Just returned from 4 glorious days in Manila. I have been reading about the LA cafe and was wondering if it had changed much in the past 2 years since I was last there. I normally go to Pattaya these days , but as work had landed me in Manila thought i had better venture and see for myself. Arrived on my first night, a saturday night about 10.00 pm. Down stairs was full but only 4-5's at best. After a couple of beers went upstairs to check the real action. Our Asian friends definitely had the better selection. While there was a few 7-8 around, most appeared to be after the asians. At one stage i counted 10 ladies visiting the asian side to 3 the other side. While not dishearterened the ladies on offer were not up to what I would usually want. I did however go home with a lovely lady that was acceptable to what I required. Next morning said our goodbyes and went shopping. At about 1.30 pm decided to head to the LA cafe to catch up with some friends , watch the cricket and have lunch. While the action was slow to start with, by 4 pm there were some very nice 7-8 wondering around the area. Met a couple of uni students that would only go short time as wanted to be up in the morning for school. Decided after the previous evening wanted something a little longer and was able to get a very nice lady (8 at least) and had a great night. She did not drink but we made up for it over the next hours. Left at about 8.00 pm worse for wear and went back to the hotel and was looked after like a king. Decided as I had work the next couple of days would place her on the payroll instead of going out each night looking. That was possibly one of the best ideas. She asked if I would like to meet her friend which I agreed and ended up with a threesome for two days. What a great time. Would highly recommend the LA cafe if there for a short time. Found the sunday afternoon shift excellent quality and speaking english as a highlight when you do have more than one. Stayed at the Paco Park Oasis for a couple of nights which is fair but has great food. A little on the expensive side for food but the rooms are cheaper. Also stayed at Pan Pacific for a couple of nights and had great joy in taking both my lovelies up to breakfast in the morning to the disgust of the Japanese women and envy of every male....Was very disappionted to have to leave them on wednesday back to the land of the unexpected. Having lived and worked in S.E. Asia for many years, I am well acquainted with the countires of the region. The Philippines is undoubtably the dirtiest and the most shombolic, but the ladies always smile and are delightful. I feel that I should put some input, having taken so much of your time, so here goes: for those who choose to stay in Ermita, I recommend The Cherry Blossom Hotel, alongside and behind Robinsons Mall; room prices from pesos 1,500 incl breakfast. Very clean, aircon works and water is hot. I don't care for L.A. Cafe; too many Koreans, and the girls are not so great. Try Slouch Hat Aussi Pub; the girls are friendly and the prices reasonable. It is located on M .H del Pillar, on other side of the church, towards U.N Ave. In Angeles I recommend my old friend, Jim Dale at Hotel La Case Pension, 511 Tamarind Street, Clarkview. Tel. 0928778-1473 E mail jimmy.harry the horse@gmail.com Good rooms, very clean and reasonable prices Jim is a crazy New Yorker, and a great guy. Also Roy's Pub, down in the centre of Balibago. He sometimes has rooms available. Just ask for Clive. Sadly, I have yet to find really good affordable accomodation in Cebu. I love the laid back atmosphere, but the prices are unreasonably high.

