BRAZIL

BROAD GUIDE only.

Hi ;

Here are my nightlife and accommodation etc notes re Rio de Janiero and towns/cities in the North of Brazil .

They are a combination of my personal observations and note taking during my six months stay in 1995 and info passed on to me up to September 2002 by fellow Mongers and finally my 2007 visit. Link for 2007 Diary is at the bottom of this page.

Some of the info will be outdated by now , but it is still a reasonably good broad guide for a whore tour. I have no more info to offer you , other than what is below and what has been written in the Waffle and Stories sections of this website.

The following is an extremely long scroll down. Take your time , consume/read it over a few nights. It will serve you well as foundation information. Scour other websites to fine tune/up date it.

BRAZILIAN BEAUTIES - do not expect to find one on every street corner : ) , but they can be found , and they can 'boogie' - with the best of them. Don't let the ugly ones choose you. If your not in a hurry , you can get sex from the attractive ones at modest prices , even free , if your below 40 and can speak the language : )

For sure , brazilians love sex.

---------------------------------------------------

Always best to take a copy of Lonely Planet with you , just in case (Accom ; Transport ; Restaurants etc etc).

1. RIO DE JANIERO: (River of January).

UPDATE : Late September 2002. I gained access to some fresh information through a reliable friend and Riophile , who purposely went about collecting factual information for me on his July 2002 reconnoitre . His information is not as specific as I would have liked , but it is difficult to always get detailed info from a guy who went there principally to get his rocks off : ) .The following is a combination of his notes, my notes and other friends notes.

Exchange Rate used in these notes , approx : U$1 = R3

FREELANCE ACTION :

As I have said before , a pick up is on the cards EVERYWHERE. All Restaurants and watering holes are potential pick up joints. Do not think only of the freelance spots mentioned below. Think 'pick up' , wherever you go.

COPACABANA :

Most of the whorist style Freelance action happens on Avenida Atlantico, opposite the Copacabana Beach. Meia Pattaca Restaurant (a short distance from Help) and outside Help Disco itself , are the focal points for Freelancers , who wander all around this area, including streets leading off and parallel to Atlantico. Some FL's are there during the day (eg Meia Pattaca) , but most do not front until 10pm onwards. 11pm onwards and things are really starting to warm up, especially outside Help Disco.

Be wary , late in the night , early in the morn outside Help Disco. Some street crims pray on tourists , sometimes robbery at knife point or whatever is involved. In extreme cases , kidnapping for ransom is not out of the question. What can a person do ?

On exiting Help , cross the fingers , walk briskly and straight to a taxi parked in front. Do not walk away from Help into side streets.

Any talk of drugs inside or outside of Help could be a Police set up which will cost you time in prison and at least U$1000 in fines.

-------------------

For the Ladies , U$30 Short Time is the correct street rate. Brazilians, cheeky by nature , will ask for more , even U$60 and more. Better to take the initiative and make an offer to them , just to let them know your no idiot. Most of the Rio girls are hard operators and will walk off in a huff , if you have offered less than they are willing to pull their pants off for. In the same situation , most Asian girls (Thailand/Philippines) will keep their cool and consider any offer. Not so the Cariocas (inhabitants of Rio).

HELP DISCO :

Inside Help Disco (Help pronounced .......Helpee) from around 12 midnight on it rocks. By 1am there might be as many as 200 hookers prowling around. Some of them are hard girls , no time to make conversation. Conversation for some of them is to front up to you and say ..... not ..... Hello , "wot your name , where you from" .....as they would in Thailand ......but to simply say : "How much you want to pay". There are exceptions of course.

Don't expect Help to be filled with Brazilian Beauties. There are some there , but the majority are not beauties at all. Even so , the place is definitely worth a look/check out. Some of them have the cheek to ask for U$200 , promising all night , but knicking off after one poke. The average monthly salary in most cities of Brazil is the equivalent of U$100 , so use that as a guide. In the provinces U$35 per month.

The simple fact is , for Brazilian guys , paying for sex in Brazil is the exception. It is the norm for us foreigners , but not the norm for 98% of the Brazilian lads. It is possible for a foreigner to meet a non commercial lady , take her to a restaurant , wine and dine , take her home and poke her brains out (and she likewise you) for free. Naturally , you have to be age compatible and speak basic Brazilian Portuguese , unless of course you are young and very good looking (no language required , your looks will do : ).

Brazilian women are only expensive if they are not attracted to you , or you are in too much of a hurry and do not want to 'romance' them. Ladies of the Night depend on being paid for sleeping over night with you , that is their job , so you have to pay something , yes . She will ask for less if she likes you and if she is not hard up for money , she might do it for free , but that is very much the exception. Today , 2002 (allow for exchange rates/inflation , if your reading this after September 2002) , U$20/30 plus taxi fare , is fair for a lady who you have taken to dinner and spent some time getting to know. Second time with the same one , it could be free , if she is not hard up for money. U$50/70 absolutely tops for a Freelancer you have not spent much time with ( eg Helpee lady ). Note : Help is pronounced Helpee.

If a Helpee chick walks up to you and only says : "how much you want to pay" , smile and stay numb. She's just a fuck machine, not a human being. And in addition , your just an ATM , as far as she is concerned : )

Yes , as I said before , there are some beautiful bodies inside of Help. Some of them are human/warm. Take your time , you might find a gem at a reasonable price , viz U$50 Short Time.

Picking up Freelancers on the Copacabana Beach is always on. They will give you the eye as you pass by . On the beach opposite the Othon Palace Hotel is a good pick up spot. You can also get regular Brazilians girls on the beaches , if your age compatible and speak the language.

In a big city like Rio , the alternative to Freelancers and regular ladies are the Termas and Boites/Nightclubs.

TERMAS :

On entering Termas you are asked to pay an entrance fee only or an all up fee which includes some free drinks , entrance and a girl of your choice for 40 mins. More info on fees as applied to different Terma's , further on.

Once inside , you are taken to a locker room where you disrobe. Some guys keep their underpants on. You are given a locker number which everything is billed against. With a bathrobe and sandals on , you are directed to a Sauna or Shower Room. You are expected to at least shower. After the Sauna/shower you take up position in the 'Lounge/Bar ' area where you will find sexy/scantily clad ladies ,some dancing. It is here that you drink and conduct your 'interviews'. If you select a honey (and you will if you have already paid for one at the front door : ) she will take you to a cabina/room for top sex , usually 40 mins only. It is hard to come across a poor lay in Brazil , Termas no exception.

So, you have got the overall scene. Now names , classifications and prices.

CENTAURUS :

Rua Canning 44 , Ipanema . Opens 5pm to 2am Mondays to Saturdays. About 50/75 women to choose from. Top of the pops , including cost. Work on U$100/R300 as a guide - up front at the door. Includes a girl of your choice for 40 mins. There is a better collection of attractive girls here and they also know something about sex and how to get a guys rocks off. Forget about paying U$100 at Help Disco , drop your one hundred here. Even though it is short (sex itself only 40 mins) , it should be sweet. Don't blame me if it isn't : )

MONTE CARLO & L'UOMO TERMAS :

Run a respectable second to Centaurus. Where Centaurus will cost you all up U$100 , Monte Carlo and L'uomo should cost you in the vicinity of U$75. Some good looking accommodating girls in these places too. Monte Carlo is one block in from Avenida Atlantica. Both are known to taxi drivers , however Luomo is difficult for most guys to find , being on the 2nd Floor of Shopping Mall that sells Antiques and Artworks. There is a Luomo neon outside the building , which is visible at night. Possibly you will get directions on www.luomo.com.br ....I have not as yet , checked that website out.

QUATRO E QUATRO :

Rua Buenos Aires , 44 , Centro. About 15/20 mins taxi ride from Copa'. Catering mainly for local clientele , where little or no English is spoken. It is the biggest Terma of them all , housing 125/150 scantily clad Ladies in three seperate Lounges. Nice strip shows too. Sorry , no prices to quote , but it should be a fun place to visit , especially if you don't speak Portuguese : ). My kind of place , not geared for whorist tourists. Open 12 noon to 1am Mondays to Fridays. Arrive before 5pm when the workers drop in for a 'quickie' on their way home to their wives. "Had to work back late today luv" : )

AEROPORTO :

Another one located in Centro. Ave Beira Mar 215 , Centro. Opens 12 noon to 12 midnight Mondays to Fridays.

OTHER TERMAS : There are cheaper ones with less girls and less quality.
Taxi drivers know all of them.

---------------------------------------

BOITES/NIGHT CLUBS :

1. "Barbarella" - The biggest , is located away from Help , towards the Sugar Loaf end of Avenida Atlantica. U$20 approx. entrance , incl. x 2 drinks. Approx 60 girls with some dancing and strip shows etc. Asking U$100-150 short time plus U$15 departure tax (exit fee). Departure Tax is my expression , Exit Fee theirs : ) With a couple of drinks to the girl of your choice , a ST (usually one hour only) could set you back U$200 in total. These and other Boite/Night Club girls might give you the impression your getting an all night session , but after one poke the girls are out the door and back to the night club looking for another fish. Not value. Keep your eye on your bill/s. When I was there ,I would tick off each beer in front of the waiter. He would report back to the Cashier , that I am counting my beers = no rip off (from them). I did this throughout Rio , but did not find it necessary in the North of Brazil.

Places like Barb' are for tourists , not whorists : ).

You can shag a comparable girl in Recife for 25% of their cost.

Don't forget , the opinions I am expressing are mine. Ask another guy and he might tell you something completely different : ) . After returning from Brazil your personal opinion might be different yet again.

------

2. "La Cicciolina" - Approx U$15 entrance. Overall less girls than Barb' and not quite as expensive.
"Dome" - Ditto , roughly same cost and same mentality.
Others : Munich ; Sensoo ; Pussycat . Most of these are rip off joints. Franks Bar might be so-so.
Princessa Isabel Ave is the Bar/Boite street.

If you had to decide between a Terma and a Boite , you would most probably take the Terma.

