your actual Hotel.

2. Catch a non air con jeepney , roughly 300mtrs from airport , without delay , for P10 , but same probs as with .1. above re bags and drop off point.

3. If me , I would pay the exhorbitant private taxi fare to my destination in Fields (wherever) area for P300. Rumour has it , might be P500 nowadays , quite ridiculous if its that (short trip). Margarita Station will pick you up at Angeles (Clark) airport too , check their prices , and make a booking on : margarita-station.com

4. Swagman have a van pick up at Clark airport , check their prices/make booking on : swaggy.com

On leaving Angeles and returning to Clark Airport , you will see opposite Jollibee , a queue of both Jeepneys and Taxis (hopefully : ) Jeepney marked 'DMIA' or 'Airport' , anyway , just ask. Otherwise arrange through Swagman Hotel Angeles for a van to the airport : swaggy.com. Otherwise enquire with : margarita-station.com                 In person you could enquire at a place like Kokomo's Travel Office.

The usual method of arrival and departure is as follows :

Bus :

From Manila Airport to Angeles ...

Check Swagman website swaggy.com (Phone : 3225133)

Schedule : Currently bus times from Manila (Swagman Hotel)   itself to Angeles (P600) are : 11:30am ; 3:30pm. ; 8:30pm. From Angeles (Swagman)  to Mla : 8am , 12n , 3pm. Swaggy Angeles : Phone No : 3225133 ]

Presuming the van and bus coincide with your arrival at MIA (Airport)  that is the way to go. Manila to Angeles takes about 1.5 to 2hrs , depends if your arrival at MIA involves peak hour traffic. If Swaggy van pick up at Airport does not coincide with your arrival , take a Yellow Cab (see info Manila Airport , Hotels page) to Swagman Hotel or wherever.

Swaggy will drop you near or at your accommodation in Angeles. See below accommodation options. If your arrival does not fit Swaggy schedule then you might decide to stay overnight at their Hotel , and motor on to Angeles following day. Their hotel is close to nightlife action , see nightlife page. Alternative would be to make arrangements with vehicle pick up service ... see below .. to pick you up at MIA and then off to Angeles , without delay. Quicker , more convenient , but P2500 this way.

If your arrival in Manila does not coincide with Swaggy bus schedule and if you do not want to stay one night in Manila , your other option is to catch a metred yellow cab outside airport to Pasay bus terminal P100/150 , and catch the "5 Star" busline to Dau bus terminal , for about P150 air con , 1/1.5hrs ride , then a P100 trike to Fields Ave/Balibago area to your Hotel. On the reverse trip you catch a Victory Liner bus at Dau to the Pasay bus terminal.

Southern Cross Hotel Ermita Manila ... has now started offering limited bus service to and from Angeles. Note 'limited'. Google it if curious. Located very close to Swagman Hotel.

Limousine :

In actual fact its just a regular car. Check with hotel of your choice (see Hotels below) and see if they offer a pick up service at MIA (Manila Airport). This will set you back around P2500. Alternatively try any of the following well regarded pick up services ....

The ville (Maragarita Station) - Offer a pick up facility on website :  theville.com (for latest prices) or their other address is : margarita-station.com Phone : 63-45-892 6547/63-45-322 0354 (045 if calling from within Phils). They were the first to start this particular pick up service , many years ago. Others copied. They will meet you at Manila International Airport and take you direct to your specific hotel in Angeles with the minimum of hassles for P2500 (car) - P2800 (van) , incl. tolls (check via their website). You can request them to bring drinks , and sip away whilst your vehicle heads for Angeles. The trip takes about 1.5 to 2hrs , traffic permitting. I have travelled this way and it was a smooth pick up and landing. Follow their online instructions re pick up at Manila Airport , closely.