You may also want to try Good Life Reflex zone on your next visit. It is run by the same people that manage Don Pedro. Problem is it is not in your usual haunts hehhe. Entrance to the massage is 1200 after 6pm but they have a promo if you go earlier, you pay only 800 bucks, Extraservice is 1200 for 1.5 hrs. If you're lucky you may get to take a girl home with you :) Girls alos freelance on their day offs, we got a chance to organize an orgy with 4 girls for 2000 bucks per girl. 67. November 2008 .........................KEN Another place for Hookers is in the area I call Quaipo. Take the LRT going north and get off one station after CENTRAL. Walk north (same direction you were going on the LRT) There is a movie theatre, and some fast food chains (ie ChowKing) in the area. Hookers start appearing about 11:30am or earlier! Some are a 8 to 9. There are some hooker friendly short time hotels in the area, so no problem where to do the deed. Prices were about P 500, but make sure before you head-off with her. After you can enjoy shopping! Good place for cheap electronics, tools, and Ongpin (for chinese food) is not far away. Some will voice safety concerns, but I NEVER had a problem. For a cheap massage or grotty fuck, try Cubao Sauna, near Aurora and EDSA. Get off at Farmers Market, and cross over to the west side (left side if you are going north), walk around to where the buses stop, and loop around - you will see the tricycles on your right. Go up the hill, and after the crest, on your left is the sauan. Prices were P 250. Tell the cashier what you want. Have a shower, and wait for the girl. After the massage you can bargain for whatever 'extra' service. It opens about 1pm. Girls are more realistic than most places, and many are quite attractive. BTW The magic phrase, when you pick up a girl (from the mall, or whatever) and you think the time is ripe, ask "would you like to go SOMEWHERE". They know what you mean! Manila I spent one week in the capital and stayed in the well known and tourist populated Malate area. There are many previous field reports for this area and my observations were somewhat similar. However, i set an upper limit of 1000 pesos for a girl and still managed to find some beauties. The girlie bar/ karaoke scene is , as commented by some previous reporters , a complete waste of time....and money....unless you want to pay 3500 - 5000 pesos plus. For a guaranteed supply of ladies the LA Cafe still seems to be the venue of choice. However, you'll need to look hard to find any ladies in the +7 category. I found that approx three quarters of the LA Cafe ladies are regulars and for the main part were very pushy and well used !. But, in amongst the regulars, and, in particular, on a weekend i met up with some cuties who were lookin for a bit of extra cash to support a child etc, and i met two attractive slim ladies on seperate evenings for 1000 pesos for the whole night.....their opening offer was typically 1500- 2000. I found that the Mall scene in Malate, Robinsons etc was a non starter, but on the street i did come across one or two cute freelancers.....as well as several dozen horrors !. Problem with the street girls is that there's always a pushy pimp in the background. One evening i negotiated 2 ladies for the same evening with a pimp for a mere 1500 pesos......but the next morning the pimp was waiting at the hotel reception ..aggressively seeking his 1000 peso cut from the ladies 1500 peso total payment. The ladies did, however, give me their cellphone numbers and i arranged to meet one of them again for 700 pesos non pimp offer....and she was delighted. MANILA Manila: Stayed at Executive Plaza Hotel for 4 nights. Nice , clean at 1050 pesos. Close to action and LA cafe... 2 minutes walk. Have to say that the quality at La Cafe is dodgy most nights. Most Girls demand 1500 Peso LT after 2 pm. Was very crowded every night with lots of punters. No problem with Cops or otherwise. Robinson Mall is closeby to the hotel and is excellent perving opportunity. Mongers can use Sir. THommos trick of using post it to hand over phone numbers. Scored with a waitress of TGIF. So i want to say thanks allot for the information that is here it helped me allot. Well on to my field report. I went to Manila and ended up in the best western. It is walking distance to the burgos strip. And i only had to pay pesos 3,000 a night. Not sure if i got rip off or not but for me it was great. My first night there i asked a taxi driver for a place i could hook up with a prostitute. He took me to a place called the dormitory. There it is basically just a square with couches all around and couches in the middle. The girls are all dressed up looking great and they Sit on the couch. You walk in look around and pick one of the girls you then pay to take them home. I think i got robbed my first night. Spent pesos 5,000 for a girl. But it was my first night. Picked her and took her to my pace, had a great time with her. The next day i went exploring and found burgos st. Then spent the rest of my week there. I would visit 2 bars a night and pick the hottest girl from one of the bars. Don't think i got to all the bars, but who cares had a great time. Most of the bars charged pesos 3,500 a night. Not sure if i was being ripped off or not. But still had a great time. My second to last night i went to stardust. Apparently no one goes there. So if interested you can find girls there. 