re SEX with HOOKERS
GUIDE only :
Use the information below as a broad guide only.
It will be helpful in getting you started.
I personally visit Thailand as much as possible , and then update the info below. Otherwise updates are based on proven reliable sources.
"Reviewed" (below) means info re-read and adjusted where necessary.

NOTE : The original 1am curfew for nightspots , varies a bit from town to town , nowadays. But the authorities seem to focus mainly on the 'lewd' GoGo Bars. Freelancers on the street and Disco's seem to be able to circumvent the 1am curfew in most towns/cities. There are other establishments that 'bend the rules' , sometimes only temporarily , until they are caught up with. Thailands sex scene is ever fluid/spermatic : )
----
UPDATES : Reviewed June 2010
------
INTRO - Pattaya is a seaside town (approx 150kms from Bangkok) with a difference. Wall to wall beer bar pussy , in a relaxed 'open air' environment. No high rises hovering over you and nowhere near the vehicular traffic of its bigger sin sister, Bangkok. Space you have got a plenty. Principally a Beer Bar town with adequate amounts of Go-Go's, Disco's , Freelance Spots and Massage Parlours. Everything that Bangkok has got but not more. Only more in respect of Beer Bars and relaxed atmosphere has it got more. A great twin act, bouncing betweeen Bangkok and Pattaya. Once you have experienced Bangkok and Pattaya you have seen a big chunk of Thailands sex scene. Everything after Bangkok and Pattaya pales by comparison. Patong (Phuket) and Chiangmai etc fans might disagree however. But for full on sex opportunities, the sin cities of Bangkok and Pattaya are hard to beat.
WARNING : Keep well clear of Pattaya during the Songkran Water Festival , usually starting around mid April. Google it for dates. Very few ladies on offer during the water wars , and lots of discomfort walking around in wet clothes. Pattaya particularly bad for this one.
TRANSPORT:
Transport from Bangkok Airport (SUV) -
If any doubts , ask at Airport Information desk (AI). They are located at a number of points on various levels of the airport.
You arrive at Level 2
BUS to Pattaya.
I arrived at SUV around midnight and did not want to wait until 8am for the first Bell Bus Service. So I caught the government bus service to Pattaya , 6.45am. Terrible , I'd wait for the 8am Bell next time. But if like me you can not wait for Bell (see below) the following will help you re Govt bus.
Government Bus (yellow) to Pattaya : Schedule ... 6.45am 9.15am 1.15pm 5.15pm. This schedule can change without notice. Level 1 is where you will see between Exit 7 and Exit 8 (inside) a Govt bus booth , inside the terminal. Believe you can buy the ticket there and be picked up there , Baht120 , Baht 90 mins approx. I went ahead to the Govt Bus Station via the free shuttle. You exit number 8 turn left and walk down to a sign. This sign is in front of a brick building with a green sign above its entrance. You will see others congregating around here , close to footpath , for the free shuttle. Not the little table for Mini Van to Don Muang to the left and not the "Airport Express" booth which is straight ahead as you exit 8. You can always ask Airport Express booth where is bus stop for govt bus station.
After 10 mins or so you arrive at Govt Bus Station. There is a small Information Desk at this station , english speaking lady. Ask her where you buy ticket for Pattaya etc. I found the govt staff bad mannered and not interested in providing service to foreigners. When we got to Pattaya they dumped us on the road , miles from my destination. I had to pay another Baht100 to a Songthaew (pick up) to get to where I was staying. The Govt Bus service is an unsatisfactory way of getting to Pattaya.
BELL BUS service (Phone 02.7474675 or 038.370055) is the only satisfactory way of getting to Pattaya by bus from SUV. Schedule : 8am 10 am 12noon 2pm 4pm and 6pm. Only problem first bus not until 8am. This schedule of course can change without notice. If you can not wait for that then you might consider a taxi (see below). Bus : Level 1 between Exit 7 and Exit 8 (indoors) , closer to Exit 7 , for Bell Bus. They do not have a regular booth , just put a sign on a stand an hour or so before first bus leaves. Folks sit on nearby seats until Bell Bus people arrive. Hop on their bus and away you go , Baht150/200 , 90 min trip approx. Best part is , on arrival at Northern Bus Station (called "Air Con Bus Station" by locals) you transfer to a Bell Bus Mini Van which takes you to your specific place of accommodation at no extra charge , not dumped on the side of the road like the Govt bus people do. Bell are geared for english speaking tourists , Govt bus service is not.
