27. September 2008 ................Bangkok observations - NEP - Soi Cowboy ........................SERIOUS

Bangkok in General :

Bangkok as usual was a culture shock, arriving from the West. You don't notice the air pollution but you really need to notice the pavements, and you need to notice them all the time. After I'd been there one day I had a couple of crocked big toes. Kerbs vary hugely in height, anywhere from zero to a couple of feet, and they can vary that hugely right next to each other. Your left foot might find a surface at one height, your right foot...waaagh, thud, damn. Easy done. Nothing is coned-off to warn you of holes. And there are many other differences in level from tilted or missing slabs or tarmac or thin stuff crushed by lorries or pipework running along just above footpath level but only by an inch or two above, and maybe a four-inch pipe, painted black...... It's childsplay to stub a big toe, regularly. I quickly learnt not to look up at architecture or girls and walk at the same time. Well, not quickly enough.... Waagh thud damn twice.

Anyway, the place is thrilling, compared to the West. Everything is crowded; you're almost never not in contact with others as you walk, and the others can turn out to be real elephants, being led along totally ordinarily, their huge round feet making no noise at all... I brushed against one and was startled by the feet; I'd thought it was a black cloth over clothes on a rail, like in NY's garment district. Till I saw its toenails plodding by. Crossing roads is life-threatening. Traffic isn't orderly. It may not even be going in the 'right' direction. I soon learnt it's less stressful to walk an extra couple of blocks to find a footbridge over Sukhumvit. You live longer and the air's better 30' up.

Day or night there are girls about, trying to get laid. If they think you're at all likely to pay them, they may call out.... 'Do you want me....?' But there's no problem; they're not insistent or rude the way western hookers often are. They keep it all low-key. No-one acts hostile. Gradually you feel your own tension levels actually reducing, drifting into line with Asian levels. Kids zoom by on mopeds; no crash helmets, no leathers, no boots. And there are often four or five of them on a moped. An accident would be horrific - all their bare skin skidding up the jagged road & footpath surfaces. Yet everyone clearly presumes there will be no accident. Thankfully I never saw any.

Smiles are the order of the day every day. Only the Katoeys may scowl or be pushy, but that's helpful because it marks them out; lets you know who's who.
At first, I resisted all temptations because I fretted over accidentally picking a Katoey; so not my scene. I actually walked straight past a few places named by Whorist without realising they were the ones he'd listed. They just don't look seedy. They look like posh cafes or bars, Paris-fashion. Tables out front, air-con inside. Everything very chic and clean and lots of big tellys hung from the ceilings screening football, olympics, news and fashion shows. Gullivers in particular is vast even by Paris standards and everything is nicely classy. It could be a class bar in Stockholm or Toronto and it takes a while to accept that most of the girls sat idly sipping small drinks or munching noodles are really awaiting your kind interest. As Whorist observed, they don't rush to get under you, so they're not that short of cash - but neither are they on drugs nor drunks. Quality has its price anywhere. Grand place for a drink.

Nana Plaza :

I had a real struggle to even find NANA PLAZA; it's like an appendix off a gut - it has a tiny entrance at 90 degrees to the main drag, and it's a dead end. In the end I found it accidentally and at 11am (yup, in the morning), when it was totally shut. There were far less than ten people in the whole place and they were only cleaning or repairing, and smoking. No-one was selling anything at all. No-one paid any attention to the wandering tourist as I explored the ghost town.
The shabbiness of it was startling. It's disintegrating. It's too compact, a warren of very narrow passageways with uneven and loose surfaces. Night and neon must hide a lot but it was a world away from Soi Cowboy, where investment has kept the fabric tolerable. I wandered off for lunch and never considered revisiting it. Soi Cowboy's much roomier; space to breathe.

Soi Cowboy :

In the end it was Soi Cowboy's "legendary" Lucky Star Long Gun Bar where I picked out a girl. I strolled up and down the whole Cowboy a couple of times, learning the layout and watching the trade. Motorbikes were delivering fresh girls almost non-stop; most arrived in jeans but a few in mini-skirts and bra tops only. A few of the bike drivers were properly equipped - helmet, boots, leathers. Professional bike taxis; I'll bet that's a chancy way to get by. At one end of Cowboy is a steak house bar with a few tables outside and I saw a couple of lads dining and it looked good to me, so I took a table. Inside, it's poky. And gloomy. They overdo the economies on the lighting, presumably to cover-up the state of the seating, the floor, maybe even the staff.
It doesn't inspire at first acquaintance. I actually had to pause just inside the curtain, like a late arrival at the cinema. It's THAT dark. Bank of seats like bleachers along either side of a thin-catwalk-sized pole-dance floor; barely 20' wide over the lot. Cramped. Gloomy. And - when I stepped in - empty.
Still, if it was OK for my brother...