Orchid Inn - listed below as a popular Hotel in Angeles. Also providing a vehilce pick up service , but maybe only for their guests ? If Orchid Inn tenant , perhaps book with them in lieu of the ville (above) , approx same charge as the ville (above) incl. tolls (check via their website). Normally they do not provide drinks en route. Check : orchid-inn.com (or maybe : orchid@datelnet.net) ..However , for this particular type of service , the ville has a slightly better reputation. Orchid will be superior when you have a hotel booking with them , I suspect : )

TAXI

ex Manila :

Outside MIA (Intl Airport Manila). There is 1. Taxi ticket service , using Pajero style vehicles , but it will cost you a small fortune to Angeles , I should think. See Manila Airport , Hotels  page , Arrivals , for details about taxi tickets. 2. Alternatively a Yellow Cab , but once again an expensive way to get to Angeles (Info on Yellow Cabs in Manila Airport Hotels page). 3. Personally I would not catch a regular taxi from Manila Airport to Angeles. Offer P2000 if you do. You dont know if you will get a good driver or not , and the condition of his vehicle (brakes steering) for 100kph highway trips etc. Regular taxi drivers work 24hrs , most without sleep , not good. Sit in the back seat , not the front seat which locals call the "suicide seat" : )

Taxi within Manila City itself ok  , but you do not know the condition of these old taxis for highway trips. Not for me : )

TRANSPORT WITHIN ANGELES itself :

Within Angeles - Trikes : You will be at the mercy of the busy little bees/mosquito's, the motorbike taxis, called tricycles/trikes. They feed off tourists and some of them can be quite cheeky. Try and find out from some one else, before you approach a trike driver as to what the fare should be to your intended destination. Do not embark until the driver agrees with your price. A short trip should cost P50 (they ask anything up to P100 : ) , on average other trips cost P70.

Ignore any and all other 'offers' by trike drivers. It will be a rip off. No card games , no 'special places' etc etc. Ignore all offers. Just direct to your destination , no diversions/dalliances. Admittedly they have not tried to set me up with those offers , but if they offered divergences I would say "no , no , no".

Jeepneys : Are also available for some trips, but beware of pickpockets when riding this form of transport in Angeles, or anywhere else in the Philippines for that matter. Locating the right Jeepney can be a problem/walk , sometimes. Average fare P6/8 (short trips). It's handy to know your drop off point , otherwise driver might sail straight past your drop off point.

Alternatively you can hire a honda 100cc motorbike in Fields Avenue on a daily basis for about P120/150 (at time of print). Lots of accidents in Philippines , so take care , especially when under the influence. You will pay dearly if you have an accident , and YOU the foreigner will be in the wrong every time , regardless. Stay cool if involved in an accident , otherwise you might be beaten up/road rage : ) Then there is the problem of "misunderstandings" re the Contract you signed  : ) Myself , I prefer to pay the exhorbitant trikes fares. I stay in hotels convenient to the action , as listed below. Only a walking distance away , so I do not need trikes that much.

After this info , do not become paranoid about travelling around Angeles. If a Filipino is a thief , he is usually a cheeky/gentle thief compared to the ones we can come across in the Western world. Exceptions will always prevail of course .....be alert , but not paranoid : )

Sex Hotels List  :

Wikimapia.org for maps where hotels are located. Book a 'double' room , to make sure they do not try and charge for any guests (highly  unlikely in budget joints , more of a risk in the upmarket hotels).

Budget Hotels :

Note .... Generally , the lower the price , the more likelihood of theft from rooms or safe. At a wild guess , rooms below P1000 might have slack management and thus higher risk. Exceptions always prevail .... my favourite room in Philippines costs P700 per day and nothing ever gets touched. But I am not revealing its name cause I want my favourite room when I visit Phils. Find your own : )

Angeles hotels are ok. If you have no choices of your own , you might like to try one of the following the first night and if not to your satisfaction move around on your first morning and find something better. There is adequate accommodaion to choose from. Dont forget the basics for checking in to accommodation. Thailand notes and Manila General info notes covered that adequately, so I wont repeat all that again here. Main thing , have a look at room before handing over any money. The currency quoted on this website is the Filipino Pesos. For conversion to your local currency refer to : xe.com

Here is a brief list of hotels popular with mongers.