------------------------------------

REGULAR CLUBS :

For regular free girls , if your youngish , respectably dressed and can speak some Portuguese - Maxims ; Biratu and Peoples (at Leblon) . Ask your Hotel Front Desk for hints/clues (re regular girls).

If your a big city boy - Rio could be just the spot for you. You should try it, and come to your own conclusions.

You'll need more than a U$150 per day budget though, if you frequent the Boites/Bars/Termas or pay more than the going rate for the numerous Freelancers (incl. Help) .

The following notes concern places outside of Rio :

RECIFE/BOA VIAGEM:

RESTAURANT DANCE PLACES -

As I said, the best pick up places were found through contacts. A Brazilian chap of German heritage, lawyer and accountant, whom I also met at the breakfast table of my hotel, took me to a restaurant/dance place and introduced me to the owner and one of his clients, a Chinaman who had jumped ship in the sixties and married a braziliera. He called his Restaurant Anos 60 (Year 60). I returned to the Restaurant on my own a few days later and parked at a table right at the entrance (spider and fly stuff ) so that I could check the 'merchandise' as it arrived. This was not a regular whore pick up joint, it was for regular brazilians out for an eat and boogie. One thing brazilians can do - dance.

Early in the night , a real saucy cutie stepped in through the doorway with one or two girlfriends , and I made eyes at the cutie, she didnt notice , but her not so pretty girl friend did , and she tapped her pretty girlfriends arm and must have whispered to her "that 'gringo' is making eyes at you". The pretty one turned around, big smile, I drew back the chair, inviting her to join me, this she and her two girl friends did, then began an exciting two/three weeks of fornication and tours around the nightspots of Recife and beyond.

Got two interesting stories to tell about her and her girl friend, will lob in the stories section one day. Anos 60 folded/went out of biz whilst I was in Recife, and in fact I was propositioned to become the chinamans partner,in another similar restaurant, but not knowing the language well enough, not being sure If I wanted to stay in Brazil long term and not liking the way that his Brazilian wife seemed to pull the strings in the background, I declined to get involved. Maybe it was a 'set up' between the accountant and the chinaman, right from the start ? You've got to be alert to these possibilities, when in unchartered waters/foreign lands

So, it is possible to meet non whores, at these regular dance type restaurants , ie girls who do not talk about money beforehand , but who you reward afterwards . Just give some one the eye , they do not put on the 'shy' act like in Asian Countries. If interested, they will either come to your table or beckon you to join them, no probs.

ON THE BEACH -

This is where you will see some beautiful bodies and observe the brazilian male and female interact. It's no problem for a guy to step up to a beautiful body sunbaking on the sand , say hello, and if the vibes are good sit down and have a chat. Brazilian women are mature when it comes to mens advances and sex. They are not afraid of men , and in fact like to be approached. If they have got a nice body and nobody approaches them they feel left out.

The problem for us gringo's is language. A really nice , educated lady will not smile for long if you can not speak reasonable portuguese. The whores will , but not a nice non whore , unless of course you are young and handsome and you have that bloody portuguese language dictionary with you : ) (Ref. 'Language' in the Planning Your Trip Section - below !).

Ive spoken to pick up whores sunbaking on the beach but not to the regular ladies on the beach, cause Im no longer 'young' and I never was 'handsome', ha ha. Been a 'buyer' for a long time now ("Its better to pay for a lay : ).

In Boa Viagem there is an area known to have sunbaking freelancers. Just walk along the promenade & you will see a lot of foreigners (mostly German) sitting on deck chairs and lots of ladies hovering around them . Thats the spot. (Opposite Recife Palace Hotel I think). Freelancers are sprinkled all along the Beach from the strip starting around Shakatak/Bamboo (see below) area to Recife Palace area and a little beyond.

Once I got a beauty on the promenade whilst perving on the bikini clad ladies of the beach. This beauty slid up alongside me, I turned around, great smile, in the taxi and off. All I said was 'taxi' and she nodded yes and off we went.

Around about the same spot on another occasion I was propositioned by a woman who must have been in her mid forties and 6 months pregnant or more. Big belly or not, in the future the baby had to be fed ,so she was still 'selling it' right up to the last. Good on yer mum.

Anything goes in Brazil. There was a time in Recife when I wanted to take a photo of a couple of young beauties in my hotel room and there was a prego one with them with a huge belly who wanted to get into the picture too, and mind you in the nude. She was proud of her big belly and lined up with the cuties. Wish I had that photo now. My policy of tossing photo's out all the time has come back to haunt me. What a shot, two cuties and a prego lady with a big belly all lined up in the nude, smiling their heads off.

PS: Brazilian chicks are not camera shy, as in Thailand , and if your going to take a photo of them in your room a significant number expect you want a nude shot. So, if you ask them for a photo most will then start taking off their clothes. Usually they want a copy of the photo. Once, in Manaus I took family photo's outside the house and then the younger sister of the wench I was romancing ,led me inside the house and upstairs to her bedroom where she took off her clothes, and what a body ! Naturally, I asked why a nude photo ? and she said, she wanted to show her boyfriend what he could get if he was a good boy. These people have got a nice open mind regarding sex.

In Recife another woman who has English ancestry told me - "foreigners talk about sex, we don't, we just do it, its natural, why talk about it ?"

So , getting back to talking about sex : ) and picking up ladies on the beach itself or along the promenade at Boa Viagem . This is feasible, however, generally speaking I personally found the modus operandi more convenient at the nearby Eclipse Disco at night (see below UPDATE) . (Sitting on my back side, sipping beer, whilst the bees hummed around me ).

DISCO PICK UP: Boa Viagem. There were two that I know of , but only one was the place to be - Eclipse. They are alongside the little praca (square) where they hold a market on the weekends and only 100mtrs from Casa Blanca watering hole (drinks restaurant). Head for Casa Blanca, taxi drivers know both Eclipse and Casa Blanca. Prop there 8/9pm and ask where the disco is.

Here is some idea of Eclipse Disco's location : on exiting 'Casa', you turn to your right, walk 100 mtrs across the praca and straight into the Disco. Best pick up place when I was there. Ask around if its gone or whatever. It may be there under a different name. Ask and ye shall receive (misinformation, some times : ) PS: Casa Blanca is also a pick up place. Nothing but Freelancers there. U$20 short time, U$35/50 all night.

UPDATE : September 2002. Eclipse is closed. Next door , mini Bamboo Disco with a dozen or so girls still 'raves' though. No entrance fee , but you have to buy drinks at around R10 (U$3.50 , depends on currency fluctuations). Bamboo girls expect R100/U$30 for 'all night'. Some ask for U$50. There are a number of other small pick up joints in this immediate area also.

CLUBS/BOITES:

Try "Sampa Club" on the corner of Ave Cons. Aguilar and Wilfred Russo Shorto. All taxi drivers know it. U$7 entrance, Ladies U$50/70 all night. Some will ask U$100. They only quote these prices when they don't like you. I did not partake of Sampa ladies. They are too 'professional' (hard) for me , but the place is definitely worth a visit. Exciting little place.

"Scandinavia" not so far away , and a similar place , costs more and is 'lack lustre'.

SMALL BARS:

Next to Eclipse Disco, named "Chakatak" (Shark attack : ) and "Bamboo Bar". Walk around this area, there are more. Ladies same price as Eclipse. UPDATE September 2002 : Chakatak still there , so too Bamboo. Mostly German clientele.

STREET SCENE:

Avenida Conselheiro Aguiar, the bus route road, running parallel to the beach promenade road , especially not far from Sampa Club. U$15 - 30 and up short time, but beware of Transvestites and the possibility of muggings. Don't wander too far away from Sampa. If some distance from Sampa (and thus other people and Sampa's Security guards ) , negotiate from inside the safety of a taxi. Many girls standing on the corners are average to below average quality , so too the price , below average : )

Some of these streets girls can not be seen in Shakatak/Bamboo/Sampa area cause they have robbed foreigners or caused trouble of some sort before. Some are known to be HIV positive and don't want fellow competitors screaming out the fact in front of others. Thus they stand 'in street shadows'.

Better - stick to Shakatak/Bamboo area - more value for your dollar.

CANTINA's:

About a 5/7 minute taxi ride along the beach promenade from the Viagem Disco's heading North and back towards Recife. Now this area was considered a little bit rough/dangerous, but I was sitting there all alone , on the prowl, to 4am on a regular basis and nothing happened , except for picking up nice looking sexy ladies ie. 'Pistoleros', one person told me. That is, some shoot outs in the area, but nothing in my time and some very good pickings, beautiful young ladies at discount prices. Some of them screw for free , if your nice enough. Most of them screw for free if you do not have the look of a 'tourist' (non brazilian). None of the brazilian guys I knew there paid a cent , all got it for free.

Dont expect a very salubrious environment or cantina, but its where the late action is: "Pina, Azuzinho Bar" is what you say to the taxi driver. Pina is the area, and Azuzinho is the name of the Bar. Pronunciation - Peena, Ahzoozeenyo. Alternatively, say to the driver, Zona Pina but that will not get you to Azuzinho Bar specifically. This area is where women come to drink and get laid. Some are looking for money, some are just looking for a good time (no pay). There are a number of bars with women on the lookout in this area, some much bigger than Azuzinho , but I found Azuzinho was the one for me. The other ones were sometimes crowded with yuppie (not for rent) types. Not for rent to older persons anyway, good looking young foreigner no probs - free sex. Hopefully so in your case anyway : )

If its raining , dont bother. Ladies , yuppie or not, do not come to Zona Pina if its wet, cause its mostly open air, although Azuzinho , which is open to the footpath, is under cover. Still, they do not come if it is raining.

WHORE HOUSES:

I did visit one or two brothels and also on another occasion discussed the subject with an English speaking university student working as a waiter, and came to the conclusion that Recife is not great whore house pickings. Exception could be the el cheepo places advertised in the newspapers, but you have to be prepared to do a lot of walking and going in and out of doors before you find something respectable. Takes the shine off sex if you have to tramp all about the place beforehand. Think the majority of Brazilian chicks are too independently minded for whorehouses. A Freelancer is more highly spirited/out going anyway , and there is no clock ticking away in the back of your mind , as there is with whore houses.