So I took a seat and peered into the gloom. Ten girls emerged and clambered onto the high catwalk, their heads tight to the ceiling. They were in bikinis. My friend and I flew into Bangkok on the 18th of June and landed with an attitude of getting straight on it. My first observation is that any taxi driver you ask to take you to either Soi Cowbay or Nana Plaza will either tell you its closed, dangerous or something else equally stupid and then offer to take you to Cupidity. In my first trip to Bangkok when I was a little younger and a great deal greener I went to cupidity and had the time of my life, for an over inflated price and so gave it a miss this time. Drink costs and Bar fine prices are largely still in line with what has been previously posted on your site. 60 - 80 baht a beer is kind of standard and 500 baht bar fine is standard. Our first port of call that evening was Dollshouse and there much heralded glass ceiling/dance floor. Much to our dissapointment the place was empty of other guys and the girls were not up to standard. The place was a let down and I would advise really only visiting two places on Soi Cowbay taking into account the decour of the bar and the quality of the girls. These two are Tilac and Spice Girls. Spice Girls has a largely Indian clientele and the girls dance on the bar and tables sometiumes topless. Prices are good and there are a good selection of girls here, some onl;y dancers though and they tend to be the better looking ones. Tilac was my favourite on the strip and the waitresses and mamasan were all wearing the Germany strip for Euro 2008 and had a good sense of humour about it. The girls here were very accomodating and not to pushy. I took a girl at the end of the night and she was very nice and I had an enjoyable night but didn't feel the need to keep her until morning. The night after we returned to Tilac as we really enjoyed the night before and this is where it all went a little pear shaped. We had obviously made a good impression the night before as all the girls greeted us on our way in, including the mamasan and remembered our names. So far so good, then we bumped into a guy we know as Wally that we had drank with the night before and then we had some problems. I dragged us all out and moved on to another bar and explained to Wally what an idiot he was for what was basically spitting on the King. The moral of the story here is to be more culturally aware and to treat people with a bit more respect.

My final stop in Thailand was it's capital BANGKOK. I stayed in the Nana area which seems to be just about the liveliest in terms of bars and gogos. I went to Big Dog Bar on the corner of Nana Plaza and was soon joined by a cutie with big tits but the night was young so i moved on (i looked out for her later in the week on a few occasions without success). The gogo's are great (i think Rainbow 2 on the second floor seems the busiest) although i got my action by waiting for 1am and closing time. Things are still pretty much the same Nana and Soi cowboy wise as you have it on the facts section of the site. As you say things change from time to time and some bars go from shit to good and some the other way. At the moment Soi Cowboy, purely for girls, runs second to Nana. Most bars with the exception of Long Gun and Baccara have pretty thin rosters of quality girls and not many lookers. The latter, while having some stunners is still pretty much a Korean hang out (I share your aversion), most of the girls inside aren't interested in falangs. However, best tip I can give for Baccara is don't ignore the service girls in black dresses out the front, that's already spoon feeding the readers, they can work the rest out themselves. In fact that tip pretty much goes for the whole of soi cowboy the only girls I have shagged from there lately are service girls or hostesses. In Nana it's pretty mujch business as usual, Rainbow upstairs (1st floor in English/Australian) is probably the pick of the go go's as far as girls go there are some really tasty types there but beware the odd crazy one who will try to cling.... I could provide tag numbers for the best ones but I won't! (I learned from the master). I'm still too scared to fuck a katoey although some of them are so beautiful it fucks with my head, at the end of the day they're still men, and not as subservient as women, a quality I join you in finding most attractive if not absolutely necessary. Hollywood bar on the ground floor is also pretty good, much smaller than upstairs Rainbow and probably an easier starting point for a newby. There are about 40 or 50 girls on their roster with around 5 or 6 really nice girls there. If you (not you personally) do like katoeys the Cascade Bar on the 2nd floor is the place to go some of the boys in there are unbelivable and the staff much more friendly than Casanovas. With Nana it's basically a question of being patient and looking around, there are stunning women all around you just have to have a smile, your wallet, a sense of fun (vital if you want the good chicks) and be prepared to look around and enjoy the scene for what it is, an adult fun park - don't fall in love even if they do.