62. December 2007 .....................Ermita and Sabang ............................ DAVEY-J Hi Tommo Not much of an update, but ... There seems to be a lot more action than LA Cafe in Ermita now. I was too buggared from flying to do more than stroll the streets - getting too old too fast - but I sense that there has been a revival both in Mabini and del Pilar. We need to send an agent to check this out. No shortage of aggressive FL in Robinsons Plaza. In about an hour of chasing around to buy something/anything for my boy just before leaving I was approached twice, and both would have been quite acceptable. Prices not discussed. Situation in Sabang has gone downhill somewhat. Accommodation is pricy, concrete growing and food prices up 60% in 3 years. SIKAT (leaves from City State Tower Hotel, Manini St) and Swagman (leaves from Swagman and/or Southern Cross Hotels) tickets are ~ p600 one way. Diving is excellent but beaches an increasing disaster. The bars are Sabang, Sunset (or Sunrise), Philippine Village, Broadway and Pink Panther (or Pussycat). Centrum disco is being turned into another bar and will be online by now. In all you have a wide choice of fat girls or flat girls, with one or two of 7s (at best) in each bar, and one of these told me that she would only bed Koreans. Best bar probably is Pink Pussycat, Euro owned and run, where the girls seem to have fun. When a gang of Russians (including 2 girls came in) the fun and noise level went up 100%. Then one of the Russian ladies got on the stage to show how it was done and both went up another 100%. Prices are standard: 1000 P B/F, 1000P long time. (Russian girls not on the menu!). There is another little Videoke bar left on the road back to Puerto Galera which might be worth investigating too. FL action around Eddie's Place and The Pub. Asking prices for "massage" starting from P300. Proper massages available from 3 sets of girls, starting from abt P300 for the hour but usually P500. I exited the building and was quite a ways away when the 30ish hooker and a LA Cafe guard insisted I come back to discuss my not paying for a drink.
It was obvious this is a scam they have perfected, the bar maid insisted I
told her that I was paying for the drink. The 30ish hooker agreed with her
and a guard she they were going to call the police. I reluctantly paid for the rather ancient hooker's drink.
The day before I scored a cutie at LA Cafe, mid 20s, big boobs, who had been there (on a Sunday) from 10am until she left with me at 8:45PM. So

Hi Guys, Just got back home in Australia last week from my second holiday in Manila and am pleased to report that I am totally exhausted! I travelled alone like last year and stayed again in Ermita at the Hyatt Casino, not cheap I know but worth every penny! 5 star all the way! Just for a little background, let me tell you that I am an average looking guy, 55 years old, divorced and on my annual holiday just looking for some casual encounters with as many pretty filipinas as I can find! And I sure wasn't disappointed. This year I hit the ground running as I knew my way around and wasn't put off by the chaos in the streets that is part of an average day in Manila but sure intimidated me last year! So I made for the LA cafe as soon as I had unpacked and walked straight through the ground floor and headed upstairs. In my opinion the best way to go for a paltry 100 peso entry but without doubt the better looking girls are on the first floor and you just have to be patient and let the night develop and as the dancing starts and the place starts to rock about 11pm you can basically take your pick of plenty of way above average looking girls. I also had a bit of luck as one of the girls I had met and treated well last year and kept in touch with on yahoo through the year, saw me and introduced me to some of her friends. The good reference did me no harm and each night I followed pretty much the same procedure. All I did was make it clear to each of the girls that I preferred to have a different girl each night and that I wasn't looking for a steady girlfriend. Also I wasn't cheap and bought plenty of drinks for the girls and their friends. But hey! The beer is only 95 pesos and I was looking for a good party time! Spent most of each night drinking and dancing and playing pool with heaps of different ladies until about 3 in the morning and then I decided which one I liked most and I would whisper to her that I would like her to stay with me that night and she would let her friends know, without any major problems. On a couple of occasions I took 2 girls back with me with a good night had by all. I'm not ashamed to say that at age 55 I had some Viagra to help me and I can heartily endorse the product! Great stuff! On average I paid around 3000 pesos to the girl for staying all night, usually until early afternoon the next day, which I know is way over the going rate but like I said earlier I had a good reference from last years girl and treated the payment as an investment as she told all her friends that I was a good payer and not someone looking for the cheapest lay. And lets be serious. 