Even with the best bus service , your hanging around waiting for the bus to arrive , then at Pattaya you have to get your bags out and put in Mini Van , then go hotel hopping all over the place dropping off other bus passengers , until they get to your specific hotel. Your only going to save about U$30/35 this way. I did not catch the taxi on arrival at SUV cause it would have got me in Pattaya around 2/2.30am and I had no hotel booking. Dont like the idea of walking around a red light district with all my valuables at that hour of the morning , especially when katoeys (robbers) are around. Add to that I would have had to pay for a whole day , even though I would only be in the room for about 8/9hrs. Getting there in a hurry just to fall asleep : )
Emailed in by whorist.com reader : You can get updates on bus departures , prices etc : http://pattayabus.com/en/route_schedule.htm
TAXI to Pattaya
Before you head for Thailand : You have two alternatives ... 1. Email : Mr TTaxi@hotmail.com and arrange driver to meet you , any hour of the day or night , on arrival. Mongers report this service reliable. Baht1000 incl's tolls , or 2. http://www.pattaya-taxi.com , where you can organise via email a taxi before you take off on your trip , advising taxi co'y your flight number etc. They meet you at Exit 3 (Level 2 , arrival level) , holding up sign with your name on it. Believe its Baht1100 including tolls .. good deal. Add Baht100 tip if good driver. Reliable , but if not there , catch regular taxi mode as explained below.
After having arrived at Bangkok : Avoid any touts/rip off artists approaching you inside or outside the airport re taxi's to Pattaya (Bangkok or any where else).
You arrive on Level 2 and taxis depart from same level. Pass through Exit 3 or Exit 10 , where you will find an official taxi ticket booth outside near the footpath. Keep your copy of the taxi ticket , other copy goes to driver. See Bangkok Basics notes for more re taxi tickets.
Trip will cost around baht 1100 plus 50 Baht airport service charge , plus Bt65 Toll fee. Maybe Bt50 and Bt65 already in the Baht1100 ? not sure ,havent gone by taxi in recent times. So all up you owe taxi driver nor more than : Bt1210. Round it up to Bt1300 and he should be happy. Confirm at taxi booth , estimated price plus extra's ie total driver expects. Then confirm with driver before he takes your bags etc = no hassles later on. Can be cheaper if you go to Departures , no booth , no ticket , and offer Bt1000 to the first taxi you see , but maybe not so safe/sure that way. Also I believe airport authorities are making it difficult for folks to do it this way nowadays. Still might have to add the Bt65 tolls on top of that (see above). I would go via taxi ticket booth Level 2.Taxi's take about 1.5hrs (130kms ?) to get to Pattaya , depending on traffic conditions. No faster than a bus , except you might have to wait for a bus , not so with taxi : )
Transport from Bangkok City itself (not the Airport) -
1. Taxi - If you tell the driver to use the Meter it should cost Baht
1000 approx , including cost of Tolls. It will take less than 2 hours, if the
driver takes the new expressway/tollway. However , if you ask "how much" = who knows how much he will sting you , could be anything from Baht 1200 - 1500 : ) Tourist Info Office , eg at Nana Station might be able to help in this regard and others. Note : Very last trip ticket seller at booth said fare Baht1500 (including tolls) .... I paid that , cause impatient to get to Pattaya and didnt want to start trip with an argument over price. Think ticket seller was on the take , and driver will return to her one day and give her a Baht50/100 tip for ripping me off. I should have said "last time Baht1000" but didnt.
2. Mini Van - When younger and more keen on controlling my budget I would go by Mini Van , but not any more , too arduous.
Not even value for those on a tight budget. See "Bus" info below.
If you still want to go by mini van this is the only info I have for you ...... "Ex your Hotel Bt400/450 on average. Make arrangements via your Hotel Front Desk. Some times they take an hour to pick up all the other passengers at various Bangkok Hotels before they actually depart Bangkok City itself. Once they have left the city limits it takes about 2hrs to arrive at Pattaya. One of the advantages of the mini van over the Ekemai Bus is , the mini van picks you up at your front door and drops you off at your Pattaya Hotel front door. See below 'On arrival at Pattaya'. The biggest disadvantage of the Mini Van : its the slowest most long circuited way of getting to Pattaya.