Beer Bars, Big Dog is still the best S&F spot but as far as atmosphere and girls and music and pool goes Morning Night Bar is the best in my opinion, not a bad S&F spot but a little way away from the entrance to Nana (as you'd know it's the first bar you come to when you turn into soi 4 off Suk) and the spots at the rail are a bit limited. Again some nice, nice girls to be had here if you're patient and have some fun with them and buy them a feed (and of course a drink) before you fuck them. At MN I would recommend getting on the right side of one or two of the drinks/pool girls, this will help you get drinks easily when you want them and ensure that you get a regular games of pool if you like to play. Also I would advise that you amke a show of checking your chit each time it's put in your holder when you buy a drink, I've never had a problem with my bill anywhere but it pays to let them know you're not an idiot and you are aware of how things work and what's going on, even if you don't. Hillary Bars one and two further down soi 4 from the entrance to Nana Ent Plaza are also good beer bars with pool tables and decent music. Prices for drinks in all establishments (GG and BB) are around 85 to 100 for YD and 100 to 140 for LD. Bar Fines can be anywhere from 400 to 600 depending on the bar and keep in mind that the bar fine for service girls is usually 100 more than the normal working girls. I never discuss money with the girl before I take her from the bar, I just don't even mention it and I have found that if you don't they don't. I pay a flat fee of 2,000 baht, regardless of whether it's short time, long time or if I take a girl with me for a dirty weekend (I just pay 2k a day in this instance). I have not, so far had any issues with this approach, there is no need to pay more if you are decent to them and fuck them well and don't hurt them physically (too much!) and I can not understand anyone who pays more when 10,000 baht a month is considered a pretty decent wage for a Thai person. Shop assistants etc. work for a lot less that that!

I have steered a couple of people who I've met during my weekly soirees to Nana in the direction of the above comments although I never go out of my way to talk to other mongers (I'm a lone cruiser of the scene unless I have a friend visiting town from home) but if someone is lost and they ask me how it all works or where to go I'm happy to show them (maybe a business idea, T - consultantcy/tour guide for potential or inexperienced whorists?).