OTHER VENUES:

The truth is, that a pick up is always on the cards, anywhere, anytime in Brazil. I have picked up pretty young ladies in the middle of the day whilst innocently eating my midday meal, giving the eye and receiving the come on, the target of my 'affections' then joining my table. But be aware that joining your table usually means your expected to pay the bill at their previous table, regardless of how many persons and how much was consumed at that previous table. So dont give the 'come on' if your not genuinely interested. Got a couple of stories based on that alone. Will unload one day.

Be on the alert for a pick up wherever you are. Its always on the cards. Brazilian chicks are approachable , and they are not backward in coming forward (especially if they are ugly : )

WEEKEND GET-AWAY :

If you want a nice beach with beautiful non whore girls , away from the grime of Recife and brothel atmosphere of Boa Viagem...........head for Porto De Gallinhas. Taxi R100/U$33...Bus R4. It's 60 km South of Recife. Lots of Pubs and Disco's....open air dancing....great music. You never know , you might score a sexy freebie. At least your eyes will get a good work out , and you will possibly finally see what they call a "Brazilian Beauty" : )

JOAO PESSOA:

I went on a marathon bus trip further north from Recife to Belem thousands of kilometres ( 1500/2000 ? ) away , once upon a time, and stopped at Joao Pessoa along the way. I've just looked at the notes in my diary and it says ,eg, "Nightlife non existent, full of flat batteries/dogs.They need a bomb up their ass". I tried a Praia Tambau (beach area 'Tambau') and met a lady who freelanced at the Eclipse Disco in Recife, I mentioned before. She did not over impress, seemed a little on the constipated side, so I did not partake. A further note in my Diary - "A twelve hour town". That says it all. Needless to say, another person could roll in to this town and have a ball, but it wont be me. Wouldnt stop there again. First impressions are lasting impressions.

NATAL:

Next stop was Natal and Ill never forget this little town cause I had a great time with the local ladies. Women here seem to be curious about gringo's, and thats always a good sign. 'Curiosity kills the cat'. Best spot for me was 'Alibi Bar' right alongside the small Massimo Disco on 'a Praia Artista's (Beach of the Artists). Just say to taxi driver , "a Praia Artista's Nightclub (pronounced : a pry-a Arteestahs Nightcloobee) and he should drop you in the heart of the nightclub area, at the roundabout. Ask locals for Alibi Bar, about 200 mtrs walk up the hill. Doubt if taxi drivers know it, very small. Alibi is right next to the Massimo (Mahseemo) Disco, also very small. I did the 'spider and fly' routine there , catching chicks as they entered the disco right alongside Alibi. Met a ripper that way.

Really top stuff. She said she could not enter the Alibi and sit with me cause she owed money to the restaurant. I paid her bill to the restaurant, around U$20 , she then joined me and we were friends and bed pals from that moment on. One of the top bodies I slept with in Brazil. Excellent sex.

Only thing that tarnished our relationship , she seemed to have a boyfriend or brother hovering around at times. He did not cause any problems, but I often wondered who he was. It was a case of 'ask her no questions and she will tell me no lies' : ) He wasn't a pimp and seemed to be emotionally upset at her chatting with me. Think he was romancing her, but she voted for money in lieu. No doubt he got some of the takings.

The security would not let me in to my hotel with this or any other girl, so I always slept at a 'motel/love hotel' type of accommodation. Natal is narrow minded when it comes to bringing chicks back to your room. There were many other whoring spots, in what seemed a small town but most probably wasn't, population wise. The Shopping area wasnt huge but maybe the housing area was. Never got to know it - slept by day, whored by night. Even so, I would hesitate to make a special trip to Natal, even though it happened for me on that trip , cause it might not happen for you, as the potential is limited compared to Recife , Belem, Manaus .

That one girl made it an exciting stop over. Without her, it would not have been the same, although she had an equally attractive girl friend who I would have liked to 'taste' but didnt. Knowing the mentality of brazilians I could have had both, but my 'principles' : ) wouldn't allow me to saviour this part of brazilian culture. Maybe there are lots more pretty ones in Natal, I didnt get much of a chance to see as the one I had, kept me busy. The Brazilian girls really test your heart out ! Physical heart, and sometimes emotional one too. It's a great place to have a heart attack - too much grog, too much energetic humpin and pumpin, too often. Mine must be alright, I survived the onslaught.

FORTALEZA:

This one was given a great 'rap' by the Accountant/Lawyer back in Recife whom I talked about before. I came to call this nice, personable person - 'Mr Misinformation', and it all started with his misinformation re Fortaleza. Also I must add, the old timer American whom I met on the plane to Brazil on my first trip, also said he has an American Doctor friend who flies direct to Fortaleza for a great time with the chicks . Well, that Doctor must be 'sick' or hasn't been anywhere else, cause for my money you can forget Fortaleza.

If your a Casa man, it could be different. (Casa pronounced : car - sah ). There are a significant number of Casa's (Whore houses) in Fortaleza, for example Downtown there are more than thirty. In the rough Barra de Ceara area, a dozen or so and in Praia do Futuro possibly a half a dozen. Do a whore tour with a taxi driver on an hourly basis, say U$4/5 per hour plus petrol money should do, and check out all the whore houses. They open up in the afternoon and go on into the evenings. About 5 - 15 girls in residence, on average. Say U$20/30 for one hour is average price for an average girl and under U$70 for the best of the best.

For Freelancers the pick up area is the Praia do Meireles area opposite Hotel Othon. Here there is a 200mtr strip where the ladies of the night hang around up to about 11pm and then a significant number drift across the road to "Africa's" pick up/whore Disco (Rua Osvaldo Cruz 46) and other places. Maybe they called it Africa cause the chicks there are aanimaal ? : ) Pay no more than U$20/30 for 1-3 hours with an average one. Max U$50 for a special one.

Have a beer at the 'cantina' outside the disco door and watch the chicks milling around, some sitting at the tables. Around fifty to seventy or so attend this disco for the purpose of picking up a guy. The not so successful ones will approach you, the pretty ones will wait for you to give a sign. On one occasion I gave a good looker the entrance fee for the disco. She was my friend from that point on, but even so she was rather 'cool' towards me. I bumped into her regularly, and she always greeted me, but I never partook of her. Too 'cool'/cold/controlled.

In this same area I have just described, there are all kinds of hookers, flagging down passing cars, you name it. Its quite a lively pick up area. Fortaleza being predominantly a tourist town for brazilians and other latin americans, non english speaking whores are a-plenty.

Pirata Bar is a world famous place, but I didnt like the 'animal/aggressive' behaviour of the ugly ones in this town and that prejudiced me against all places including Pirata. Not sure if you can pick up ladies of the night at Pirata, but its reputedly lively inside. I'd just left Natal, a tiny , virtually unknown town with no reputation, where I'd got my rocks off. Fortaleza didn't even approach Natal for friendly girls and fun. Once again, personal experience. Could be different for you.

I never forgot a classic comment by an American outside the entrance to Pirata Bar. Lots of people milling around outside ,including a woman pimping under age girls to Brazilians. This American was 'speaking' to another woman, and I was amused cause he did not speak one word of portuguese and she (all 45 years of her) didnt speak one word of english. She was trying to proposition him to take her back to his hotel, but she had no hope, not - 'fresh green grass'. Anyway, the guy had a sense of humour, cause after a fair bit of to and fro, mostly gibberish (language neither he or she understood) , he turned to leave, and in parting said to her - "nice speaking to you , bring your daughter along next time". She kept smiling, not understanding a word he had said. By this time Id had more than my share of ugly Fortaleza ones approaching me. So I got out of there, not wanting to be her next victim.

I went to Fortaleza expecting a lot and got very little. Maybe if you went there things would turn out better.

There are plenty of places and women on the make but dont forget its very touristy, prices of everything are up, and there is a - 'rip off the tourist' attitude pervading the place.

Yours truly will not try it again. Not my kind of town. The ugly ones are quite aggressive and try to choose you rather than the other way around. I always say - its the buyer who does the choosing and not the seller. I can not relax and enjoy myself in such an environment, so no more Fortaleza.

Forta' is bound to be a great hunting ground for someone. It could be you.

If you have any positive information on the place , please pass it on. Thanks

BELEM:

Fond memories of this town, mainly cause of a taxi driver I came across. No , I'm not gay : ) ........ read on.

In Brazil and Belem in particular, people drive along at night without their car lights on. I got in a taxi once and the driver was travelling at a good speed without his lights on , so I asked him if he wouldnt mind using his lights, "no need I'm a Policeman", says the driver (in Portuguese , not English , of course) .

He explained, that he is a Policeman by day and a taxi driver by night. Ideal person for a whore tour, thought I, and 'inbuilt security' , so I hired him on an hourly basis (minimum of three hours ) and asked him to take me to all of the pick up places in Belem, which he did. Sometimes we would just park outside a house and he would tell me what was on offer inside, other times he parked his taxi and came inside with me , and had a few beers etc. We carried on like this for some hours. As a whore tour , it was a real eye opener.

I have in my diary - "Belem, city of pretty women, lovely trees and a nice atmosphere". Their 'por kilo' (per kilo) Restaurants are the go, as in Natal and other places when you can find them. Smorgasbord/Buffet type restaurants with a large array of food from which you personally choose what you want and how much , then pay by weight.

One of the best nightspots I ever came across (via the Police Taxi Driver) was in Belem, and its called - "La Pinha" where there can be as many as 200 or more chicks on the make. Giant of a 'Show Place' (Nude Show, Entertainers etc). Beautiful girls, great atmosphere, but not cheap, about double Recife rates, say U$40/50 approximately (ST). Add more for currency changes and inflation.

In my diary I noted - "Makes Eclipse in Recife look like a Mickey Mouse Show". Absolutely stunning women of all colours, strip here on stage, plus many ( a choice of hundreds) nice ones , watching the show (and you : ) that you can take home. I remember one good looker, fine tuning her negotiations with what looked like a Brazilian guy, she saw me looking , and came across and double checked whether I wanted her( before she finalised negotitations with the brazilian guy).