3. Bus (ex Bangkok City itself) - Catch a taxi to Ekemai Bus Station (or alternatively BTS/Sky Train to Ekemai Train Station) From Ekemai - Air con express buses leave every 30 mins 24 hours a day, 6am to 11pm. Enter the Terminal itself and buy your ticket from the very first ticket booth on your right , booth number 32. Hope its still the same booth , otherwise just ask at any window "Pattaya". Costs around 120 Baht and takes just around two hours to get to Pattaya (varies according to traffic conditions) Your seat number is on the back of the seat you actually sit in. If your a big guy , buy two tickets so you can stretch out a bit (still cheap). This El Cheepo way involves a bit of lugging your bags around. From Pattaya Bus Terminal , you catch a communal open aired pick up utility called 'Baht Bus' or more correctly 'Songthaew'. It will charge you Baht20/30 to share the ride to yours and others Hotels. At Pattaya terminal look around for people placing their bags and themselves on these communal taxis (Songthaew). They are heading the same way as you are. Note : I have not travelled this way for some time. Hope info is still useful.
On arrival at Pattaya -
If you arrive by taxi/limousine or Mini Van you will have no problems cause you will be dropped at the front door of your Hotel. If arriving by Government bus from Ekemai Station , you will have to catch a Songthaew (Communal pickup type Taxi , also called Baht Bus) to Pattaya proper. This will cost you around Baht20/30 (Communal - sharing). You will not necessarily be dropped at a spot convenient to your Hotel. Enquire before hand. Fingers crossed he understands you : ) If you want a Songthaew to yourself and can find one out on the street empty with little chance of passengers , 60/80 Baht should get you to your destination , if not at front door , very close to front door of hotel , with no picking up of passengers along the way. They will try for Bt100 : )
If arriving on Bell Bus ex SUV airport , they transfer you to their Mini Van which then takes you to your specific hotel. More info on this smooth no hassles way , in Bangkok Basics notes. I prefer to go to Pattaya ex Bangkok and on the Bell Bus if their schedule fits mine. Otherwise Baht1000 taxi ex Airport. Then visit Bangkok on way back from Pattaya.
Transport within Pattaya - Songthaew - a covered utility/pick up with bench seats each side. Baht 10 regular trip (Falangs/Foreigners .... locals : Baht 5). Communal (sharing). Before getting in you must clarify with driver whether he can drop you off at your destination. That is , is he going your way ? If he quotes a silly price he is thinking you want the Songthaew to yourself. Say "Tammada" (Tumma dah) = not special trip , willing to share. If your not willing to share , want the Songthaew to yourself it'll cost ya anything from 60 to 100 Baht.
Motorbike taxi's are better, in that they will drop you right at the specific spot you want to go to without stopping anywhere along the way. Cost a little more than the 10Baht trips (Songthaew) , Baht30/40 for regular trips , but if you don't know your way around they are the best 'taxi' to catch. They will drive slowly and carefully if you request them too ("cha cha - khrup" : )
Returning to Bangkok City or SUV Airport :
1. Taxi :
You can use the 'email' taxi people described above , or ....
To Bangkok City (not SUV airport) : Apparently there is a Taxi Stand on 2nd Rd , between Soi 8 and Soi7. I have seen them at other spots along 2nd road too. If you say 'meter' to taxi driver = around 800 plus toll fees of Bt150 (to Bangkok City , not Airport) If you do not specify 'meter' they will quote Baht1000 or more plus tolls. The only problem with this way , you can not be sure there will be a taxi at the stand when you arrive via Songthaew (communal taxi truck) with your bag/s. Maybe when doing the deal , tell driver he has to take you back to your hotel , throw bags in and off. Maybe throw in an extra Baht50 for that ?
Taxi to SUV Airport : You can get a return trip from , Pattaya to SUV , by taxi for Bt800 at the taxi stand in 2nd Street Pattaya plus Bt65 toll. Some Hotels sell a Bt850 taxi ticket , eg Lek Hotel does. Ask at your hotel Front Desk. I think you have to pay Baht65 tolls on top of that too , not sure. Confirm on purchase. Otherwise , enquire at one of the many travel agents in Pattaya , where you will most probably pay a little more yet again.