I spent my first two nights in Bangkok. SOI COWBOY is one street with gogo bars either side. Outside 'Dollhouse' there was a sign which said 'fifty beautiful girls (and two ugly ones)' so, appreciating honesty, i stepped inside. Couldn't see looker so I had a beer and left NEP thinking I'll go for a wander down soi Nana past dynasty and then come back past and into NEP without getting snagged by the lil' one.
Off I went down Nana until I got to Hilary Bar (pretty big place heap of pool tables and a thai band playing western songs and quite a few good lookers and some not so good) about 5 mins past Dynasty (same side of soi) where I was more or less tackled by a little stunner. Great tits, tight little arse, thick shiny hair and all of 5 foot in her 4 inch heels! I could hardly believe my luck. Needless to say a few beers (same price as other places) and a bar fine (500bht) later and I'm off back to dynasty with my prize for a bit of hows ya father. The negotiations over price had resulted in the 'up to you' response but again thanks to Thommo I knew what to do. Back to the room showered and ready for action, this delightful young lady (can't remember her name now) bore the brunt of a couple of months of drought and did with a smile.
Day 3
Woke up in the morning and received no complaints when suggesting a heart starter - what a way to start the day! I showered thinking to myself this has got to be beginner's luck!
Dressed, downstairs I shouted lil' missy breakfast gave her 2,000bht (sorry Thommo was feeling generous) and sent her on her way, you come back tonight? she said. Yeah sure I said.Due to fly down to Samui for some relaxation tomorrow morning at 6am so looking to have a quiet day/night. Off to MBK for a wander and some shopping - bored with that fairly quickly - find myself back in Nana by 1! Decide to find a girl free bar for a few hours. Found a little bar on the other side of Sukhumvit on the corner of soi 5 (highly recommended if you want to relax with a break from the madness of Nana for an hour or two - food good, sigha 70bht I think) and had some pad thai and a beer and settled in for a quiet afternoon reading a book with a beer or two. The best laid plans of mice and men, a couple of irish lads were keen for a chat and full of questions about where to go out at night and where the girls were etc. So what was going to be a quiet afternoon reading turned into a pleasant afternoon session with my new irish mates. I gave them direstions to Nana (easy enough as it was just across the road from where we were), these directions were met with blank looks so I told them I'd come back and get them abt 8 and take them over to NEP.
Back to meet the lads at 8, only one of them was there, the others had gone for a massage, disappeared in a taxi. They finally arrived back at 9 and we set off for NEP. Before setting off I told them the old bull young bull joke just so they wouldn't jump at the first thing they saw! I hadn't had a look upstairs myself as yet so up we went to check the go-go bars out and despite my best efforts the first one we came to was too much for the paddies and in they went! A little place I can't remember the name of, pretty tame, some of the girls were pretty flash though and most of them were friendly enough, had a few beers and a laugh. Finally got the paddies moving to have a look at the other places. The lady boy bars are a real eye opener, didn't go in but the 'girls' out the front - some of them are unbelieveable. Ended up in a bigger go-go bar with a mechanical bull and a pretty full on floor show. Nice place although IMO the girls weren't as nice as some others I had seen - they were friendly though and happy to have a laugh and a drink with an Aussie battler and his irish mates - as long as we were buying of course!!Left there and completed our tour of the 3 levels of NEP. For mine it's all pretty much the same, once you've seen one bar you've seen them all, the main difference is the girls I suppose. Told the lads I was going downstairs to the non go-go bars downstairs to see what I could find for the night, they were happy to go back the first go-go bar we went to so I left them to it, they were off to Pattya the next day and I was off to Samui, so we bade farewell. Downstairs I found, what to me was the standout in a bar and she seemed happy enough with the attention of a new ATM. The other girls in this bar were a mix of youngies straight off the farm and girls who had obviously been at this game for a while. Had a few beers with my new friend (same prices as big dog). The girls here were OK maybe 20% hotties the rest not ugly but nothing fantastic. By this time it's getting on for 1 in the morning so I started negotiations with my little friend and ascertained the bar fine as 600bht (more than Hilary!) and the price for her as 'up to you'!! Paid the cheque and the BF and of I staggered to Dynasty for another of debauchery. If last night was good this was even better, and again no protests over morning action. My luck seems to be holding!
Day 4
Woke up, had a heart starter with my new friend, rolled over and looked at the clock and realised that my flight to Samui had left an hour and a half ago! Sh*t!
Up, showered, downstairs, breakfasted with my lovely friend settled my account with her (same as last night) and bade her farewell. Managed to change my flight for the next day (abt AUD40)and book another night at Dynasty so all was well, flight was at a far more reasonable hour (10.40am). That night went back and found my friend from last night, had a couple of drinks paid the BF, took her out for dinner and then back to HQ for an early night.
Day 5
Up early for a heart starter and then it was off to the airport to fly down to Samui. Spent 9 relaxing but largely uneventful days so I won't bore you with details. Not much action here as I was staying on Chaweng beach, I think there is more monger action at Lamai. Although there were two girly bars I found on Chaweng - I didn't venture in but the girls out the front weren't too bad. Maybe next time I'll do a more detailed examination of girly action on Samui.
Day 14
Back in Bangkok for the last 2 days before heading home. Staying at Dynasty again. Nana was pretty quiet, just heading into the low season and the girls outnumber the customers (girls words) quite noticeably. A great time for mongers, the competition is between the girls for the best customers as opposed to the other way around! Had a quiet morning. Early afternoon saw me wandering past the big dog bar only to be confronted with the stunner from day 2! Needless to say I was straight into the bar and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon with the stunner and her friends, left about 6 ish after paying the BF (600bht) the BF and the drink prices don't seem to go down during low season!! Back to the hotel and for a girl who had been in this line of work for a long time she did a fantastic impersonation of a shy schoolgirl, great actors these thai girls. Needless to say a night of hedonistic delights followed, punctuated by a quick dash out for dinner, a bit of extra effort and treating these girls with respect and actually talking to them for an hour or two before you take them 'home' definitely reaps benefits in the bedroom (again, just like thommo says).Day 15
Woke up same procedure as usual. 2000 bht and off she went. Got my affairs in order in preparation for departure tomorrow. That night I went down to Hilary bar to see if I could find lil' missy from the Day 2 but was told she wasn't working and the alternatives were OK but not really to my liking so decided to head back to big dog. Found my friend from last night and happy to find she was up for round two so a couple of drinks and bar fine later we're out for a bite to eat and home for playtime.
Day 16
Woke up - well you know the drill by now. Had a couple of farewell beers in the big dog and headed out to the airport. Bade a sad farewell to Bangkok. Already planning the next trip on the flight home.
Day 17
6am arrival Sydney, home, but it's no Bangkok, roll on the next trip!