'Never get between a dog and its bone', (especially when there are lots of bones) so I said - "no thanks", and let the guy take her unhindered.

It was quite frustrating leaving La Pinha with a honey, when there were more honeys streaming into the place in the opposite direction. There were so many to choose from that it was hard at times making up ones mind. One good thing, just give them the eye and they come across and sit at your table, check em out,if you lose interest , they take off and you can easily replace them with another one. A fussy whorist can conduct lots of 'interviews' at this place. Some nights I would have had at least ten to fifteen different girls stop at my table. Never left empty handed.

So, Belem, far away as it is - recommended for the serious purist whorist/true believer. Especially cause your only one hop away from Manaus, which is certainly worth a visit. Of course, these are only my personal opinions and experiences. It might not turn out the same for you.

Another pick up spot is "Bar do Parque" in Praca (Park) do Republica. Relatively safe on exiting , but be on your guard, just the same. Some of the surrounding streets are the location for some small casa's (whore houses) too. Transvestites also frequent this park area.

If you come across a pleasant taxi driver, hire him for a whore tour at U$4/5 per hour plus petrol and gain an overview of what is on offer, then backtrack to the favourite spots.

MANAUS:

I would have no hesitation returning to this city. Not big in its shopping centre (any that I saw) , but big population wise. You've heard about its Opera House, built with rubber money (not plastic money : ). Well Manaus has got that and more - mosquito's for starters.

This place was given a great rap by the lawyer/accountant in Recife too, and he was largely correct in what he said about the place but totally incorrect in other aspects.

Once again, a great taxi driver made the difference. But before I tell you about him I will also let you know that I met the worst taxi driver ever in Brazil , in the same town. Met the 'baddy' first then the goody second. Won't waste your time talking negatives about the baddy, onto the goody. His name was Jose and I send him and his family Post Cards from time to time , but dont give him my address cause he does not speak a word of English, and it would be a problem deciphering what he was saying in his letters. He always thought I knew more Portuguese than I did. He would rattle away non stop whilst driving along , pause occasionally and say, 'comprehende' (= understand) I didn't have the heart to say no , so I'd smile and nod my head "yes" (when I didn't have even a clue as to what the subject of discussion was sometimes). It's embarassing ad- libbing on and on forever, not sure of what your agreeing to.

This lad took me back to his home and introduced me to his lovely family. He has a sideline too - making furniture, and showed me samples of his work at the back of his house. Hope he didn't expect me to buy any of it and lug it back overseas with me. Perhaps during my ad libbing I'd agreed to buy the lot ? : )

Well, he took me to a spot where a guy sits on a wall . I had previously described to Jose what Im looking for (fresh green grass) and boy did Jose' contact ( sitting on the wall) deliver - two bunches of fresh green grass, fit for munching on forever. I had a hard time deciding which one to take, both had great boobs, bodies and lovely smiles. Natural looking young ladies. No hint of 'whore' in them .

Jose said "take both of them", and I thought , why not, so I took both. Whacko, what a time I had. They were the supreme of the supreme. One advantage brazilian chicks have over Thais and Filipina's - full body size (not small).
Unfortunately I never saw these girls again, even though Jose took me back to the same spot. No guy sitting on the wall , but we found the house they lived in , but they were 'out'. I got the impression that they were most probably home, but didnt want their neighbours to know they were 'selling it' , cause the first time I had them, they got Jose to drop them off a couple of streets away from their house. The next (second) time I should have waited in the taxi. A gringo wandering around looking for two young ladies was a bit too obvious for the neighbours. Better for mumma to say the girls were out than the neighbours to see them walk off with a gringo and then hop in a taxi with him.

Manaus, has a reputation for being dangerous, but there I was little me, couldn't fight my way out of a paper bag, and I never ran into trouble. It's a good pick up place. If you have nice blue eyes the girls will follow you around Manaus like a magnet. Blue eyes are 'out of stock' (to coin a phrase) in Manaus, so if you've got good blue ones, you'll be a busy little beaver. Add to that , blonde hair and your a Movie Star ! . No blue eyes ? then purchase some false throw away (brilliant blue) contact lenses and see what happens to your sex life, with and without them, in Manaus : ) Do a trial, and report back to HQ (whorist.com) . Fun times will be assured. A laugh a minute when they stare at those bits of plastic.

How do I know ? I did it. Bought some plastic sapphire blue (way out ..... vampire blue ) contact lenses in London and whizzo.....lots of fun and pretty girls - Manaus.

Try the area near Teatro Amazonas (Opera House), park at a joint opposite , drink a beer and see what happens. Not a lot for me when I was there , but then I'm impatient, 15 mins and I was out of there. My taxi driver recommended the area, but it just did not happen on the one occasion I tried it. A Boite/Club with strip tease called "Jet Set" is located nearby. U$30/70 for a stripper 1/2hrs plus U$20 take out fee. "Skorpions Drinks", Rua Mundurucus 52 , Central Manaus is also worth a peek. U$35/50 for a lady in one of their rooms, 1/2hrs.

Festa da Gloria was tops for me but not sure if its only action time during the first and second week of June of each year when I was there. The main attraction, was a huge Cultural Show held in the middle of a football field. At least five hundred girls in attendance, many (non professional) hanging around outside without the money to enter. Time to pounce : )

Sitting at a table on the football field under a full moon, wonderful stage show, heaps of piss (beer) and girls on the prowl (non professional, but looking for a drink and a boogie). It kept going to sun up - typical Brazilian . Just say "Festa Gloria" to any taxi driver , and he knows. (Festa this, Festa that, they know ). Met a very nice girl there, never poked her, didnt have time for 'romance'. 2/300 girls hanging around outside Sao Raimundo Esporte Clube, Gloria during that time. Actually had them fighting over me.True, not an exaggeration, got a bit feisty at one stage. Festa time, the girls go crazy, especially if your endowed with a nice pair of blue eyes (like me.... ha ha) . Alternatively, walk around dropping U$5 notes all over the place : )

Festa Cidade Nova was also supposed to be good, but I didnt have time for it. Gloria was too good. And another one Festa da Cachoeirinha on Fridays and Saturdays, but from what I briefly saw of it , more of a yuppie crowd.

"Mixtura Brasileira", Rua (Street) Ajuricaba, Bairro (area/suburb) Cachoeirinha is an unbelievably huge outdoor piss up (drink) scene with heaps of good stuff (ladies) on the prowl. Mixture of good girls and bad girls. So too a bar (do boi) "Djalma Batista".

Little parks, praca's/squares - Praca Da Saudade, especially Sundays. Praca da Matriz is where I met an Amazonian beauty, half portuguese half amazonian. She took me home to meet mumma. She pursued me around town, true, she was fascinated with my eyes : ) and told the manageress of my hotel so, but Im not one to park very long in the one spot, especially when they are beautiful. Might get silly ideas of going steady or spending up big on the lady : ) Didnt travel all the way to Brazil to go steady with one jovem mulher/garota ( young woman) .
Of course there are times, in retrospect, that you think that it would have been nice to linger longer, but overall the 'hit and run' strategy is best. It works for me, but maybe not for everyone else.

PS: Do not hang around the praca's (squares/parks) late at night - danger. Absolutely off limits. Afternoon and early evening only. When you see the good people drifting off ...... like a good whorist ..... you leave with them.

So, thats an extremely quick run through of northern brazil. I had to dash through it, otherwise Ill never get this info out .

Oops, forgot another place I visited, ( cause its south of Recife) - Salavador City. Will get to that another day. Very intriguing place, also with a reputation of being dangerous, but not for me. (Full of ugly girls : )

That's it .........use the above Nightlife info as a ROUGH GUIDE only. It's a lot more than what I had , both first and second time (1995) to Brazil . See Brazil Stories/Experiences Section of the website , in particular '2nd trip to Brazil'. It might help you to get an overview.

OTHER

NON SEX INFO

(Planning your Trip ; Accommodation ; Restaurants ; Culture ; Miscellaneous)

1. PLANNING YOUR TRIP

NOTE:

1. A lot of what was said in the "Thailand Planning Your Trip" notes, also applies to planning your trip to Brazil. Suggest you read those notes too .

2. Even though some of the following information is not currently 'fresh' it is still worth reading for those with little or no experience in respect of Brazil.

Places and prices (eg Hotels/Restaurants/Nightlife Venues/Rates/Prices) might change but the core information that follows will hopefully be still of some use/value. Wish I had such information/advice when I first went there : ).

UPDATE : Late September 2002 . Accommodation prices etc might now be a little out of date , nevertheless the following info is worthwhile reading for the newbie. Suggest after reading the info below , you scour the internet and compare with what you find elsewhere.

OVERALL: You will find Brazil 'another planet' , inhabited by the sexiest jungle bunnies on earth. Language and thus communication will be a problem sometimes, but if you stay in the Tourist (Whorist) areas you should be right. Compared to Thailand and the Philippines your cash resources will be tested, especially if you stay in Rio de Janiero. Street crime is higher than Thailand and the Philippines, but with common sense and following the guide lines contained herein , you should have no major problems in that regard. After having served your apprenticeship in Thailand and the Philippines, Brazil is a definite must for the purist whorist.

INSIGHT: The more you know before you engage the 'enemy' : ) the better. A book called "How to be a Carioca" is worth buying and reading before you set out on your 'sortie'. A great insight into the Brazilian character. Available through www.amazon.com . Nice read on the plane to Brazil. Alternatively purchase at newstands on arrival at the Brazilian Airport or elsewhere at regular Brazilian bookstores. Better still , order it through your local bookstore now ! Sorry no ISBN number/Author etc.

LANGUAGE: The first thing to do before zapping off to Brazil is to purchase an English/Portuguese-Portuguese/English Dictionary. Ive got a smallish 'Collins Pocket Portuguese Dictionary' with a durable plastic cover. It gives you an all important guide as to how to pronounce the language too. Do not land in Brazil without a word of Portuguese to your name and no dictionary - suicide. You'll see in the Stories Brazil Section that I made that mistake on my first trip to Brazil and paid dearly, especially if you then read the story about my second trip when I got stuck into the language and the difference it made.