2. Bus :
To Bangkok City (not airport) : If returning to Bangkok city itself and not the airport : The Bus Station in Pattaya is some distance past Big C and not far from Thai Air Ofc. Baht 120 to Bangkok , govt air con express bus. Buses every 30 mins. Doubt if 20 Baht Communal Songthaew pickup taxi would get you to the Bus Station , more likely 30/40Baht. If you want Songthaew to go direct to bus station express , without picking up other passengers = Bt100 possibly. Enquire at the Pattaya TAT (Tourist Authority Thailand) Office in Beach Road , re this and any other queries you may have. In Bangkok get out of Bus at Ekemai Bus Station and walk short metres to Ekemai Sky Train service. Otherwise catch a taxi to your Bangkok accommodation.
Bus to Airport (SUV) : I would catch the Bell Bus at what the locals call the "Air Con Bus Station". They pick you up outside your hotel in a van firstly , no need to hassle with Songthaews. Baht200 for ticket to SUV. Your Front Desk would be able to get latest schedule , might go something like this : 6am , 9am , 11am , 1pm , 3pm , 5pm , 7pm. Alternatively get a copy of schedule when you arrive at Bell Bus spot at SUV (see Bangkok Basics notes) or arrive at Bus Station in Pattaya.
Bell Bus to Bangkok City (not airport) : Baht400 , see info above re bus to SUV.
3. Mini Van service.
To Bangkok City (not airport) : Private operators pick up folks at their Hotels and take them to Bangkok City for around Bt4/450 (most prob latter). There is a delay picking up other folks before you actually depart Pattaya. Nowadays I use the Bell bus service , see above. If you still want to go all the way to Bangkok in a Mini Van , ask your Hotel Front Desk or any Pattaya Travel Agent ,eg , in Walking Street Pattaya for a provider.
SUV Airport : I do not know what the Mini Van charges for SUV are, ask at Travel Agent or Front Desk of your hotel. Update ... I would travel with Bell Bus Service to SUV.

Lek Hotel - On the corner of Soi.13 and Pattaya 2nd Road. UPDATE : See update at end.
Coming from Beach Road its a fair distance down on the left hand side of Soi.13. Phone 038.425550-2/42385. Fax: 66.38. 426629. Email : lek_hotel@hotmail.com Good location, sandwiched in between the Go-Go/Disco Nightlife further South and the Beer Bar scene further North. Save heaps on food bill with their Smorgasbord Brunch Bt100 (7am-1pm). Evening Buffet 6pm - 10pm Bt180. Great buffets , and I am hard to please when it comes to food (and chicks). This is the way to save money, or to get good value meals. All you can eat for a modest outlay. Rooms are Baht 750 -1250 , depending whether high/low season and whether new or old wing. Check whether the breakfast buffet is included in your tariff. Plenty of guys staying and dining there with their ladies of the night. Popular place. Ideal accommodation for guys on a budget. This is my number one recommendation for 'Budget Bangers'. See Update below.
UPDATE : Been getting a couple of reports that Lek is not so great for accommodation (old wing only ?) , yet plenty staying there last time I was in Pattaya. Great for buffets (personal opinion of a vegetarian .. me : )
For pos more info : http://www.asiatravel.com/lek/index.html
The Haven Hotel - Soi .13. just off beach road. Baht 850 . Rooms clean , Restaurant , Laundry , Beer all good and cheap. Overnight guests no prob. Swimming Pool. Info second hand.
Soi.8. Accommodation :
(Further away from Walking Street and the action)
Note - 1. No overnight guest problems or o/night guest fee in Soi 8 , but check beforehand just in case. 2. Soi.8 can be noisy (Beer Bar music) to 2am = for some , hard to sleep before then. 3. If walking without a girl , the girls in this street will good humouredly try and drag you into their bar every time you pass. Some guys consider this a hassle , others a source of amusement. 4. You are walking distance to most of Pattaya's nightlife action. Soi.8. is certainly a lively street : )
Eastiny Place - Soi 8 , just in from Beach Road, on the right hand side as you walk towards 2nd Rd. A relatively new Hotel with good rooms , s. pool , cable tv. @ Baht 800 to Bt1500 depending on whether high/low season and type of room. Incl's breakfast. Popular place. "B" building is supposed to be the best. Try : eastinypattaya.com Eastiny Hotel - is further down Soi.8. on left hand side , not so new as 'Place'. Also popular. Email: eastinny@ptty.loxinfo.co.th/ eastinyinn@hotmail.com. Eastiny Plaza , is another new one of theirs , also in Soi8.