Here are some notes about short-time hotels in Bangkok. The same observations probably apply anywhere. Most hotels will rent short-time, if they have rooms available. Especially for the smaller, more relaxed hotels. But hardly any hotels ever advertise this. A short-time room is a very good idea for the man concerned about safety and privacy. Keep the fun totally separate from secure "base camp". I stayed for several months at a 3-star hotel in Sukhumvit - got to know it well. A standard hotel, very nice, but nothing extravagant. Sometimes saw "couples" arriving and negotiating with front desk for P4P room. Rate was 500 baht (US 12.50) for 3-4 hours. Rooms were far cleaner, more attractive, than typical "short-time" hotels. Best time is late afternoon thru EARLY evening: after the noon checkout and after rooms have been cleaned, but BEFORE the late arrivals on the midnight flights. I recommend doing "reconaissance" in advance. Then use as desired.  I wouldn't want to wander around from hotel to hotel with girl in tow, at the time of need, trying to find a room. One more point - about doing the reconaissance. I've never understood the concept of "walk of shame". After all, it's a business deal. And business is the reason these hotels exist. Same with doing reconaissance - checking for rooms and rates. Nothing to be ashamed of. I ask, "Do you have short-time, 3-4 hours?" Sometimes get that Asian "thick face" look, especially if reception clerk is a middle-age woman. But, interesting, they all understand the meaning of "short time". I always get a polite answer. Lessons learned: I'm never ashamed to ask. And I'm never ashamed to walk in with a guest. After all, the hotel is there to serve my needs, not the other way around. That's how it looks in Bangkok. I hope this is helpful to some other travellers who are reading your web pages. Peter

I have a brief report and plan to follow up with greater detail later, but wanted to post a warning to punters visiting in near future. Soi Cowboy, selected a lovely lass from Doll House yet after brief shower and only ten minutes of friskiness once in my room, she was saying "hurry up" "finish" etc. By 20 min she was saying these and similar almost constantly repeating and getting more unpleasant and angry. I asked her to leave and return half the $ & she took a swipe at me and said she would call police. Not that familar with BKK, I let her go & said I'd speak to the Mama san. Twice I went to Doll House to speak with Mama san, but was told Mama san not in. Twice I left the name of the girl: Samrein Thong (aka Noi) with the person who appeared to be in charge with a strong complaint and a request that at least my bar fine be returened. All I got was you come back when Mama san here. Recommend folk avoid the Doll House until a more responsible mamgement is in place. And avoid Samrein Thong (Noi) short, well-endowed, sexy and remarkably mean - at all costs. - Panman

Only a short stay 2 nights hard to remeber everything -alcoholic amnesia-was in Patpong Rd , plenty on offer heeded this sites advice and stayed away from sex shows  , gogo's were all great the safest most honest bets being kings and queens castles - friendly staff free shots etc. Most of what i can say here is beware all cab and tuktuk drivers and touts they never stop trying to take you to "scam " clubs where they try charge you 200B per beer , way overpriced. Unfortunatley we were near Patpong road and tried getting about 8 or 9 different taxis to nana plaza and the other area but to no avail we were constantly being directed to other places even with firm directions ended up leaving a few cabs beecause it was a nightmare. Thier favourite lines were " you like ladyboys? that area only ladyboy , if you like ladyboy ok but i know better place i stop on way " or "all girls in nana have disease they all dying i take you to better place" the usual crap. One place i can recall is Kangaroo bar in patpong 1 i think had a great time upstairs at the bar 5 girls on you  , porn on the tv was ther with a mate they were asking 800B each for a bj but got it to 600B each in the room at either end of the bar i still think that was overpriced , good thing was the girl i took gave me a bj then asked if i wanted more i said yes but no more money and managed to fuck her sensless for free or no extra on the sly- i dare say she and i would have been in trouble if the manager found out lol we had to keep it a secret ;)

Hi Thomas, coming to Thai for 20 years. Last visit in 2003. Here is my actual report about Bangkok.

THERMAEThermae: Always loved the place and picked some real girlfriends out there in the past. Now it is highly commercial and a bit cold for my taste. Nice girls, no dogs, but the girls are looking for japanese customers who are hanging around in suits and ties. Sent a 21 year old cutie home after 5 minutes when she tried to start monkey business in my hotel room. (no touching, no kissing etc.)