Need to 'google' to get latest room rates.

Briefly , good choices :

1. Orchid Inn budget rooms and up (details below)

2. Pacific Breeze , convenient location like No.1. (details below)

3. ABC Hotel , Monger Hotel for a splash (details below)

If arriving in high season , reservation advisable :

1. Orchid Inn

Convenient location for Fields Ave sex scene. Overnight girls no problem. Good Restaurant they say. I have yet to eat there. 109 Raymond St Balibago (Angeles) but I entered in Real Street (its on the corner of both streets). P1600 to P4500 rooms. Most rooms in P2500 range. Phone 63-45-892 2403/2653. (045 if dialing within Phils). Book in advance to be sure of getting a room. Wif-fi in public areas , not rooms , so I am told. Swimming pool , yes. Very close to action. I stayed in P1600 room , carpet and furniture needed replenishing. Staff and poolside area nice. Good location for me. Website : orchid-inn.com .

2. Swiss Chalet P1500 to P3000. Gloria Street. Close to : Orchid Inn .. and Wild Orchid Resort. Same area. And so very close to the action , book in advance. Believe german style meals. Wi-fi in rooms , so I am told. Swimming pool ? enquire at website :  Website/bookings : swisschaletph.com

3. Wild Orchard Resort : A Santos St (Blow Row) and therefore also close to 1 and 2 above , and the action. Handy location , 2 min walk to Fields and girlie action. Looked nice , didnt check rooms. Nice pool. Popular with big spenders. P3900/4500 as a guide. If booked out , try Pacific Breeze located behind Wild Orchard.

4. Kokomo's in Fields Ave on corner of A Santos St (Blow Row) and therefore close to all five (5) places of accommodation listed here. P1200 small number of rooms. Extremely convenient location. Right on the button/action. You'll need a reservation , google for Kokomo's. I stayed there one night , ok for me. Budget accom that some might not like.

5. Bangkok Hotel , Fields Ave , right on the action , P1100 and up. I've never inspected it , must be bottom budget at that price. Google for details.

----

6. Clarkton Hotel, Don Juico Avenue, P3000 and up. They might have cheaper rooms not 100% sure.  Problem : Getting to and from Fields Ave action area. Popular. Buffets available. Not walking distance to Fields sex action. Clarkton Shuttle Van (free to residents) to and from hotel every 30 mins to 3am , I believe. That helps. Bring a van load of girls back to the hotel. But if vehicle not there when you want it , you get involved with the trike driver bandits : ). Distant location is the problem with this one.

7. Oasis Hotel , at the end of Fields Avenue, P1500. P50/100  tricycle taxi to the action. Therefore not for me. I like convenience.

8. Central Park : "Good location , completely remodelled P1400". Last trip I did not come across it , and therefore could not confirm " comments. Not sure about convenience of location either. Check acmap.com Website : centralpark-ac.com

9. ABC Hotel , Perimeter Road. Around P6000 and possibly up.  Monger atmosphere. Pool , gym , free shuttle to Fields Ave. Not close to action , but I have walked it , maybe 7/10mins (?).  Some reckon its overpriced , but its popular. Note : Tenants can call for ABC car to come and pick you up , or drop you off. Free , no charge. Myself I like short walking distance to action = flexibility : )

10. Pacific Breeze U$50/60 and up , with pool , well regarded. Short walk to action (Fields Ave). Some say 'noisy' , some say not so. Website : pacificbreezehotel.com

11. Lewis Grande is a relatively newcomer and popular. Costs a little less than ABC Hotel. Not close to the action , some distance away. P3500 and up ,  as a guide. Preferred over the ABC Hotel , by many , but location is a problem. Not walking distance to action.  Wikimapia.org for map showing location in relation to others.