3000 pesos comes to about $80 aust. Which I think is cheap for an all night stay! Also remember that on the first floor you are competing with the japanese and koreans who pay even more to the girls. If you want the cheap ones you can find them on the ground floor but a lot of them are not as fluent in English and are fresh in from the provinces. All the girls I ended up with I would rate as 8s or 9s, well groomed and dressed, with better than average English, good personalitys that made them fun to be with. With the first girl I took back, money was not discussed and I just gave her a wad of notes the next day and told her to go shopping, which she loved and I knew she would tell her friends what I had given her and from then on I basically had her friends lining up to be with me and money was never discussed. I know I could have haggled them down or just paid less to start with but I was there for a good hassle free time and could afford it - bottom line is I was happy, the girls were really happy - and a good time was had by all. Also I always used a condom although that was always at my insistence. I didn't want to knock up any of the girls and give them more problems than they already have and why take a health risk? In total in 10 days I had 6 different girls. I had one girl on three different nights and 2 of them on 2 different nights, plus there was an overlap as they paired up on 2 nights for me! Loved it! I also visited the G point and while it was fun there with the staff and playing pool etc I generally found the girls there a little older and not quite as attractive. In summary I would advise anyone looking for this sort of holiday to not be too cheap, treat the girls with respect but be straight with them as to what you expect from them. Get their cell nos, their yahoos etc, they love text messages etc and will keep in touch. I've also had a couple of filipina girlfriends here in australia and I know the games they play and how sharp they are. Be aware that they will try things on you and that most of the girls, the regulars anyway, know one another very well and talk about the customers and word will spread very quickly if you are cheap or don't treat them well. I plan to go back again as soon as I can, work and money permitting but I have had the holiday of a lifetime. I have no fantasys left! Hehehehe All of the girls are now texting and yahooing me and starting to play their games which is all part of it, but I can handle that no problems! I just spent the last several months working out of the southern regions of the Philippines having to fly in and out of the city of Manila on multiple occasions. I've been going to the country for many different reasons for the last 10 years or so, and one of the first places I needed to visit was my ole stomping grounds

High Heels: As I walked back in for the first time in almost 2 years, the memories came rushing back as did the girls as I entered the doorway. And a little tucked away place called Japlac (pronounced Jap-lak'). . From LA Cafe, 1 block north - 1 block east to Cowboy Grille (large live band place) then 1 block north and 1 block east again. Walked in at 4 in the morning, paid P1500 and girl told me later that anything over P1100 is a waste cuz the rest went to the dude I haggled with. Still, for the area, LA Cafe was too strong a temptation to stay away from. Any time of day, any day of the week. The better lookers were P1500 for first girl, P1000 each additional as standard but even that was still good to haggle over, especially here!. Got 2 stunners for 2 days at P2000. Another time got 3 young hotties for P500 each. There were less lookers than not, but patience and keeping an eye on the crowd reaped it's own rewards.

December 23, 2005, I flew into Manila. After a day of sleeping I went to EDSA's (1st time offender), FIREHOUSE. just got back from the philippine islands. my usual visit of 1 month. (april 4th to may 4th). not much new to report. anyone needing viagra or cialis? they're selling it on the streets of manila along with the fake watches and fake coins and fake sunglasses.yes, im sure the meds are fake also, but its everywhere. the starting quote is about 500 pesos a pop. since i didn't need or want any, i have no idea what the bottom line is. my annual inspection of la cafe in malate finds it to be alive and well. i was told by one young lady that the upstairs is now rented out boarding house style to the regular girls as a place to stay, but not to bring up any gentlemen guests. this may be old news but it was news to me. the going rate seems to be 1000 pesos, and they are asking for even more, so to all of those fools that over pay these women, thanks a lot for inflating the costs for the rest of us. la cafe is truly a 24 hour a day operation. i stopped in at 10 am on palm sunday, and though it was empty, there were a few girls there and the one i met turned out to be pretty good entertainment for a sunday afternoon. i went upstairs once, but the band was so loud that i quickly turned around and headed back stairs. the girls upstairs were more dressed up, but quality wise i found plenty of 7's or 8's on a scale of 10 downstairs. i will send some pics in a few days.