BIERGARTENThen I picked a lady from Biergarten. Well, ok performance, but after RP these ladies are lowgrade to me. She also tried to rip me of and wanted to leave after fucking. ST 1000 bath with a mediocre lady? Too expensive. Bangkok is way too commercial for me these days. The old girlfriend feeling has gone. Japanese and Arabs dictate prices and behaviour. Girls ask 2000 for LT. Japanese and Arabs pay even more and they treat the girls not always nice. Bad for us.

Pattaya: took a FL, good performance and she liked fucking but where is beauty and grace in this place? Faces do not look too good.

Summary: Thailand now is just a place for commercial cold fucking. Thai people are not very polite anymore. They only want our money. Only recommended for hardcore whorists. In my hometown I pay 30-50 $ for a ST with Thai lady. The figures come close.

Here are two recommendations for men visiting Bangkok. These are both low-key areas.
They reflect my tastes - middle-age man who wants a
relaxed, yet satisfying, experience.
These are not places with the bright lights and music
turned up to full volume.

1.) Washington Square, Sukhumvit, soi 22, Bangkok. This area is a hidden oasis of peace, quiet, modest prices
and eager "talent".
Here's the story: The appeal of Washington Square comes from being off the main track.
The bars are quiet, literally, and any man walking in will get a lot
of attention.
The girls are genuinely eager and happy to see you.
Washington Square is not so commercial as Nana, Cowboy or Patpong.
If you like low-key and casual, it's perfect. Washington Square is a mix of American bars and Japanese Karaoke bars.
Any English-speaking man will be very welcome in any of the American bars.
Outside each bar will be a girl, or two, or three, smiling right at
you and saying, in English, "Heh-woh. Weo-come. Come in-side pleeese." Unless you are Japanese, don't bother with the Japanese bars.
If you approach the door, the "greeters" will simply ignore you
as if you don't exist. The easiest way to get to Washington Square is by taxi.
But most taxi drivers probably will not know the name.
Instead, ask for "Mambo Cabaret Show" - that is quite famous - it is
right in the middle of the square. Be prepared when you arrive:
Washington Square is old, dingy, and run down.
There is a reason for that - the entire area is scheduled for
redevelopment in 2-3 years, so nobody is painting or repairing or remodeling anything.
The first time I walked into the square I thought I was in a bad slum.
But now I am there every day - and many nights.
It is quite safe.
Not totally safe - always be alert - but you will not find the threats
there as in other areas of pickpockets and drugs. A quick detour on this topic:
"Mambo Cabaret" is a ladyboy show.
The performers are transvestites - young, Thai men dressed as women.
It's a great show - a musical extravaganza - lively, fun, and professionally done.
I recommend it: 800 baht - about US$20.00. Once you get to Mambo Cabaret, just walk around the building.
It is actually a square block - so walk around all four sides.
You will see many little bars. I suggest starting at my personal favorite, Silver Dollar Bar,
over to the left as you are facing the Mambo entrance.
The Silver Dollar also serves delicious food at modest prices.
My favorite is the taco platter with beans and rice and, sometimes,
fresh guacamole.
Yes, all the waitresses at Silver Dollar are available for "take out".
Bar fine is 300 baht (US$ 7.50 - November, 2004).
I pay 1,000 baht to the girl (US $25.00).
2.) Queen's Park Entertainment Plaza, Sukhumvit soi 22, Bangkok This is an cozy area of about 20 relatively new bars that has opened
up in the past couple of years.
Queen's Park Plaza is new, clean, modern, cozy, relaxed and safe.
However, it is never very crowded with customers (men).
The only reason I can guess is because it is not better known. There are always bars opening up, changing names, or closing down,
so recommending any specific ones wouldn't be worthwhile.
I suggest doing what I've done, just walk around until you find
one you like, or someone you like. In addition to the bars, Queen's Park has a decent Thai restaurant,
where you can sit and eat and watch the action.
There are also a couple of massage shops for traditional massage,
plus a barber shop, a travel agency, a pharmacy (chemist shop), and
an Internet shop.
So, you can walk around and just look, without feeling under any pressure. Queen's Park Plaza is about 100 meters down Soi 22 from Sukhumvit road,
on the right hand side, if you are coming from Sukhumvit.
From Washington Square, it is across soi 22 and down 1/2 block.
A local landmark is the Imperial Queen's Park hotel - a huge
and famous hotel - on Soi 22, just 1/2 block beyond the bar area.
Ask any taxi driver for Queen's Park Hotel, then cross the street
and walk back up the soi - towards Sukhumvit - 1/2 block.