You will need to know the portuguese equivalent of :

1. "How Much" ? 2. Numerals ( 1 to 100 should do for starters ) 3. "Expensive" 3. "I do not speak Portuguese" 4. "I am learning Portuguese" 5. "Do you speak English/French..." ? (really, a silly question, cause we all know the answer - no !) But its letting them know that English/French, or whatever, is your native language. 6. "Hello" 7. "Bye for now" etc etc but that Dictionary will be your life saver. Point at an English word and the Portuguese equivalent is next to it. Show them the Portuguese/English section (at the back in mine) and they will point at a portuguese word which will have the English equivalent next to it. That way you can have a conversation of sorts. Sorry, nothing about blow jobs/short time etc in it : )

Pay a visit to a language book shop in your home country and see if they have any CD's/Tapes/Books or any 'gadget' that will help you communicate in Brazilian Portuguese. Usually they are a book/tape combination. The money and time you spend on this project will pay off big, believe me. You will save money, get better chicks and enjoy yourself more, if you have a smattering of Portuguese. Don't forget, the Brazilians pronounce portuguese differently to the 'fatherland' (in Portugal) and therefore ideally you want instructions on 'Brazilian Portuguese'.

I have a number of tapes from my second trip to Brazil. Through my Americano contact , who I met on the plane on my first trip, I met a young brazilian university student (on my 2nd Trip) who had spent some time in America as an exchange student, and who spoke english fluently. I paid him to come to my hotel room and place on tape a very large vocabulary. I would walk around , ride in a taxi or whatever playing those tapes through my walkman and picked up enough of the language to be able to communicate and have a great time.

Confuscious says : "Pick up the language and you'll pick up the dames" : )

VISA,AIR TICKET,INSURANCE:

PASSPORT - As with most, if not all countries, your passport must be valid for at least six months at the time of entry into Brazil, otherwise possible problems on arrival. Once in the country your supposed to carry the passport with you and show on request to Police etc but a photocopy of relevant pages (mug shot with passport number ; visa) should suffice. Tell them you keep the actual passport back at the hotel for security reasons.

Tourist Card: On entry you will be issued with an all important Tourist Card. Make sure you make a photocopy of it as soon as pos. and you do not lose the card itself as your exit from the country will be very difficult without it. Carry your passport and tourist card photocopies together, on your person in a secreted safety pouch.

VISA - Check at the Brazilian Consulate/Embassy in your home country whether you need one or not. Normally ninety day visa's are issued and when you are in the country you can get another ninety day visa when the first one expires ex a Policia Federal Office in most of the main towns/cities. Best to apply a week before the expiry date. Proof of an onward ticket, spare passport photo and a Passport valid for six months beyond your date of arrival , is the usual requirement before they will entertain any of these visa's/extensions. Best to double check this Passport and Visa info. with a Brazilian Consulate/Embassy in your home country before departure, as they do change requirements etc from time to time. The better your home work/preparation before departure, the better the trip itself.

ON ARRIVAL AT BRAZILIAN AIRPORT- You will have to qualify as per Passport and Visa notes above (including onward ticket) plus I would not arrive in Brazil without an up to date W.H.O. Vaccination Certificate which you secure through your local Doctor or Vaccination Centre in your home country. See Health Notes below for more info.

When this website "whorist.com" gets organised you will be able to apply through us for a 'whorist visa', which will eliminate a lot of the hassles on arrival , and place you a cut above the tourists and their tourist visa's.
Aah whorist visa, the immigration officer will say, "pass through" : ) Joking , of course.

Rio de Janiero - as you exit Customs, turn to your right and buy a Taxi ticket at the assigned Booths for approx U$30, fixed price for the Copacabana area. This will ensure you have a hassle free trip to your hotel. Alternatively try the licensed and metered Yellow Cabs, who will haggle about the cost even though they have meters. Avoid taxi touts and any other hangabouts 'preying' on newcomers to Brazil. This or other Airports - use the Information Desks.

AIR TICKET - It's difficult to get a cheap air ticket to Brazil, especially when you live on the other side of the world. The Agencies keep saying "its expensive cause it's not a popular route" and I keep correcting them and telling them "but it is a popular root" . I don't think cheap tickets to Planet Brazil exist, so you will have to do some shopping around. This is an impediment to anyone wanting to visit the country and often deters me from travelling to Brazil again. Compounded with that is the poor exchange rate (improved in 2001/2002) compared with earlier years , and the recent inflation with accommodation and transport. But the time will never be right/perfect, so if you want to go, I say go, and to hell with the expense.

INSURANCE - If you have read the Thai Notes you will know that I have never , ever taken out travel insurance of any kind. But what is good for the goose is not necessarily good for the gander. If you feel more comfortable with Insurance take it out, including Health Insurance, Theft & Loss (baggage etc). Best to shop around (eg Travel Agents) and don't forget to read the fine print before handing over that hard earned cash. You do earn your money the hard way don't you : )

PHOTOCOPIES - As with all other overseas travel it pays to have photocopies of passport visa page and mug shot page which also shows your passport number; first page of your airline ticket with ref. numbers; atm/credit card and thus numbers; travellers cheques receipts, showing place of purchase, ref. numbers etc and finally a photocopy of your birth certificate. These photocopies should be kept seperately from the original documents themselves, so that if you lose one you do not lose the other at the same time. It's not being paranoid, its just being careful. No good learning the hard way , although I must admit, I do most of the time.

HEALTH PRECAUTIONS:

IMMUNISATIONS - Make sure you are fully immunised before departing for the tropics of Brazil. Call on your Doctor and see what courses he recommends. Some have to be started months before you depart. And when in Brazil do not drink tap water or drinks with ice in them. The water might be contaminated. Typhoid is always a risk. Finally, use condoms , HIV and STD's are alive and well in Brazil.

Malaria - as yet no immunisation for it. If your one of those people that mosquito's like, then check with your Doctor, although as far as I know the brazilian coastline is relatively safe of malaria, but don't quote me on that .

OTHER - If you depart for Brazil healthy, your off to a good start. Medications - easily obtainable over the counter. Take generic info with you as your particular brand might not be available. Teeth - I don't like the idea of letting third world dentists play with my teeth so I always make sure they are ok before departing on a lengthy overseas sojourn, suggest you do likewise. Condoms - use them, Brazil has its share of Aids and more. I always take trusted brands with me. Do I always use them ? That's another story : ) Some KY Gel might come in handy too , although its available in Brazil.

MONEY MATTERS:

NOTE: Reading the Thai notes will also be helpful regarding the subject of 'money'. Add to those notes:

Eggs - as with Thai notes do not have all your eggs in the one basket. Details , Thai notes.

Changing Money - Different to Thailand. You won't find the exchange booths facing onto the street as in Thailand. At one stage I was changing TC's with a brazilian business friend of an American I met on the plane to Brazil. Other times I went to a high security money exchange office, but mostly I changed at the banks. There is quite often a big queue at the banks, but not at the International Desks where you change your TC's and can get cash advances on your Credit Card. Make sure your TC's or notes are in U$ currency. Do not change money with anyone who approaches you in the street , or any other strangers. Dynamite !

Amex are the easiest TC's to change but carry a surcharge. Beware, some banks charge U$10 or more for each and every TC changed. So the shot is, to have large denomination TC's (Travellers Cheques).
Refunds for lost/stolen TC's can be extremely slow. If the amount is significant, you might not even get a refund whilst in Brazil. I know personally of one guy who waited five and a half months for a refund and yet he had his purchase receipts etc and this was only after he got his Lawyer in his home country to threaten the issuer concerned. Issuers don't like 'stolen in Brazil' TC claims. Sus, they reckon.

Cash Advances on credit cards is another way , especially if you have a Visa Card. Check in your home country before departure, which banks in Brazil will give you cash advances for your particular card. Most folks like to lodge their travel money into their credit card before departure and only use their credit card, which is more convenient to carry and easier to conceal from would be thieves than say TC's. However, I would also recommend having some TC's and some cash, just in case the unlikely happens - you lose your credit card. Don't have all your eggs in the one basket.

ATM's - Visa best. Ask in your home country if your card is readily useable in Brazil. Some banks can give you a little booklet which lists all the banks in the towns/cities around the world that have atm's for your card. Special booklet for the North, Central and Latin America. For security reasons do not use street atm's, go inside the bank and get your money there. Secrete the money away into your safety pouch whilst inside the bank. Alternatively, exit the bank with your hand on your holster : )

International Transfers - That is, from your home bank to a specific bank in Brazil. Personally I do not recommend this , even though I've done it and got my money after weeks of frustration and expense of long distance calls and faxes ('95). Only in desperation get involved with Bank to Bank transfers. Even so, a good boy scout would do his research on this subject before departure. Have a chat with your Bank, tell them where your going etc and get a list of 'Corresponding Banks' in Brazil, ie, banks that your bank has direct transfer arrangements with. The common problem with this method of getting money is, the money gets holed up in say Rio De Janiero, even though you have requested a direct transfer to say , Recife, thousands of kilometres away. Recife has direct transfer arrangements, but the banks like to hold on to your money and thousands of other travellers money amounting to millions in total, so they can make more money. I would make arrangements for the possibility of direct transfer, but would not rely on it or use it, only if desperate.

Change/Coins/Small Money - Ask for such when you are changing at a bank. Change is quite often hard to come by outside on the street. Some use the shortage of change in Brazil as an excuse to charge you more. I keep my treasure of change hidden in my day bag , and routinely offer larger notes so as to get more change. If the seller is genuinely short of change I pull out the exact amount from my day bag (slung over the front) where I keep small notes and coins (and other bits and pieces, eg condoms and ky gel : ).