Flipper Lodge - Soi.8. Popular monger haunt. Baht880 , low season , Bt1100 high season. In house Massages cheap viz Baht 300 for a straight Massage plus 500 for full sex. Flipper Hotel is in Soi.7 (Baht800). Try : www.flippergroup.com
Sunshine Pattaya Hotel - Further down (Soi.8.) from Eastiny on the right hand side. Conveniently located to many Beer Bars in one of the most popular beer bar streets. Baht800 I believe nowadays. Might be less during low season. Word has it , they have a new "Sunshine Residences" Wing. Presumably prices are higher there. Check website below re latest prices. Restaurant ok & x 2 Swimming Pools. Phone 038. 429247. Fax: 038. 421302. Email: sunshineptty@yahoo.com ..... www.pattaya hotels.com/sunshine.html
----
Flipper Hotel - Soi.7. Sim. price structure as its sister Hotel Flipper Lodge. Also popular with mongers. Check : www.flippergroup.com
Pig and Whistle - Soi.7 , Bt750 incl's breakfast. Wi-fi , safe , air con , clean , well managed (they say) , good restaurant.
Rosie O'Grady's Irish Pub and Restaurant - Soi.7 , Bt650-950 , depends whether low or high season.
Apex Hotel - 216/2 Pattaya 2nd Road , on east side (Lek Hotel is on west side). Opposite Soi .11. Phone 038.429233/428281-2 Fax: 66.38.421184. Dbl Air Con Rooms - 500/600 Bt. Sec Box ; Pool. This place is a bit aged nowadays. Check room before putting money down. If necessary , ask : "Have you got better room" ? (most probably yes). Popular, including its Buffet Breakfast (Bt110 at last count) , but not convenient enough for me. No overnight guest fee. They check or keep the girls ID overnight.
Diana Inn - 216/6 Pattaya 2nd Road, a little further south from Apex Hotel. In between Sois 11 & 12 on the opposite side of the road. Phone 038.429675 Fax 66.38.424566. Email: dianagrp@loxinfo.co.th/www.golfasia.com Dbl Air Con Rooms - 650Bt.
New Dynasty Inn - Sister to Dynasty in Soi.4 Bangkok. Pattaya one is located in Soi.13. Baht1600 (dif rooms dif prices). Rooms facing garden are best. See Dynasty info Bangkok for info on free transport to Pattaya.
A.A.Pattaya Hotel - 182 Beach Rd , on the corner of Soi 13. Good location. Phone 038. 428656. Fax : 38.429057 Dbl Bt850. Baht800-950. I didnt like the look of it for bringing chicks in. Looked like a 'walk of shame' place. I'd consider Lek (above) before this one. Update : Possibly gone down a bit. Note ... no non smoking area/s.

Cheapies close to the action:
Currently , for me , a budget banger , its P.N.Inn .... see 2nd entry below ..................
P72 Hotel - Coming from Marine Bar a few metres up on the right hand side you will see the P72 Restaurant open on to the footpath. It's on the corner of a laneway before Soi.15. Opens early for breakfasts. You walk down the laneway to the actual hotel on your right.
Old wing : Bt650/800. Do not take a room over laneway/soi. Noise to 4am and beyond. There are rooms in old wing that are not overlooking Soi below , take them. I stayed in old wing and survived.
New wing : Away from potential noise. Bt1200/1500. Phone 038. 421784/429291. Fax: 421781. No website. You could not get more convenient to the action than P72 , they are right on the button. Pay one night , if noise factor they might find you a quiet room , otherwise move out , try another , lots to choose from.