up the street about a block is a bar called amazonia. the advantage to amazonia is it has short term rooms to rent on the 3rd floor for less than 500 pesos. the waitresses are also doubling as dancing girls and the local talent in the bar is not bad. i always stop in at least once each year, and it's worth at least one visit either before or after la cafe. if i dont use the upstairs rooms at amazonia for a short term, i'd recommend the sogo hotel in malate for short term. they have air con. about 600 for 7 hours. taxi from la cafe is 40 pesos.
my favorite place in the philippines....boracay...is looking beter than ever. the mall area is now paved and the stores are more upscale. the litter and trash problem seems to be getting addressed finally by the local leaders and thank god for that. cant say the same thing for panglao island and the filthiest place in tourist land puerto galera.

AND the transportation virtually stops at about 6pm (dusk). so an adventurer wishing to stay at a nice beach and partake of a little nightlife at sabang is pretty much out of luck. i rented a motorcycle (700 pesos--24 hours) in galera, but the roads at night are dark and dangerous. there has been recent NPA activity ( people hurt by roadside bombs and then sprayed with machine guns) so the choice in galera is between sex sand and safety. i'd say 1 night in sabang--get a girl for the week--and then move to a beach with a.....with a beach. or bring one over from manila ( 2 and a half hours away). galera is by far the filthiest patch of sand in the philippines. disgraceful. dirtier than subic. nasty.
davao has some action. the city is so much safer than some reports give it credit for. friendly people, fairly clean modern big city. beautiful airport, rebuilt after a bombimg a few years ago. security all over the place. my experience there doesn't translate well to the next guty going there, but i will not hesitate to go back there again, this after years of being warned of safety issues there. a nice hotel i'd recommend is the waterfront insular. the quoted price is not the actual room price. ask for the promo rate. this is a 4 or 5 star hotel with very secure grounds and the best breakfast in the philippines. (there's no action at the hotel) the beach sucks but the pool is very nice. there's a dancing/model bar almost but not quite within walking distance with willing attractive girls.

| Thought i would share my recent experiences in Manila as an update on the nightlife scene there... go go bars went to both p burgos (makati) and edsa complex (pasay)...value for $$$ i would suggest edsa complex is perhaps better...selection of gals wld be about similar as well...at edsa complex i did a quick trawl of all the clubs (quite easy as they are all in one complex and apparently owned by an italian gent and his son) and found firehouse to have the best selection quantity wise...spacegirls is also worth checking out and perhaps bullets and arrows ...beers cost 110p; I was last in the Phils in November, 2005. I had been there about every 2 months for the previous 8-10 months. For those of you what are adventurous and on a budget you can get there fast and cheap by taking local transport. When you arrive at the Manila airport go upstairs and grab a taxi that is dropping off people. Tell him to take you to the Pasay bus terminal. Once there look for the buses to Angeles. The cost is around P200 or less and they leave every 15-20 minutes. They have a/c and are quite comfortable. Beats the hell out of hassling with a hire car or the Swagman's bus.
I have to say that my favorite is Angeles. More girls, more bars, more raunchy, lower prices. Last time I was in Angeles I stayed at the Hotel Hana and was quite satisfied, in more ways than one. The price was right, less than P1,000 per night; good service; decent restaurant with a good breakfast selection; nice pool area. While there I arranged a pool party and they were quite accommodating and helpful. No hassle at all. The rooms are spartan, but serviceable. Usual florescent lighting, but that is unavoidable. Bring your own shampoo, wash cloth, toothbrush/paste, etc. There are NO amenities.
I had stayed in Kokomo's previously but it was P1800 and noisy if you wanted to sleep. Their pool is small and the service non-existent. The only advantage to Kokomo's was the on-line computer in the room.