Budget for Brazil - Today, a purist whorist and genuine 'true believer' travelling to Brazil to party and taste the local maidens budget style , would need U$150 per day. The more the better, cause when the money flows so too does the honey. Especially if your sole destination is the more expensive Rio De Janiero in the South. My "First trip to Brazil", Story/Overview in the Stories Section was on a very small budget. My second trip to Brazil was an altogether different experience , and one of the main reasons , if not the main reason was, I spent in excess of U$150 per day on average. Some days only U$100 , others U$300, but on an average - one hundred and fifty or more all up. Its an individual thing of course,ie, what standard of hotel your willing to accept (cockroaches and cold water : ); whether you prefer to truly dine (classy Restaurants) or your happy with the el cheepo por kilo restaurants which, while not always easy to find, are around ; whether your young, blonde haired/blue eyed and considered handsome. Blonde haired blue eyed guys fair better by the way , especially in the North. But money is a great leveller and the 'ladies of the night' always respect a 'generous' gent , regardless of the colour of his hair/eyes, weight, age etc.

The local currency is called the Real (pron. Hair owl, with the r being very light) More than one Real is Reais (pron. Hair - ice) . To check the exchange rate before departing you can look up : www.xe.net/ucc

------------------------------

I always say you meet real people and real experiences (including real sex) if you stay away from the upmarket places. I started out on my very first trip 'upmarket' early on, met a guy who was 'downmarket' (cockroaches & cold water : ) , travelled with him, and then soon realised the advantages of 'budget travel', ie, without giving up sex and becoming a 'backpacker'. Got nothing against the true blue backpackers by the way. When your young, money is tight. To each his own - we perv on beautiful ladies, they perv on beautiful mountains and streams : )
It's normal in Brazil to ask for a discount on quoted hotel rates, viz : tem desconto ? (pronounced : tame des-konto) which means 'have discount' ? Or just say " a vista" ? (aah veestah) , which means 'for cash' (ie how much if I give you cash up front).

Tipping - Its expected that you add the obligatory 10% , eg at Restaurants, Cantina's and the like. If the Hotel Receptionist has been a good 'Secretary' for you, ie, told girls your out when in actual fact your in and poking some else etc, then , nice manners towards such people whilst your in residence (good morning, good evening, how are you etc ) and a nice tip when you check out would be appropriate ( me today, U$10 - 20 max ) , especially if there is a chance you will be returning to that same hotel some time in the future. When your whoring, good relationships with the front desk and the doormen is important.

I take little souvenirs with me from my home country, things that cost only a dollar or so ( tiny pins; stickers etc )and give them to people on tour. Little gifts like that can work wonders. (Grease the system : ). The girls think its romantic , but maybe not the hardened whores of Rio who frequent places like "Help". Depends who your dealing with.

Taxi drivers in Brazil do not expect a tip, but leaving them with the loose change won't do any harm. If you come across a particularly good taxi driver, hang on to him, he might have the key to good times (the right venues). I hung on to good taxi drivers in both Belem and Manaus. They made all the difference to my stay in those towns.

TRANSPORTATION:

TAXI's : Some folks have problems with Brazilian taxi drivers. Overall, they have been ok for me, and sometimes 'brilliant' , mainly I think cause I stayed in the North of Brazil. Wouldnt be surprised if Rio taxi drivers were a pain. When I was in Rio, I found the buses and underground rail (metro) satisfactory. Caught taxis on odd occasions only, no probs.

The worst taxi driver ever was a guy in Manaus. Also met the best taxi driver ever in Manaus. So you never know. If you can tell the driver your destination with a little of the portuguese language thrown in , I reckon it helps. That is , add 'por favor' (pronounced : paw faa-vor) after the name of your destination, will help. It means 'please'. In fact drop 'por favor' all over the place and it does wonders. ''New York City, por favor". "uma cerveja, por favor" ; "uma mais", por favor (one beer please; one more please).
Por favor, read on.

BUSES: Short trips - Problem is, you've got to know where to get off ! Maybe a taxi ride first, then regularly a bus thereafter. Pickpockets abound in this form of transport (buses). Don't stay down the back of the bus where the thieves usually reside (but they could be anywhere). Work your way to the front of the bus , which also helps you to get off quickly when you reach your destination. One lady unzipped my day bag (slung in front of me) and got her hands inside the bag before I woke up to what was going on. All happened in a sardine crush of people (myself included) fighting their way onto the bus. Watch out for crowded situations. A German-Brazilians beautiful daughter (who I knew) and all other passengers, were robbed of their watches, cash, valuables on a suburban bus in Recife once. Four guys entered, then when in the right area (no police station etc) , pulled out their guns, and when the plundering was completed, told the driver to pull over, jumped off the bus and into a waiting car that pulled up behind the bus. Don't carry significant valuables with you when on buses, although I did just that on my bus trip from Recife to Belem thousands of kilometres away north, without incident. (I am told that the bus trip Salavador southwards is rife with highway bandits)

Long trips - You take a risk with highway bandits and you take a risk with the driver. They drive like hell. Most Brazilian drivers imagine themselves as the next Ayrton Senna. They could be right, especially if they are thinking of meeting their 'maker' soon. Red lights mean pass through with caution. Diving from one lane to another, weaving through traffic is not uncommon. Also don't be surprised to see cars running around at night with no lights on.
Their road toll statistics are horrific, yet I must have travelled 3000 kilometres or more (up and back) when I did the Recife-Belem-Recife bus trip and survived to tell the tale. Only one serious incident, where we nearly ran into a vehicle and people on the side of the road. The parked vehicle had probs, bonnet up etc, it was night time. Our driver swerved so violently to miss them, that we ended up on the other side of the road heading for the embankment, and this was at 'who knows' kms per hour (big speed). My fellow passengers screamed, and after the driver regained control headed for him , about ten of them, and casticated him for his lack of driving skills. At the very next bus depot the majority of passengers, say forty or so, disembarked and refused to re-embark unless they got a new driver - which much to their credit and my relief, they did get.

If I was a bit short of cash I would still travel on their long distance buses. One of the tricks is to split your trip up like I did. For example I stopped at Joa Pessoa (forget it, dont stop there, it was a mistake) then Natal (good), then Forteleza (so-so, worth a 'look see' ) then direct to Belem. That way you will hopefully get 'refreshed' drivers and not someone popping pills all the way down the line. In my opinion, Belem is worth getting to, any which way. (See Nightlife Notes).

AIR - I declined to go up the mosquito infested Amazon on boat to Manaus, as I didnt like the perceived lack of security of my valuables whilst sleeping at night, plus I wasn't willing to wait the five or more days to get there, eating fish heads and rice along the way : ) . I flew Air Varig, Belem-Manaus-Belem. Air fares are not cheap, you might like to enquire at the time of purchasing your regular ticket to Brazil in your home country, about "Air Passes" which give you 3 or possibly up to 5 stopovers - check, for approximately U$450. This is one of the cheapest ways to fly around Brazil. Only prob. valid for three weeks, once you have started using it. You have to buy these Air Passes before you enter Brazil.

As an alternative to an Air Pass purchased in your home country before departure you should consider a 'Transbrasil' ticket when your in Brazil. Transbrasil is valid for one year and I think it gives you six stopovers. Air Varig also have a special deal. Check them all out.

TUK TUKS & JEEPNEYS - Sorry, Brazil 'no have'/out of stock : )

2. ACCOMMODATION:

I would put Brazils Accommodation in the 'ok' category only, although I have had some wins sometimes.

RECIFE: One such win was in Recife when I stayed in a big room on the fifth floor of Hotel Central, Rua Manoel Borba 209, that is , 209 Manoel Borba Street. This is in the centre of the city and every taxi driver should know it. Ive mentioned this Hotel in my stories. Might write a book about the place and the experiences I had there during a six months period of full on whoring. Fond memories. When I first stayed there it was U$15 a night, but with currency changes and inflation it could be U$35 by now. I'd still stay there at U$50 a night, if only for sentimental reasons and 'ambience'.

If you happen to go to Hotel Central , do not expect paradise. What pleases me might not please others. Also, the management was rather shaky during my stay, too many vacant rooms, and I wouldnt be surprised if the Manager (also lessee) has folded his tent and moved on.

Another possibility for you is an Apartment out at Boa Viagem, opposite possibly the key spot for ladies, Eclipse Disco. Enquire at the Apartments opposite Eclipse. Friend of mine got an Apartment there for U$20 per day. Nice and handy to the action. Sorry, friend did not pass on specifics (name etc). Important lads, if you can supply specifics.

UPDATE : September 2002. Eclipse Disco is no more , but there is still sufficient action in the same area.

MANAUS: Another win for me was in Manaus, but unfortunately my notes are a bit hazy on which accommodation it was that suited me. I can visualise it, and would find it with a taxi, not sure, but think it was "Rio Branco", an el cheepy that most whorists would not like and located in Rua dos Andradas 484. Breakfast was included in the tariff, but don't bother to front for it, it was a joke (whereas breakfast at Hotel Central Recife was a smorgasbord feast) . Can not take chicks back to it, but that is a plus cause you can't be robbed overnight etc. Manaus is notorious for 'no overnight guests'. To put it simply - no whores in your room. This is one of Manaus' negatives, but the positives certainly outnumber the negatives. One of the main reasons I liked this spot was because I just walked down the hill and I was in 'pick up city'. Everything was at my feet. Also there were intriguing cantina's around me,eg 'Voce Decide', Avenida Joaquim Nabuco. In short , an interesting area. Plus, I had a big room at the very top of the building , which I think was only four floors up. My room was an addition to the hotel and sat on the flat cement roof. (Found my notes, yes Branco and Room 402, right on top) .

Outside my room was an unusual monkey, straight out of the amazon jungle no doubt. Someone to greet me when I got up in the mornings : ) As you know, I like to personally wash my clothes. Being on the top deck I could do this and with a good breeze, my clothes were dry in a couple of hours. Add to that a view of the huge River Negro only a hundred metres or so away. Ten kilometres down stream and it meets up with another huge river and when that happens you have got the Amazon River proper. Think Branco was about U$10 a night, so you could afford to pay for short time hotels/motels when you had a lady, and for me , that was often. Hotel Sao Paulo was a bit of a rough dive not far away where I 'long timed' (overnighted) a pretty Japanese-Brazilian gal. Great stuff, typical top drawer Brazilian sex. She invited me to her home town further north to meet her Jap father and Brazilian Mother. However, not long after meeting her she migrated to Japan with mum and dad . Could write a lot about her, how I met her, who I met through her etc. Great fun. She was one of the 'gems' I met in Manaus, about five in all. Five gems in one town is good pickings.