P.N. Inn - Walk down the laneway that P72 Restaurant is on the corner of , and you will find on your right hand side: P. N . Inn. Officially : 342 Mu 10 , South Pattaya. Phone 038.424422. Dbl Air Bt 400 (low season) Bt ..... ? high season , which is extremely cheap for the great location in the middle of all the action. Good lobby, full house at the time of my enquiries and so could not look at the rooms. But you can not expect much for that price. Very nice Receptionist, who unfortunately could not speak English very well. The place had ambience. Recommended for a check out (suitability). Update : I have since inspected rooms etc. Nothing wrong with it for a budget traveller. This time , attractive Receptionist (daughter of owner) who understood english : )
Walking Street Guest House - Baht600. In same area as above two , and so extremely convenient to night life action. No other info.
Other - possibly info via www.hotelthailand.com/pattaya/pattaya/html
RESTAURANTS:
Most
things in Pattaya are cheaper than in Bangkok, but not the Restaurants. Exception : Buffets at Hotels.
Lek Hotel - See Accommodation notes above. On the corner of Soi.13 and Pattaya 2nd Road. Coming from Beach Road its a fair distance down on the left hand side of Soi.13. Catch a motorcyc taxi if its too far to walk to. Here they have Buffet Brunches 7am - 1pm Bt120 . Evenings 4pm - 10.30pm Bt180. The best Thai buffets I have come across. Not out of this world , but meets my requirements. Lots of guys dining here with their Ladies of the Night. Apex Hotel , just nearby in Pattaya 2nd Road , has modestly priced buffets too (never tried em , Lek good enough for me).
When you need a change , try one of the following two :
Sportsmans Pub - Soi.13 off Beach Road (just down from Lek) . Havent tried it yet , popular with Mongers.
Pig and Whistle - Soi.7. off Beach Road. Haven't tried it yet , but popular with Mongers.
Also rans :
Marine Disco - Opposite Marine Disco , and 10/20 metres further north you will find a 'German Restaurant'. I have eaten there on more than one occasion and found the food satisfactory and when I was there , the waitresses had a sense of humour. But then , they always do when I am around : ) My favourite there , tomatoe salad and potatoe salad , two orders together at same time.
Buds Restaurant - A fair walk up Beach Road heading North from Marine Disco. You can prop here on the footpath and sip a beer. Might catch a passing fly ? : ) A reasonable el cheepo Restaurant, but Lek is much better value and by far more comprehensive food on offer.
Baywatch Restaurant - A little further up from Bud , on the same side. This one was there in the mid 1970's. Don't recall it being called Baywatch then though. Young American guy in partnership with a more mature Thai woman those days . I enquired as to the Americano's existence and the girls said he was long gone. Typical of cross culture partnerships - they rarely last/go the distance. This place was value in the 1970's, but not any more. Buds better and Lek better than Buds.
Pattaya 2 Road - is regarded as a good Restaurant Street, but I didn't think so. On my brief reconnoitre of that street I did not see any sign of a 'Restaurant Blvd' , as talked about on the Internet some times. Perhaps you will ? Vientiane is one that's supposed to be good. It's possibly somewhere near Soi 13/1 (Soi Yamato) UPDATE : Vientiane was sighted in walking street and absolutely empty ! (not a good sign : )
All of this info belongs to : www.whorist.com
----------------
My daily routine was , to fill up at Lek's late morning, middle of the day, then have tomato and potato salads at the German Restaurant opposite Marine Disco in the evenings. In fact the beer maids at Marina Bar would walk across the street and get my salads for me whilst I sat on the stool drinking beer, perving on the women and hoping for a nice fly to fall into my web. Now I call that service ! Can't do that in the Western world : ) UPDATE : On recent trips never sat at Marina Bar. Scene has changed. No waitresses to my knowledge. That area relatively dead. Marine/Marina have got 'problems' .. not attracting the crowds anymore. Only last hour or two early a.m. disco gets customers , cause other disco's too crowded , otherwise they'd get nobody.
INTERNET
Last trip found 'Marine Internet' best for my purposes (using laptop). Location : opposite Marina Bar (in Walking Street) you'll see a laneway in between beer bars. Walk down that lane 100mtrs and its on the left. Last trip , guy working there a bit surly , but computer and surrounds better than average. Another , a bit cramped by comparison : "Ice" Internet , Soi.14 , Walking St. Think it was Bt30 per hour. Marine Internet is the one. You'll find Int Cafes here and there , no real problem locating them.