As for clubs, I tend toward the clubs away from the hustle and bustle of Field's Ave. and head towards Perimeter Road. On a side road there are a couple of bars, both named Rio's. One used to be Nifty's but has been renamed. This one is the smaller of the two, a bit grungy inside but what it lacks in ambiance it makes up for in raunchy. The girls are friendly, cameras are welcome and not too much hustle for drinks. One LD will take you a long way. On previous visits I've observed patrons getting blow jobs in the small alcove near the front door. The girls aren't spectacular, but there are a few hotties.
The other, larger Rio's is a bit of a contradiction. No photos allowed, but you can get a sample blow job for P300 and a full bj in the VIP room for P700. There are more girls here and they start asking you to take them out as soon as you walk in, but it's not a bad place to while away an hour or so.
A little further up is a place called Bubbles. I found a couple of real lookers here. One fell in love with me and claimed me for her own. She was a month shy of her 19th birthday and very hot. MANILA : In Manila I usually stay on or near P. Burgos. Last time I stayed at Oxford Suites. It was pretty good, but pricey at P2000 per night. On previous visits I've stayed at the Makati Palace. Not bad. I paid P1800 including breakfast. They have this rule that you have to go to the front desk to get your meal coupon each day. The breakfast is the usual buffet. Last time it was impossible to get bacon, but easy to get those small, sweet pork sausages. Yuck! The best place I've stayed is the City Garden Hotel, but it is usually booked. If you go to Makati Prime Tower be advised that the standard rooms suck. They're cramped, dark and dingy. Opt for the suites. Larger and more comfortable.
There is a bar across from the Oxford Suites, Dimples. They have an afternoon happy hour and on more than one occasion I have gotten a hand job there. I usually shower just before I go, wear loose fitting trousers and go 'commando', i.e., no underwear. Within 2 minutes I have 4 girls with their hands on my dick just having a good time. They'll push you to go to the VIP room, but it isn't necessary. Choose the 1 or 2 you like and they'll take care of you on the spot.
I've never BF'd any girl in Burgos. I've been pretty lucky with the girls on the street or by going to the LA Cafe. I made a return trip to Sabang with a few days on either end in Ermita in March. Plenty of action everywhere and the weather was great. Started out from the east coast of USA and arrived Saturday night around midnight. Taxi to Pearl Manila hotel in Ermita via Nissan taxi service. Cost is 700p (around $14) but no headaches. Could definitely go cheaper but didn't want any hassles. Staff at Pearl is nice and no problems with guests but found the hotel hard to locate when I was out and not the most convenient to local mongering sites. Breakfast included. Overall I think there are better values but the place was clean and the girls seemed to think it was OK. Met my companions after midnight and immediately was told a girlfriend I had in Sabang was with a long time customer so I couldn't hook up with her. A little disappointed but that didn't last too long. Taxi to LA Cafe and the place was cooking. I didn't observe the Korean phenomenon you have reported on when I was up there and actually enjoyed the downstairs better - lots of trolling girls. We actually had to ask our waitress to make some of the girls leave our table. Hooked up with an experienced girl whose specialty was 'smoking' long time - and that she did. Returning to Manila is simple via Si Kat ferry service. 600p will deliver you directly to City State Tower hotel in Ermita which is where I stayed. Room was about $40 and was OK. City State is very conveniently located to LA Cafe and the other Ermita hangouts and everyone knows where it is. Even has a small casino attached. I brought my girl with me up there because she has family in Caloocan and she stayed with me until I left early for my return flight. Easier too to have someone who is native in the jungle. Once again a great trip which I wish could have lasted longer. Not sure when I can return but is definitely on my list.

Hi Guys, Just returned from 10 days in Manila, my first trip there and many thanks for your site and the tips that I read before I went there. I stayed in the Hyatt Casino, cos I figured that not having been to Phil before, if I got bored there was always the casino, but as it turned out I never got bored and the casino was pretty ordinary anyway. But I have to say that I had a great trip - the people everywhere were extra friendly and there was no shortage of great looking girls, easy to talk to and pick up and the costs varied but there were never any problems.