There is another Hotel I heard about which was apparently of better standard and didn't mind overnight guests. Its name was "Hotel Dona Joana". Around U$15 per night. Should be a better standard than Rio Branco.

If your like an open book, things happen. If you walk around with a sad face, nothing happens. The girls seem to be keener in Manaus than any other place I visited in Brazil. Foreigners seem to be a real 'specialty' in that far away place. Met only one foreigner whilst there, in Praca da Matriz, he was from Birmingham , England. He told me he arrived on a one way ticket and had spent all of his money and his mother refused to send him any more. With friends like that, who needs chicks : )

BELEM: Experiences with accommodation were so-so. Belem was not a success story for accommodation, although I found a spot that looked good, just before I boarded the plane to Manaus. I took note of it : Hotel Sao Geraldo, (next to Casa Francesa) Rua Padre Prudencio 56 (Phone 091.223-4800). Daytime its a pedestrian (and chick hangabout ) area only, don't know if a taxi can get in there at night. Chicks hanging around the restaurant down below. I checked out Room 41 and it looked suitable for my purposes, but possibly not for yours : ) Also, a foreigner who I met at a Bank recommended Hotel Novo Avenida, Ave Presidente Vargas 404 for around U$20 per night. Should be a good location, don't know about the over night guest policy though.
Belem is a big sex city (see my Nightlife Notes) but 'no overnight guests', greets you everywhere. It did me , anyway, possibly cause I was staying in the el cheepo places ? Had to 'do the deed' away from my regular place of accommodation which was central to everything else anyway (por kilo restaurant, pick up park, lovely tree lined streets, bank etc).

FORTALEZA: Did not have the o/n guest prob. here, but did not want to 'indulge' either . The only place that I got the two together (no prob with o/n guests and plenty of o/n guests to choose from) was Recife and short time hotels in Salavador and Rio, but that doesnt mean it can not happen in other places. That was just my peculiar experience. Imagine, a country with more sexy girls than Thailand and Philippines put together and 'no overnight guests' confronting you all too often. Think it's because of the trouble the girls cause for management and pos. guests too , although I was trouble free except for a couple of occasions, one expensive one in Recife. (Could happen anywhere, any which way, I don't blame Recife).

In Forta' I stayed at a relatively modern o/n guest place called "Villa Marina", Rua Monsenhor Bruno 104 (Praia de Iracema) U$15. Fifty metres from the beach itself but a long walk , say 20 mins , from the action strip on the beach (Praia do Meireles) and surrounds . Nothing happens until you get to that strip (see Nightlife Notes). Others - Solar da Praia Hotel, Rua Silva Paulet 205 (c/r of Silva Jatahy St) which is five streets further up towards the action strip U$15/20 and finally "Pousada Maua", Rua Visconde de Maua 140, much closer to the action, but full at the time.

NATAL: had the same prob as Belem, no o/n guests, but a great time just the same. Stayed at Pousada Sertanejo , Rua Princessa Isabel 481 (por kilo restaurant just a few metres up on same side). Banged the ladies in 'love hotels' (not Sertanejo).

JOA PESSOA: Forget it. Accom so-so, nightscene and attitude of those involved 'flat', to say the least. I stayed at Hotel Aurora. Hotel Guarany nearby on Rua Marachel Almeida Barreto 18l was another possibility, but who needs it ? : ) If you can charge up the 'flat batteries' in this town your a genius.

SALVADOR: (south of Recife) was ok for accommodation. I stayed in a short time hotel in Praca da Se called "Sao Francisco" , not far from Pelourinho where I ate. It was incredibly cheap, and grungy/sleazey , about U$7/10 I think, but full of 'nightlife action' , encounters with fellow whorists and 'observations'. Hotel Pelourinho in Rua Alfredo de Brito is nice (so too its restaurant) but four times Francisco's price and not as 'lively'.

RIO DE JANIERO : No real prob in finding satisfactory accom, there is so much on offer. Gloria District is el cheepo/sleaze territory. If you dare, stay at Hotel Opera (Rua Santo Amaro 75, Catete) where yours truly slummed it for a time. "Sleaze Heaven". Nice location, grotty rooms, whores as your next door neighbour, Flavela's (slum dwellings) above you and looking like they are about to slip down on top of your head, especially during the wet season. Fun place. (Sounds like it, says he with a glee).

I had two hotels at the same time. Opera for 'kicks' /amusement at U$10 and another , far superior but 'sanitised' , a block away, for U$7. Opera for a moll, if any were on offer, and second one (got its card somewhere, forgot its name) to wash my clothes and have an undisturbed sleep (from all the molls screaming out, tapping on your door, playing loud music etc at Opera.).

----------------------------------------

More recent info:

Hotel Debret - Avenida Atlantica/Rua Almirante Goncalves, Copacabana. Facing HELP Debret is in the 2nd block up to your left. Cheapest rooms U$60 approx plus 5%tax. Room facing beach costs extra. Includes breakfast. U$10/15 approx for o/night guest Also convenient to beach and Help. Ph. 522 0132 Email: sales@debret.com or www.debret.com and enquire about their current rates etc.

Hotel Rio Roiss - Rua Aires Saldanha 48, Copacabana. Phone 5221142 . Directly behind Othon Palace hotel, one block from beach. U$70 plus 5%tax . Incl’s breakfast which is good. Check if fee for overnight guest. If ST only, no sleep = no o/n fee. Safe ($) - yes. Bigger rooms than Debret. Their exchange rate is ok.

Alternatively , check in to one of them first night , then move on to an Apartment at U$60/70 per night. No probs with girls in Apartment accom. But be on alert for 'room thefts' from your 'guests' (Ladies).

3. RESTAURANTS:

Overall, you can eat well in Brazil, especially at the smorgasbord/buffet places. If your a meat eater such places are heaven. However my favourite was the 'por kilo' restaurants. Walking past you can see a row of hot plates and possibly 'por kilo' (or por quilo) on a sign somewhere. Walk in, grab a plate and eating irons, and only take what you like in quantities you like. Usually there is a big selection of meats and for sure vegetables. As you have already guessed, you pay by weight. (PS: Plates are non edible)

RECIFE: Eateries (and drinkeries) are potential pick up spots in this town as in most of Brazil. Once such place in Recife was a good place to meet non professional young ladies. It's name was "Long Shin", Rua Da Uniao 81, Boa Vista (Recife Central) I went there every day and met some interesting people there. I met a nice one there (Long Shin) with her sisters , took her back to my Hotel where she offered sex but only at the price of marriage. Anything to get out of poverty stricken Brazil, I suppose. Marry Thomas ! ? she'd have to be desperate/mad : ) If I was a cad, I would have said ok, banged her and do a 'runner' , but being the honourable gentleman that I, and hopefully all other whorists are , I told her I would have to think about it. Thought she would relent in time , but she didn't. Could have been a virgin ?

Hard to imagine virgins in Brazil. Reminds me of a story, Cebu City , Philippines. You can always have fun with Filipino taxi drivers, so I thought I'd have fun with the old timer who was driving my taxi one day. Looking back in his rear vision mirror at me he started with the comment: "See any pretty girls ? ". I replied, " on every street corner". He liked that.

Then I posed a question to him : "Any virgins ?". Some whorists ask taxi drivers for girls (myself included on my very first trip, but not any more) . I was jokingly upping the ante with an enquiry for 'virgins'. I think he knew I was joking, cause of the smile on my face etc and his reply was a cracker (Filipino's are never short of a word) : "Only in the Hospital, Filipino's are very physical people". Meaning the only virgins in the Philippines are the babies being born in the Hospitals that day. Filipino's have a sense of humour.

So, back to Recife and the wannabe virgin. Always leave yourself open to overtures, you never know who you could meet that way . (Some great, good and some not so good, or downright bad : ) Most of these Restaurants only sell por kilo at lunch time. At night, "Long Shin" becomes a rowdy joint, live band and below average moles hanging around (no virgins : ) . Not recommended at night, the area is unsavoury and potentially dangerous and the 'talent' to be found there would be something you could afford to miss.

Rodeio Restaurant, on the Boa Viagem beach promenade, Eclipse Disco end (South) had an all you can eat buffet and the occasional pick up chick for desserts.

RIO DE JANIERO:strange but true, I never bumped into smorgasbord/buffet or por kilo restaurants on the one occasion that I was there. Must have been blind. It wasn't until I went North to Recife and beyond that I ran into these places. However, I did find a smorgasbord vegetarian place in Rio which was good - "Natureze", Rio Avenida Almirante Barroso, 3rd Floor (no street number in notes, sorry). Travelled by bus everyday to a Restaurant ("Restaurante Rei Los Lanches") opposite 'Clube Gurilandia' (Botafago ?) to eat pizza. Ate here there and everywhere but apart from that Pizza place didn't find anything special. Restaurants everywhere, if they have got customers, walk in and try them. If they are empty, avoid them. Most are potential pick up places. One such open air restaurant/pick up joint at the bottom of the Hotel Opera Street was the scene of a shootout with the cops whilst we were drinking there. Cop cars parked opposite with guns at the ready, we paid our bill and moved across to the side of the street where the cops were and kept moving. Didnt hear any shots, but didnt want to hang around either. Brazil in some ways is like the 'wild west', cowboy country.

If staying at Copacabana try the Churascaria's . All you can eat for U$15 (2001). Must have walked around blind. In my time didn't find any Churascarias. Fellow whorists have reported that they do exist.

NATAL: Lunch times I ate exclusively at that por kilo restaurant, mentioned above under Accommodation. Other times at Alibi Bar (see Nightlife Notes) and after Alibi, anywhere and everywhere. Nothing special as regards food. As usual, possibility of a pick up at the eateries.