12. El Cheepo alternatives : Possibly the following info is now out of date , Google for latest .............. Niagra (not Viagra : ) Hotel , A.Santos St , P400 Air Con ; Vistillana Hotel, Charlotte St, P400 Air Con. Other budget Hotels - Endeavour Lord Hotel P750; Sunset Gardens close to Endeavour P850. Note : I do not have updates on these el cheepos. Can not guarantee info re them nowadays.

13. America Hotel. Best to avoid this one , girls dont like it. Apparently a murder suicide there in times of yore and girls now believe a 'ghost' now resides there : ) Flips believe in ghosts = she wont concentrate on those blow jobs. Better stay somewhere else : )

Accommodation info generally : Suggest you have a look at the information and reservation facility offered on : theville.com They are residents of Angeles and therefore are in a better position to advise you re accommodation. They will charge a small commission for organising your accom. Money well spent.

Restaurants :

Overall , Angeles is rather ordinary in respect of Restaurant choices. But we go there for the chicks , not the food , eh ? : )

MAP : Check : acmap.com

A small sample , not in any specific order :

Convenient ....

1. Restaurant in any of the first four places listed above (accommodation) , viz :

Orchid Inn , Swiss Chalet , Wild Orchard , Kokomo's (breakfast).

Others ....

2. International  Bar , 24 hrs , sports screens etc. Corner A Santos and Vian Sts. Some say food is good.

3. Margarita Station, long established place. A little away from the Show Places but still in Fields Ave. Short walk from Kokomo's. I found the basic food here is good , but slow in coming , principally cause they do not pre cook. Cook to order only = good food. Restaurant area itself is rather ordinary , but who cares , the food is good.

4. Clarkton Hotel has a nice enough breakfast buffet , at I think P390. I tried it. Ok , but 1. a P70/100 trike ride away 2. Margarita is sufficient for a budget banger like me. High Rollers , elsewhere please : )

5. Molly Malones , located in the Blue Nile Executive Hotel. Apparently good for buffets.

6. Hole in the Wall , for big steaks at a good price etc , they say , dont know myself , I am a vegetarian.

Changing Money :

Myself I found no problems with Margarita Station (see Restaurants and or Limousine from Manila Airport info above , where Margarita is mentioned). Located inside the building next to bar. Exchange rate , service etc , no problem , especially cause I ate there on a regular basis : )

Alternative for me would be the Money Changer located opposite Nero's in Fields Ave. I'd change in day time here , but of a security risk night time , right in the heart of a red light district (pimps , hustlers , street thieves). You collect your cash standing outside the money exchange booth , not inside = someone might come up and grab the cash or follow you : )

Additional info : Mongers say ... "Norma's best (reliable honest). On Teodoro , 1 block Sth of Fields". Certainly change there day time only. Do not change at night and walk back to Fields. Maybe someone will meet you along the way and suggest you hand over the dough : )

Cash U$100 notes are king , best rates. Pound , Euro , Aussie , also popular. Only bring notes in good condition , no scribble , tears etc. Travellers Cheques are not so easy to change and attract a lower rate. Try Margarita Station (see Restaurants above) for TC's. Cash Advances on Credit Cards are charged a minimum 4% and possibly as much as 8 - 10 % surcharge. Current Intl exchange rates : xe.com ..... Myself personally , I arrive in Angeles with enough cash (pesos) purchased at Manila Airport on arrival , for at least the first few days.

INTERNET CAFE: Walk along Fields towards Margarita Station and you will see at least two on right hand side. Small but sufficient. The one I used was open 24/7. To find it ....... heading towards Margarita on left hand side of road you come across a 7/11 shop , opposite side of road is opposite side is Fusions Internet Cafe , small but adequate. If full , another one further up the road (away from Fields)

Now to the naughty side of things, thousands of sexy girls .... Angeles nightlife :