The good news was that the Hyatt is only two blocks from the LA cafe and once I headed there I knew that was the place to go if I wasn't happy with the action elsewhere. The atmosphere at the LA cafe is pretty easy going and I hung out there most nights, just taking my time and talking, drinking, playing pool with lots of different ladies until I found the one I liked most. The girls were always freelancers and I just made it clear at the start what I wanted, how long I wanted them for, and most of the time just agreed on their price - and usually gave them a tip as well. Most of the time I had a couple of drinks with the girls there. then took them back to my room - no problem at the Hyatt with visitors - and sometimes then took them out for a meal afterwards. On average I paid them about 2000 pesos - about $50A.
On New Years Eve I approached a girl outside the LA cafe - a very pretty 23yo office worker - who went with me to the celebrations on Roxas Boulevard, then stayed with me all night and in the morning we went out for breakfast, strolled around the city together taking in the sights around Intramuros before I let her go in the early afternoon. I paid her 4000 pesos and she was rapt! I could easily have stayed with her for the whole trip but I was after variety and I got it! We've kept in touch since by email and sms and I plan to go back next year for more! Other places included Robinsons and Harrison malls but I had a lot of trouble there with ladyboys - they are incredibly hard to pick and it was only that I was warned by a waitress on the first occasion that I met one that I avoided a very nasty surprise!!
At Glorietta mall I had mixed success, one day meeting a gorgeous girl who spent the night with me - she didn't even ask for money but I felt guilty and offered her a "gift" of 2000 pesos before she left - and of course she was more than happy to accept. Have kept in touch with her too! Other days at Glorietta were fruitless so I headed back to LA cafe - I think Glorietta is for later in the day, after work - I'll remember that next time.
Places that I won't go back to are the Framie bar in Ermita and Aphrodites, also in Ermita - both charge the world for drinks, the girls are all over you but they are mainly from the provinces, their english is not good and they were unwilling to leave early, but wanted you to stay until closing. At both places I felt pressured so I made my excuses and left and headed back to LA cafe where I didn't get messed around with.
A great western style cafe is Cafe Andriatico where you can get a good meal for a very reasonable price, sit outside and watch everyone go past, but once again watch out for the ladyboys - they are very upfront and aggressive in their approach and as night falls, very hard to pick. I am an ordinary looking guy, 54, divorced, so Manila was just what I needed - no strings attached, just friendly, very pretty girls who knew what the score was and made no demands. I made sure I wore a condom but it was never an issue with the girls and I didnt catch anything. Manila in general is a very noisy place, very crowded and the poverty is an eye opener for a Westerner. I caught taxis most of the time - I just asked the driver upfront how much it was going to cost and haggled on a price but there was never a problem. When I got used to everything there after a couple of days, I started catching the jeepneys - very cheap! I never felt it was unsafe - I'm average build and about 5' 10" - never felt like there would be trouble. The shopping is great - the malls have all the designer shops and everything is much cheaper than in Australia. There are market stalls there too with all the fake watches, dvds etc - I bought heaps! The big market place at Baclaran is worth going to and it is huge! The golf courses are worth checking out too and of course Makati - the modern business centre of Manila is worth spending time in. But I went for the girls and as long as I have the money at the end of the year I plan to go back for more! Enjoy! Pete

Ayala Center in Makati is a bit of a wasteland, but all is not lost - as per our friend Lmarines. If you are staying at the Intercon, Oakwood or Shangri-La there is plenty of action if you cant be arsed to go out to P. Burgos or EDSA.
Start at Gloria Jeans (Glorietta 3, facing the Shangri-La); From around 8pm and there are a good gaggle of freelancers giving the eye. Best bet though is upstairs in the bar at Hard Rock Cafe (PHP 300 entry - gets you one beer - free if you are eating); I have been here a number of times and there is always a good selection (7-8-9 out of 10) sitting at the bar. No BF of course. More expensive than the club girls perhaps, but same as everywhere - you get what you pay for. I can reccomend 'Anna' from Cebu (PHP 4000 short time) if only for the enthusiasm...