JOAO PESSOA: I ate at an upmarket seafood restaurant. Cant remember its name. Forget J. Pessoa , dont stop.

FORTALEZA: The only place I remember was a Chinese Restaurant way past Othon Hotel, on the Promenade. At the very end of the promenade if I remember correctly. Not an impressive looking place but the food was good. (English/Portuguese Menu too). Seafood Restaurants near Othon Hotel on the main promenade and part of the 'action strip' are worth a try, but not cheap. Don't forget this is a tourist rip off town. I was surprised with the number of decent looking Restaurants with no English/Portuguese menu and no English speaking waiters. Reason : Latin tourists mostly, not so many 'western whorists'. No potential for pick up at the small number of Restaurants I visited. All the pick up is outside the Restaurants. (Girls cant afford to eat at tourist restaurants along the strip. )

BELEM - A nice por kilo restaurant by the name of "Mistura Paulista" in Avenida Serzedelo Correla, near the intersection with Ave Nazare and Ave Pres. Vargas. Possibility of meeting chicks there too (same as most other eating/drinking places in Brazil). In Thailand you go to a place to eat, in Brazil you go to eat and check out the possibility of a liaison with a lady.

MANAUS - Quite good for food. "Patty's" por kilo Restaurant in Avenida Eduardo Robeiro (the main drag, and a mini drag at that) was a regular for me. Lunch time and evenings if I remember right. Mandarin Restaurant opposite Patty's was a reasonable standby. An english speaking student working there as a waiter gave me some 'nightlife' tips. (Ask and ye shall receive). "Bufolete", Churascaria at Avenida Joaquim Nabuco 628, Centro was ok if you got there at starting time, 12 noon. All these places were walking distance from my accommodation, including 'pick up park' - Praca da Matriz.

SALVADOR - Two spots I ate at regularly : 1. The Restaurant at the back of Hotel Pelourinho, Rua Alfredo de Brito 20. You pass through the hotels courtyard to get to it. Worth a visit. 2. "Senac", a smorgasbord/buffet place in Largo do Pelourinho (just down from Hotel Pelourinho). Neither of these two were potential pick up places. There are heaps of other places to try.

4. CULTURE:

This can influence your behaviour in Thailand but not a real factor in that big 'melting pot' called Brazil.
Brazil is a mixture of many cultures. So its hard to offend . They are certainly not thin skinned like the Thais.

A brazilian engineer, and whoremonger extraordinaire, staying at my hotel in Recife got upset when he found out I was breaking with tradition and giving the ladies money for sexual favours. That's about the only culture clash I experienced : )

In Portuguese, and with a concerned look, he would say - "No pay, no pay" , everytime he saw me, just to remind me not to spoil it for him. He explained that Brazilian guys who meet ladies over drinks do not pay. He said U$5 (equivalent) was nice and gentlemanly to give to them for the taxi home, but paying for sex was not the Brazilian way. He gave me the impression that only tourists pay for sex, and that can't be right. Even so , I'm sure he wasn't paying ( he was a mean s.o.b. ) ,and yet I saw them come back for more, tubby as they were. He must have had a big willy or something, he certainly was not good looking. "Treat them like trash", he said to me once. "Do not respect them and they will love you". I'm sure he treated them like trash, and yet I know they returned for more and he was fairly popular at the cantina, where he was stingy with drinks.

He had something, and it was most probably hidden under his trousers : ) All that aside, I know the brazilian chicks like a good poke and can give as good as they get , but I still give them money, and I know its appreciated.

Confuscius says: "Big money, small prick, always does the trick" . (Copyright Pending).

5. MISCELLANEOUS:

Clothes - Do not plan on buying any in Brazil . Too expensive. Your heading for the tropics so tee shirts, short sleeved shirts, shorts, light trousers, casual shoes, sunglasses, umbrella/light rain coat would be the basics. Can rain like hell (get detailed info from a brazil consulate/embassy in your home country re climate/weather) and be hot or humid as hell in the same day. Take collapsible umbrella that fits into your day bag if your visiting during the rainy season. Sunglasses are not normally worn by brazilians, so your telling the street thieves your a tourist when you wear them. If they ever try and steal your sunglasses stop them, and explain that your not a tourist, your a whorist : ) !

But the glare of the sun makes it mandatory for me to use sunglasses. Watches, do not wear, they'll sneak up behind you and try and rip it off your wrist. Happened to me ( in Recife ) with my favourite U$480 watch. Genuine leather band didn't snap, so they didnt get my watch. Have it in your day bag slung in front of you, buy a $10 cheapy in your home country, or have none at all. Brazilians don't care about the time, so why should you : )

Sox - brazilians don't wear them , only tourists, still I wear them. Met a german whorist, Karl, who was a pro'. No sunglasses, no watch, no sox , wearing only sandshoes , shorts and tee shirt ( no underwear :) There are so many skin colours in Brazil they took him for a Brazilian. He had thirty years of going to and fro from Germany to Brazil. He's the same one who warned me not to go to Rio any more, "off limits", as far as he is concerned, and he is a seasoned pro ! so what about us, should we heed his warning ? ( I did on that trip, headed North from Recife instead of South to Rio).

Camera - pulling one out in public says 'Tourist' and thus a target for street thieves. Take a cheapy, snap, straight back in the day bag (hanging in front of you, never at the back). One that is suitable for flash shots in your room. Don't forget - we want to see your 'trophy girlfriends' on this website. Film - In Brazil not cheap , bring as much as you can with you. Developing ,also not cheap by western standards. Just send the film to me , I'll develop it. No 'dogs', please : )

If you've got a digital camera or if its not convenient to give a copy to the damsel as requested, send a copy to her from your home country, but only if she posed nude : ) Such good deeds will make it easier for whorists who follow in your footsteps to procure shots.

It will come to pass, that one way you'll be able to flash an 'accredited whorist' card at the chicks and get huge discounts (some free) and nude photo's at will. It's all in the pipeline. Patience lads, patience.

Internet Access - feasible. The 'jungle bunnies' of Brazil have also heard about the Internet . Problem is , they use the Portuguese language :)

Electricity - This will keep you on your toes. Something like the Philippines, anything goes. It can be 110/120V, 220V or something else or even 'zilch' (blackouts). Part of the fun , travelling in third world countries. If someone tells you Brazil is not a third world country, then they have not been there. Its not even a third world country, its another Planet ! and all the more reason to visit it. Nothing like it on Planet Earth , that's for sure. I call it "Bizarre Brazil" and "Planet Brazil". Intriguing place.

Street Maps - Get one, essential. Try Newsagents or Bookshops. Sometimes tourist offices have them, some times not, and anyway its quite often hard to locate Tourist Offices . Try the tourist office at the airport on arrival, for starters. Another reason for taking Lonely Planet book with you - good maps. When you find a good whoring spot, mark it on your map and when you get back tell us all about it. Thanks

CONCLUSION:

I Don't claim to know as much as others about Brazil. Can only report it as I saw it through my eyes in 1995. Thats why we want people like you to send your Field Report in ("moderator@whorist.com") after visiting the country , so that others may benefit from your experience/s.

You have benefited from my experiences in Brazil , when you return from your trip you will have an opportunity to help others benefit from yours ...........In anticipation of your future contribution/submission I say....................... ................................Thanks

Thomas

PS: It is in excess of 12 months since the above information was originally uploaded onto the Internet and during that time not one person has come forward with fresh information to help others enjoy their stay in Brazil. UPDATE : See 2007 report below , and , 'Teen Whores' August 2004 Report , below.

Yet plenty emailed in with questions which we spent some time in answering on the understanding that those same persons would submit a report in due course. Not one report was ever received.

Consequently we have decided to stop covering Brazil , but will leave the above info for a time yet , before deleting it all together , as it is still of some use to folks who have little or no idea about Brazil.

From this point on , questions re Brazil will not be answered , as it is a long time since we have personally been to Brazil and barring a Lottery win , it is unlikely that finances will permit a revisit any time soon in the future , to pick up fresh info.

Thomas .................. 27th May 2003.

PS : Early 2004 I am dreaming about returning to Brazil late 2005.

Will the dream come true ?

UPDATE : 2007

February 2007 I spent 23 days in Recife and Salvador. Check out my findings (and pics) .... Click here..

AUGUST 2004

'Teen Whores' are trying valiantly to rescue this section of our website.

Here is their report , August 2004 :

The teenage whorists are back with a new review on Brazil.

I wrote you one year ago and told you of my experiences in Brazil. Well I just returned from my second trip and things have changed a little bit, but not too much. We started out in Recife and the tourism has slown down, but there were still a decent amount of girls. Bamboo and Sampa was where you could find the most girls. Bamboo would cost between 30 and 50 real a night while Sampa was around 100 real. There was a lot more street action, but I never ventured that way. I had a couple nice girls in Recife and some didnt even want money, but that is rare.

After two weeks in Recife we took two cars up to Natal for 3 days and had a blast. We went to Mambo club the first night and I met a beautiful Brazilian girl. I took her back to my place for around 80 real and we had a good night. The second night we went to club fantasia. We thought it was a regular strip club, but it turned out to be a live sex show. There were about 70 women working in there and 80% were complete knockouts. We were the only Americans in the club so naturally we were attacked by everyone of them. As we were sitting at the bar a girl approached my friend and unzipped his jeans and gave him a hand job right there. Later on we were watching the sex show and the guy and girl came over to me at the bar and the guy fucked the girl while she was on my lap. The place was crazy and the girls were beautiful. I didnt take any girls home that night because my cash flow was low, but they wanted around 100 real.

Our last 3 days in Brazil were spent in Rio. I went to club Help everynight and the place was full of girls. Most of them were good looking, but wanted a lot of money. They would ask for 250 real, but by the end of the night they would take 100 real. If you cant get any girls at Help you can find the stragglers at a bar called Balcony which is about a mile down the beach from Help.

We had a hell of a time this year and cant wait to return next year.

Hope this info helps out.