TGI Fridays gets a few latecomers and there are a few FLs walking around near Starbucks after 11 but you'll be better off in the Hard Rock if you are a lazy g*t like me

I had heard the same joke in Taipei and Bangkok on numerous occasions: "Why did
God create orgasms? To tell Filipina girls it's time to stop fucking. And from
the nine days I spent there in August 2005, I would say it is true. As an old
friend, an ex-Air Force Colonel who ran a bar in Bangkok during Vietnam used to
say, "It's not just that it's so cheap, but that it's so good."
Stayed at the Sunette Tower in Makati, just off Burgos Street, stumbling
distance to all the bars. A nice, clean, unspectacular place, no restaurant, but
a good Chinese place right across the street and plenty of others nearby, nice
liberal policy about girls coming to your room and then they check with you
before letting girls come up or leave. Laundry and internet cafe right across
the street, money changers and 7-11 right around the corner, 1,600 pesos a
night.
As far as bars go, The Mogambo is best for drinking in the afternoon, girls
woill bother you for drinks and to play bar games, but are not too aggressive
and easy to brush off, some are good looking, bar fine around 1,500 to 2,00
pesos, one show in the afternoon and another one at night, good sports bar with
plenty of girls upstairs, but forget the name. Checked out a couple of other
places before deciding that what I had been told was true, the Flamingo, right
at the top of Burgos Street, was the best bar, with the best girls (7's-10"s
ranging in age from about 18 to maybe 21 or 22) It is run by an American who
also runs the Mogambo and a couple of other places and is generally acknowledged
by both hte expats and the bar girls as a good guy. The bar fine is 1,900 pesos
including drinks and 3,000 pesos for the girl - expensive by Phillipines, (but
not Makati) standards and in my experience, well worth it. If Rona is there, she
is the best if you treat her right
If you're going to be in Makati for more than five days, ask the Mama san aat
the Flamingo about the "Permanent Shomp" or barfine. For 10,000 pesos,
everything including drinks and barfines is free.
One girl warned me that at night the Matrix attracts a lot of Lady Boys, so if
you for late night free lancers beware.
Sid's, a few blocks away is where the expats go to drink with their wives and
girlfriends, a British sports pub, with a relaxed atmosphere and inexpensive
drinks, but no bar girls.
Also went to Sabang Beach, Puerto Galera, Oiental Mindoro, about three hours by
taxi or bus to Batangas and then an hour and a half by Boat. Batangas is a scary
place, with swarms of seedy, poverty-stricken people hanging around the docks
and cheap food stands before you get to the boat terminal ($350 pesos, plus a 10
peso daparture fee) Hang onm touyr wallet, etc.
Sabang is a world famous diving area, but not much of a swimming beach. I was
there for two days and as a non-diver I probably would have been bored after
four or five days, but I do intend to go back and take a diving course. Not much
else to do during the day except wlak around the small town, shop, relax or take
the jeepney over the mountain to White Beach (60 Pesos) for a nice day trip.
White Beach is more scenic but quieter, more the place to go if you have a girl
with you and just want a romantic spot to relax and hang out.
Sabang, oin the other hand, has a nice lively nightlife, with several go go
bars, (bar fine 1,000 pesos in th August, the off-season and 1,00 for the girl)
a legitimate disco and a couple of nice, relaxed drinking bars, including Mike's
run by a Kiwi from Australia, the Big Apple and Eddie's place right on the
beach, which is also a restaurant and is open 24 hours a day. I had been told
that sabang was just a quiet, relaxing place and had brought my own girl down
from the Flamingo in Makati, but found this was not necessary as there was a
fine selection of girls in Sabang at less than half the price.
Two different girls told me that Subic Bay was a nice spot and offered goo go
bars and cheap jet ski rentals, so I intend to check that out on my next visit.
After 20 years of travelling to Asia, I have been lucky enough to like each new
place I visit - Hong Kong, Taipei, Bangkok, Cambodia - even more than the
places I've visited before - with the the exception of Korea and Singapore - and
I'm happy to say that for me, the Phillipines was the best of all and I'm
definitely going back. Next time though, I probably won't spend more than two or
three days in Manila and will try to see Edsa as well as Makati.
